Sandy turned and placed the takeout in the refrigerator before sitting on the couch in the living room.
"I heard you got injured? Are you okay?" Stella looked at Yanis and softly inquired.
Yanis shook her head. "Nothing serious."
Yanis was curious about how Stella found out about her injury, but with Meggie around, she didn't press
further.
It seemed Meggie had something to discuss with Stella, but since Sandy and Yanis were present, she
left after a short while.
As Meggie was leaving, she glanced at Stella and said softly, "Rest well. I'll come by another day."
Stella understood that Meggie had something to say. She stood up and offered to see Meggie off.
Meggie didn't refuse and nodded. Stella walked with her towards the exit.
They stepped outside, and when they reached the ground floor, Meggie turned to Stella and spoke
softly, "Stella, I want to apologize on behalf of Luca once again. I came to talk to you about something
else today."
Stella looked at Meggie. "Go on."
"Meggie, I know this isn't fair to you, but... I also have my own selfish motives. I promised my parents
that I would take care of him in this lifetime. Even though I didn't raise him well, he's still..."
"Meggie."
Before Meggie could finish her sentence, Stella interrupted her.
Meggie's words came to a halt as she looked at Stella.
Stella met Meggie's gaze and spoke softly, "Meggie, I know what you want to say. But right now, I really
don't want to hear his name at all. Whenever I hear his name, all I can think of is that night and how he
treated me."
Stella's voice was soft, but every word was clear, "I truly loved him from the depths of my heart back
then. I thought I would live a happy life with him, forever."
"But reality always teaches me harsh lessons. He betrayed me, betrayed our years of love. Meggie, I
can't help but hate him, and I can't forgive him." Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Meggie looked at Stella, her mouth opening to say something, but she seemed unsure of what to say.
What Luca had done to Stella was unforgivable and not worth forgiving.
However, Meggie still didn't want Luca to meet his demise inside prison. After all, he was her own
younger brother.
"So, Meggie, if you can find a way to ensure his safety, I won't stop you. But asking me to let him go... I
can't do that," Stella said, enunciating every word clearly.
Meggie fell silent for a moment after hearing Stella's words, then nodded slightly. "Alright, I
understand."
Having said that, Meggie turned to Stella and murmured, "You should go back. I'll head back now."
Stella acknowledged with a soft sound. "Okay."
Without further ado, Meggie got into her car and drove away. Stella stood in place, watching the car
until it disappeared. After a while, she turned and went upstairs.
Upon entering the apartment, Sandy immediately stood up and approached Stella. In a hushed voice,
he asked, "Did Meggie come here to plead for that jerk, Luca?"
Stella was briefly taken aback by Sandy's question, then shook her head slightly. Though she didn't
deny it, she also didn't confirm it.
Sandy looked nervous. "What did you say? You didn't agree to her, did you?"
Stella settled onto the couch and replied softly, "No, I didn't agree."
Stella summarized her conversation with Meggie for Sandy.
Sandy, however, didn't agree with Stella's decision. "Sis, are you just going to let him off the hook for
what he did to you? He's scum! He deserves to rot in there forever, never to see the light of day!"
Stella looked at Sandy and spoke softly, "Leaving that aside, Meggie has been good to me over the
years."
Sandy couldn't deny that Meggie had treated Stella well. He didn't know how to respond to Stella's
statement.
Stella didn't want to continue discussing this topic. After finishing, she turned her gaze to Yanis. "Yanis,
how come you have time to come over today?"
Yanis whispered, "I haven't been too busy these past couple of days, so I came over."
Yanis didn't mention that Sandy had called her over. Stella was already in a bad mood, and Sandy's
intentions might upset her further.
Stella didn't say much more after hearing Yanis's explanation.
Yanis didn't stay long with Stella and soon left. After Yanis left, Sandy looked at Stella and asked, "Did
you go to the hospital? What did the doctor say?"
Upon hearing Sandy's question, Sandy handed Stella a piece of fruit on her plate and replied,
"Everything's fine."
Stella nodded gently. "That's good to hear."
After that exchange, Stella turned her attention back to Sandy. "How's Brandon's situation? Have you
asked about it?"
Sandy's chewing slowed as he processed Stella's question. He then murmured, "It's not resolved yet. I
plan to go to Viteto tomorrow to check."
Stella looked concerned upon hearing Sandy's response. "Is the situation still serious? It's been a week
since he left."
Sandy nodded. "I'll go see how things are tomorrow. If there's any way I can help, I'll do my part."
Stella wasn't too surprised by Sandy's response. "Well, I'll accompany you tomorrow. I don't want you
going alone, especially when you're feeling like this. And Brandon would worry too if he knew."
Sandy immediately grew nervous at the idea of Stella tagging along. "It's not necessary. I'll go with
Jones. You don't have to come, and you still have a lot to take care of at the store."
Stella insisted, "I can postpone some store matters. This is important, and I should pay a visit to the
Hawkins family as well. Since things are settled between you and Brandon, there are some formalities
that need to be observed."
Sandy listened to Stella's words and remained silent for a while before finally saying, "Alright."
Sandy booked a flight for the same evening to Viteto. However, he hadn't informed Brandon about his
visit, nor had he planned on taking Stella with him. His flight was scheduled for the early hours of the
morning. He intended to leave after Stella had fallen asleep.
Stella hadn't been sleeping well lately, so Sandy waited until it was closer to her usual bedtime before
leaving the room.
