Chapter 1048: Boarded My Car, Too Late for Regrets
After the call connected, Mr. Longman's voice came through the phone, "Brandon, where are you
now?"
Brandon inquired, "What's going on?"
"Olive's condition has worsened, and she wishes to see you. Could you come visit her?" Mr. Longman's
voice was choked with emotion.
Brandon had seen Olive's condition and knew that there was unlikely to be any imminent danger.
However, Mr. Longman's request caught Brandon off guard.
"Uncle Longman, I'm currently unavailable to come over, and I'm not a doctor, so my presence wouldn't
make much of a difference. I won't go," Brandon replied firmly.
Brandon knew how to prioritize matters.
The connection was severed after this exchange.
Just as Brandon hung up with Mr. Longman, Berton's call came through.
Brandon answered promptly, "What's the matter?"
Berton's tone was hesitant, but he relayed the information truthfully, "Mr. Hawkins, Miss Thompson...
She's been taken away."
Upon hearing Berton's words, a subtle change flickered across Brandon's expression, and he asked in
a stern tone, "By whom?"
Even through the phone, Berton could detect the anger in Brandon's voice and didn't dare delay. He
provided the truth, "Anthony."
As the name Anthony reached Brandon's ears, his face grew colder than before. "Keep someone
tailing them and provide me with their real-time location."
Berton complied and hung up, sending Brandon Anthony's and Sandy's location.
Having received Berton's information, Brandon drove directly toward the indicated location.
Currently, they were on the Viteto overpass.
Anthony steered with one hand on the wheel, glancing at Sandy, who sat silently in the passenger seat.
He attempted to speak several times, but each time, the words caught in his throat.
Finally, Sandy turned her head toward Anthony and asked softly, "What did you want to say?"
Upon hearing Sandy's question, a wry smile tugged at Anthony's lips. "What can I possibly say?"
Sandy wasn't in the mood for wordplay, and Anthony's response didn't resonate with her.
Consequently, she remained silent after his remark.
The interior of the car fell into silence once again.
The Viteto overpass was the longest in Viteto and its surrounding cities.
It took nearly half an hour to drive down from the bridge.
During this half-hour drive, neither Sandy nor Anthony spoke. However, as soon as they got off the
overpass, they encountered a traffic jam.
Anthony looked at the row of cars blocking the exit up ahead, and a slight smirk formed on his lips. He
glanced at Sandy, who was beside him, and mused, "I wonder if they'll make way for us if I try to push
through. They're probably here to block you."
Sandy looked at the cars obstructing their path and asked, "Blocking me?"
After watching Sandy for a few seconds, Anthony nodded. "Yes, so you got into my car. It's too late for
regrets now."
Sandy's mind was in turmoil, resembling a pot of boiling porridge. She found even thinking exhausting
at this point, so she didn't dwell on Anthony's words. When he mentioned breaking through, she had
already mentally prepared herself.
Prepared for the possibility of not making it out of this alive.
After all, her heart was already dead, and whether she continued to exist seemed insignificant.
"Let's go."
Sandy shifted her gaze away and offered a faint response.
Anthony, understanding Sandy's state of mind, gently accelerated the car, heading straight for the cars
blocking their path. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Anthony knew these cars weren't here to obstruct him, but rather to hinder Sandy.
Brandon was undoubtedly the one behind this.
So, Anthony was confident that the other party wouldn't truly stand in their way.
He was even more certain that Sandy wouldn't get hurt.
As expected, as their car approached, the cars almost simultaneously began to reverse and make way.
Anthony successfully navigated through them and quickly left the obstruction behind.
Although they had cleared the way, the cars that had been following them soon caught up.
Anthony stared at the cars trailing behind them in the rearview mirror, his gaze darkening.
He looked at Sandy's face and hesitated for a few seconds before deciding to accelerate, leaving the
pursuing vehicles in the dust.
The car sped along the wide road, quickly distancing itself from the cars behind.
After they had shaken off all the followers, Anthony let out a sigh of relief. However, when he turned to
look at Sandy, he realized that she had fallen asleep at some point.
Anthony was taken aback. Sleeping in such a situation was something he hadn't expected, especially
from Sandy.
Looking at Sandy's peaceful sleeping face, Anthony couldn't help but let out a low chuckle.
The car gradually entered the outskirts of Viteto, and Anthony picked up his phone to call Hiruma.
After the call connected, Hiruma answered promptly. Before Anthony could speak, Hiruma's voice
came through the phone, "Anthony, where are you guys?"
Anthony glanced around and casually mentioned the name of a nearby store.
"Keep going straight. About five hundred meters ahead, there's an intersection. Turn right, and you'll be
there. We've prepared some food, light fare, and the room is ready too."
Hiruma knew Anthony well, so he chose to convey all the information at once.
After listening to Hiruma's instructions, Anthony responded with a quiet "Okay" and didn't say anything
more.
