Chapter 156
Chapter 156
When Mason was about to head to the office the next morning, the servant informed him that someone had come, bringing two items. Mason adjusted his cufflinks, his eyebrows relaxing. "Where are the items?"
The servant presented two meticulously crafted boxes, intending to carry them to the second floor for Mason. However, he calmly said, "I'll handle it myself.”
He took the boxes upstairs and gently opened them.
The two items, though cleaned and repaired, couldn't restore the words Zoe wrote in the past.
It was a diary, half filled with Zoe's passionate and naive words and half with white silk paper.
Mason's slender fingers gently touched those words. His expression was tender as if looking at Zoe when she was 18, passionately in love with him
He looked at it for a long time, and the photo was hung on the wall.
Three days later, Zoe met Mason at a social event.
She and David were seeking sponsorship for a dinner. After drinking two glasses of red wine. she felt a bit lightheaded. She washed her face with cold water in the restroom and took her time to recover, but still felt somewhat uncomfortable.
Tonight's plan went down the drain...
Zoe knew it was because she was Mason's wife that people were disregarding her. Their separation was known to everyone, and no one would risk Mason's displeasure to invest in her concert.
Footsteps approached outside the restroom. After a moment, a familiar figure appeared in the mirror.
It was Mason
The two locked eyes in the mirror. He was well-dressed, dignified, and flourishing, starkly contrasting her disheveled appearance.
Zoe closed the golden tap and prepared to leave.
However, he caught her delicate wrist.
In a while, she fell into his arms, her face forced against his well-made suit jacket, which had the scent of dry cleaning and a hint of tobacco. "Let me go,” Zoe spoke in a low voice
Mason didn't release his grip. He slightly lowered his head to assess her.
She wore achampagne-colored silk.

Mason frowned. "Is this how you dress for a social event?"
Zoe pushed him away.
She opened the tap again, squeezed some hand soap, and began washing. "It's none of your business. We're separated.”
Mason watched her from behind. "We are still husband and wife even though we're separated. Besides, I haven't agreed to anything.” Zoe remained silent.
She slowly cleaned her hands, then left. As she reached the restroom doorway, Mason softly said. "I've had your diary repaired, Zoe. Come back with me.”
Zoe paused. In the mirror, Mason watched her. His voice softened even more, "Zoe, come back with me."
Tears welled up in Zoe's eyes.
Before she married Mason, he used te call her Zoe.
He hadn't forgotten.
Her throat tightened, and she spoke
softly, "Masofi, maybe you have a
tiny bit of. affection for me now, but,
the damage you've caused me ins
these three years is too severe.
"Or is it so thatevery time I start feeling therevmight be some nope between us? you'll crush it all over ¢ again? M Mason, ask yourself, has ~ Lilith disappeared from your wane? No, ght? If you have even a actiny bit offéelings for me, let me go"
Under the crystal chandelier, Mason’s face was pale. He looked at her. "I will arrange for her to go abroad! She won't disturb you again." Zoe didn't argue with him. It was meaningless. She just quietly walked out of his sight.
Outside, David was standing there, his expression somewhat complicated. "Are you okay?”
