I Refuse to Divorce

Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Lilith's parents turned out to be former employees of the Sanders family.

At that moment, a waiter brought a large plate of fish, but Mia had no appetite.

She remained indignant. "There's definitely something fishy about the Wright family."

Zoe also felt uneasy. She gently pressed Mia's hand, offering comforting words.

She understood Mia. Mia came from a well-off family, and at 26, she had chosen to marry the 40- year-old Gordon, who already had a son and a daughter. This decision severed ties with her own family.

Mia was proud. She swore to live well, to prove that her choice was right. Now, she felt trampled underfoot by former servants. She could not swallow this humiliation.

Zoe comforted her.

She also mentioned the money. "With this money, things will be much easier. Mom, our lives will only get better from here."

Mia chuckled after being cheered up, but she could not hold back her tears as she laughed.

"Zoe, I'm not doing this for myself. I just can't stand it for your sake. The daughter of a driver and a cook shouldn't look down on you." After a pause, she continued, "Mason must be blind."

Zoe continued to soothe her, nodding along.

After venting, Mia felt much better. She was concerned about her husband, so she hastily left after eating a little, leaving Zoe staring blankly at the large plate of fish.

"Mrs. Zoe!"

Suddenly, a voice rang in her ears, familiar yet unfamiliar.

Zoe looked up and saw Lilith.

Lilith was sitting in a wheelchair wearing hospital clothes, looking fragile. However, those seemingly gentle apricot eyes carried a cunning shrewdness.

Lilith had no other choice but to come find Zoe. Mason refused to answer her calls and did not come to see her at the hospital. When she called Ava, the response was always sarcastic, saying she was reaching for the stars.

Panicking, she came to Zoe.

Lilith came from a humble background and had a crude approach. Regardless of her own status, she tearfully looked at Zoe, even grabbing onto Zoe's sleeve, portraying a pitiful image.

"Mrs. Zoe, I beg you not to get involved with Mason. We truly love each other. If you step back, I promise we will be very happy together. You can't force love, Mrs. Zoe, don't you agree?"

Zoe had been married to Mason for three years.

Lilith had been present for three years, but this was the first time Zoe faced her.

She was vulgar and shameless.

In the past, Zoe would have been at a loss. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Perhaps because she no longer cared about Mason, she surprisingly remained calm. She even responded to Lilith in a calm and composed manner.

"Ms. Lilith, you should say these things to Mason. Often, the problem lies with the man when it comes to these matters, not with the woman."

Lilith bit her lip, looking embarrassed.

In her impression, Zoe was very naive. She had not expected her to be so indifferent. She came forward, no longer caring about her dignity. Following Zoe, Lilith shouted, "He doesn't love you at all."

Zoe halted.

Lilith revealed a triumphant expression. She lifted her head slightly and continued speaking.

"If he loved you, why didn't he save your brother? If he loved you, why did he let your father stay in such a shabby hospital room while I stayed in the VIP ward at Samphia Hospital, enjoying the best doctors? Mrs. Zoe, he doesn't love you at all."

Zoe lowered her gaze and calmly said, "That's not your problem."

As she left, her heart ached intensely.

She knew all of that.

She knew Mason did not love her.

She was well aware of this after being married for three years.
