Chapter 172: It Was Better to Get a Divorce
Yanis hesitated before reaching out to take it.
There was no pain on her face. But it might still be swollen.
"Yanis and Iris are just friends."
Just as Yanis put the ice pack on her face, Zane's faint voice sounded.
Apparently, Zane said this to Lucia.
When Lucia heard this, she glared at Zane. "What? Do you have to see her on another man's bed to
believe she's shameless?"
"Lucia, would you mind not being so rude when you talk?" Catherine couldn't stand Lucia's sharp
tongue. She whispered, "Yanis has been in the Lawrence family for a long time. I know what she is like
better than you do!"
Lucia listened to Catherine's words, then turned to Catherine, "You are blinded to think that Yanis is a
nice woman. We have seen a lot of her being with other men. God knows behind our back, how many
men she has seduced!"
Then Lucia looked at Zane again. "Look at her, she was having a confusing relationship with Mr. Baxter
before. And now, she is seen with the heir of the Duncan Group. If this gets out, it ruins the reputation
of the Lawrence family!"
Just as Zane was about to speak, Yanis spoke first. She put the ice pack down on the table and looked
up at Lucia with a cold look. "Mrs. Lawrence, I married Zane. This only the Thompson family and
Lawrence family know. Basically, no one else knows. Even if I did have an obscure relationship with
someone else and brought shame to the Lawrence family, it was you who told my identity to the public
in the mall. You revealed this secret that had been hidden for five years."
At this point, Yanis paused, her eyes falling on Zane. "Fine, let's go get divorced today."
Zane looked at Yanis with a frown as he heard Yanis' words.
Yanis didn't make eye contact with Zane. "I know where the marriage certificate is. I'll get it."
Yanis' tone and attitude made Zane's mind wander for a moment.
She was pushing him away, and he was upset that she was trying to distance herself from him.
Before he could say anything, Yanis was already at the stairs.
Zane came back to his senses and tried to stop Yanis, but Lucia grabbed him and said, "Zane, let her
get it!"
In fact, Lucia was also convinced that Yanis was just bluffing.
If she really wanted to divorce Zane, for the sake of the money of the Lawrence family, Yanis was not
going to divorce Zane so easily.
So, Lucia stopped Zane, she wanted to see if Yanis was willing to divorce Zane.
"Mom, I can handle my business with Yanis on my own."
Zane struggled his arm out of Lucia's hand and moved forward.
"Zane! If you don't divorce her today, I'll die in front of you today!"
Lucia took the knife from the table and held it to her neck.
Zane paused, frowning, and looked at Lucia.
"Lucia, what are you doing?" Miller stood up and tried to take the knife from Lucia.
Lucia took two steps back. "Don't you dare come here!"
Catherine looked at Lucia and her face changed. "What are you doing? Put the knife down!"
Lucia ignored her and looked at Zane. "Zane, are you going to watch me die in front of you?"
Zane stood still at the stairs and just looked at Lucia.
"Do you really want me to die for a slutty woman like Yanis?"
Lucia pushed him hard, giving Zane no way to say no.
Just then, the phone in Zane's pocket started ringing.
Zane, who wasn't in the mood at the time, didn't answer the phone. He just looked at Lucia.
After all, Lucia was the one who gave birth to him, so he couldn't ignore her or just watch this happen.
However, the phone kept ringing.
Edison, sitting aside, glanced at Zane. "You answer the phone first."
Zane hesitated and took out his phone.
When Zane saw the caller ID, he narrowed his eyes and answered. "yes?"
"Zane, I'm with Anika. Do you have time to come over?"
Neve's voice sounded extremely soft, but Zane heard something else.
She was threatening him.
Zane wasn't talking back, and Neve wasn't in a hurry.
After a few seconds of stalemate, Neve's voice arose over the phone. "Zane, I heard Miss Thompson
and Mr. Duncan had a relationship. Is that true?"
"Lucia texted me just now and said that you are going to divorce Miss Thompson. Are you finished yet?
If you are done..."
"Neve."
Zane stopped her in a cold voice. "I'll send Albi to pick her up."
"Zane, I'll take care of her. Why don't you go and finish the procedure with Miss Thompson?"
"Neve!"
Neve's voice was still soft and casual. She whispered, "Zane, you know, what I want is very simple.
Fame, fortune, and you!"
Zane clutched his phone. He was threatened by Lucia on one side and Neve on the other.
Zane felt for a moment that he was not even qualified to stand beside Yanis.
"I see," he said.
After a long silence, Zane replied and hung up.
Instead of going upstairs, he looked at Lucia. "I'll go with her to get it done."
Yanis reached the top of the stairs and just in time, she heard Zane's compromising words.
Even though there was no expectation in her heart, Yanis frowned instinctively when she heard Zane's
words from his own mouth.
Then Yanis walked down the stairs and walked to Zane's face. "Where is the agreement we signed
before?" Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Zane stared at her for a few seconds. "I'll have Albi deliver it."
Yanis nodded. "Ok, let's go now."
Things got to the point where there seemed to be no room for anyone to save their marriage.
Neither Catherine nor Edison nor even Miller spoke again.
Sophia stood by and looked at Yanis. She felt sorry for Yanis, but she was only a servant and had no
right to speak.
Then Catherine stood up. "In this case, fine. Go get a divorce! Go!"
Catherine glanced at Yanis and sighed, but said nothing more. Then she turned around and ask Sophia
to accompany her back to the room.
At this point, nothing was meaningful anymore.
So, they might as well get the divorce done. Nothing needed to be said.
Let it be a good ending.
