Mrs. Bart's laughter put Nelson completely at ease. He could sense that she wasn't here to make him Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
break up with Jim.
"I talked to Jim, and his attitude is just like yours," Mrs. Bart said as she sipped her coffee. "I thought he
was the serious one, and you might have had other thoughts, but now it seems that your hearts are
aligned."
Nelson inquired, "So, Auntie, what is your stance..."
"Have you told your parents about you and Jim? Your relationship?" Mrs. Bart interrupted Nelson with
this question.
Shaking his head, Nelson replied, "Not yet."
After answering, Nelson looked at Mrs. Bart and asked, "Did Jim tell you about us?"
"No, I discovered you two together on my own," Mrs. Bart admitted.
Nelson fell silent for a moment before speaking softly, "I'll find the right time to talk to my parents about
this. I won't let Jim suffer."
"I'm not concerned about whether you're suffering or not. I just hope Jim can have a smoother life. I'm
willing to accept everything else," Mrs. Bart's intention was clear. As long as Jim lived peacefully, other
matters were insignificant to her.
Nelson nodded in response. "Auntie, don't worry. I'll take good care of Jim."
"Alright, I just wanted to gauge your attitudes. Since you're both so resolute, let's find a time to meet in
the future."
"Sure," Nelson agreed.
"And you can tell Jim about this meeting," Mrs. Bart said as she stood up. "I have some other matters
to attend to."
Nelson stood up and escorted her to her car. After watching Mrs. Bart drive away, he turned back and
returned to the photography studio.
Nelson was well aware that the path he and Jim had chosen was fraught with challenges.
But they had chosen it, and they weren't going to give up when faced with difficulties or pressure from
others. Even if the road ahead was filled with obstacles, they wouldn't back down.
"Nelson, what are you daydreaming about? You're about to crash into a wall!"
Nelson was pulled out of his thoughts by someone grabbing his arm.
He turned to the person and smiled, "Thinking about you."
"Tsk, don't think about me. I can't handle it!" the person replied.
Nelson chuckled, "You're quite conceited!"
"Nelson, seriously, are you thinking about some pretty girl? I have a friend who saw you before and fell
in love at first sight," the new assistant at the photography studio, a petite and cute girl, spoke.
Nelson burst into laughter upon hearing this. "Are you trying to play matchmaker?"
The girl nodded, "Isn't it obvious?"
Nelson lowered his voice and said, "You better ask Mr. He, our boss, first. If he agrees, then I'll meet
her."
The girl looked puzzled. "Why would you need to ask Mr. He? Aren't you friends?"
"Because he's my relative," Nelson casually remarked.
The girl was even more confused. "Cousins or something?"
Thinking for a moment, she responded, "Probably cousins."
After a pause, she continued, "Odelia, why don't you come find me after work? I'll try to set you two
up."
"Sounds good! I'll be there at your studio on time!"
"Alright, see you later!"
Meanwhile, Nelson's elevator had reached the sixth floor. Stepping out, he immediately spotted Jim
engaged in a conversation with Brandon. Mrs. Bart's words from earlier were still echoing in his mind.
He stood on the side for a moment, then turned and headed towards the restroom.
The restroom was unoccupied at the moment. Nelson splashed water on his face, trying to clear his
thoughts. After a moment, he took out his phone and dialed a number.
The call connected almost instantly.
Before Nelson could say anything, the voice on the other end roared, "You brat! Do you think we're all
done for?"
Nelson awkwardly responded, "I'm at Brandon's place. You know he's been having issues with his wife.
I'm helping him out. He's not that young anymore. If his wife leaves him, he'll be a bachelor!"
"You're concerned about others, but can't you spare a thought for yourself?"
Nelson sighed and remained silent for a few seconds before saying, "I'm still young, aren't I? When the
time is right, I'll talk about it."
"What's the rush? Don't you have your fair share of romantic adventures around you? I think that girl
from the Yang family is not bad. How about I..."
"Mom! Don't, don't meddle with that poor girl!" Nelson interrupted.
"Why not? Your mother is just trying to help. Besides, you're a talented young man. Why call it
meddling?" Mrs. Penn's voice rang out loudly from the other end.
Nelson rubbed his temples and said, "Mom, there's something I want to discuss with you."
"What is it? Your tone doesn't sound like good news." Mrs. Penn's voice turned serious. "Why don't you
tell me in person? I'll prepare myself mentally."
Nelson chuckled, "I'm afraid if I tell you in person, you'll give me a slap as soon as I do."
Mrs. Penn laughed. "Since you know that I might slap you in person, take your time to think it over
before you say anything."
Nelson's heart raced upon hearing this. Did they all know already? Were they just waiting for him to
take the bait?
Thinking this, Nelson felt a sudden sense of nervousness.
"Mom, did you hear something from someone?"
Although he hadn't explicitly expressed his relationship with Jim outside, the people around them
should have noticed something.
"It seems you really have something to talk about. And it so happens that your father and I have
something to discuss with you too. Let's talk about it tonight when you come back," Mrs. Penn said,
leaving no room for Nelson to decline before promptly hanging up.
This kind of action felt like a notification to Nelson, letting him know that he should prepare himself for
what's to come.
