I Want You Back

Chapter 66

Angel Leffman

I looked at Elisa, and she was pale and scared, not knowing what to do or say. Her gaze fixed on me. I don't know what expression I had at that moment, but it must not have been good because she was shaking with fear, and I vaguely heard the doctor calling my name. "Angel, calm down. I'm going to call your friend."

"Please don't leave me alone," Elisa pleaded with the doctor, and listening to her was the trigger that brought me out of the trance.

"Three and a half months; the date doesn't add up. What are you going to tell me now?" I waited for a response, but she remained silent. "You chose to be silent now? You, who has an answer for everything?" I approached her, and she backed away. "When you told me that you were pregnant, you told me you were three months old, and it was a lie. Was I the only idiot you tried to fool, or was I the only one who believed it was his without hesitation?"

I was blinded by rage, and I felt like I wouldn't be able to control the desire to hurt her.

"Do you even know who the father was? Out of everyone you slept with, do you even know which one it was?" I asked and still didn't get a response. "Answer me!" I threw the chair on the floor as I approached her. "Do you know who the father was? You told him you were pregnant, and like a smart man, he didn't believe you, knowing you were the campus slut."

"Angel, don't come closer!" She shakily said while holding her arms forward, as if they could save her from me.

I smirked at her, liking the look on her face. "Are you afraid?"

Harry entered the room with the doctor a minute later. "Angel," I heard him call me.

"Don't get involved, Harry," I spoke without taking my eyes off Elisa and continued. "You thought that idiot Angel would believe anything you told him, right? You must have thought I'd believe you because you play the sweet and pure girl, but you had to make the dates add up for me to believe you; that's why you said three months, and I actually believed you. Didn't it make you sick to sleep with other men and then jump into my bed like it was nothing? Of course not; what would you know about disgust? Women like you don't care who they sleep with, as long as they get what they want."

"I-I don't..."

"You don't know what?! Are you going to tell me that it's a lie?! That the doctor is also against you and they bought her to lie to me?!" I screamed and pointed at the doctor. "Did they buy you to humiliate her because someone wants to harm sweet Elisa?" The doctor looks at me and denies

it.

"You are shameless and dirty, not because you are a slut who opens your legs to anyone; it is your body, so you are free to do what you want with it, but because you go through life selling the image of a good, innocent girl who doesn't break a plate while you hurt people, that makes you a horrible human being."

"Angel, let's go; you already know i wasn't yours." Harry tried to stop me when I approached Elisa.

"I'm going to give you a chance to tell me why, of all the men, you chose me to be your toy." She avoided my gaze and looked at Harry for help, but I grabbed her jaw. "Look at me and answer!" "Because I loved you and you didn't notice me," Elisa said with tears in her eyes, and I knew it was a lie.

"Liar!" My grip on her jaw tightened when she tried to get away. "Don't waste what little sanity I have left, Dalton."

"You were the only man on the campus. You were a gentleman, fair, and kind, without asking for anything in return, as well as intelligent. You respected the girls at parties; you even took care of them when they had too many drinks so that none of those guys would come and abuse us. You were a millionaire with a bright future, and I wanted you for myself, but you wouldn't even look at me; you had eyes only for..."

"Don't you dare mention her name with that dirty mouth?"

"When I saw you following her at the party, I saw that you entered her room. I thought you would follow her, but Kevin entered. I thought that moment was perfect and that you would think that they were going out together. You thought about the rest, and then Kevin came out, spreading the rumor that he had slept with her."

"But you knew it was a lie." I squeezed her even more. I know I'm hurting her, and I don't care; I want to hurt her the way she did to me.

"I knew it, but you were hurt and you started drinking uncontrollably. You already know the rest. All I wanted was for you to be my boyfriend, to love me, to treat me differently than the others."

"Is that why you continued your life as a bitch in heat with any man who approached you?"

"You barely looked at me, Angel; I knew you were with me because of guilt. During those six months together, you only touched me twice, both times you were drunk and you mistook me for her," she said with accusations and bitterness in her voice.

"That was obvious; Sofia is too much of a woman to be compared to you, Elisa."

"Yes, she was perfect; she had the nicest boys around her, but they see her as the untouchable girl, especially after she humiliated Kevin in college by denying that they had slept together."

I let her go and tried to calm down because I still needed answers. "So if you already had me and had gotten what you wanted, you got pregnant and put that responsibility on me, which I accepted without complaints. Why invent all those shits? Why did you make me believe that I was unfaithful to you? Elisa, I suggest you think twice before lying to me."

"You had a luxurious life, Angel, a bright future, and I was with you, but you suddenly decided to leave that life, your family, and be a normal person who works hard, and you wanted me to live with you."

"And as a spoiled girl, accustomed to luxuries, you were afraid to experience the life of a commoner," I finished for her. "You could have just broken up with me; why did you have to do such a terrible thing?" "Because you weren't going to leave me, much less with a baby."

"The baby," I remember when I started to love that child and how guilty I felt for not loving their mother. I wanted to give them the love that my father never gave me. "You made me love that baby, and I got excited about being a great father, but what did you do?" My blood boiled again, and I'm afraid my teeth will fall. "You decided that it was better that they were not born because they weren't part of your ambitious life!"

"I wasn't ready to be a mother, Angel!" She instantly defended herself.

"You told me that Sofia had killed my child! You invented so many things that made her look like the villain when she wasn't! You made me hate the woman I love because I believed in your lies for years! You created a man full of rage, resentment, and guilt for feeling love towards the woman he should hate. You made me hurt her while you were enjoying your f*****g life. What did you gain from that?"

All the insults I made to Sofia came to mind, and I became blinded by rage. The next thing I saw was my hands around her neck as I choked her, and Harry asked me to let her go. I saw her eyes filled with tears and fear, and her face was ghastly pale.

"Angel, you're killing her; let her go!"

"That's what I want, Harry-to kill her!"

"And she deserves that, but you're going to go to prison, and you will leave Sofia behind!" Harry tried to reason it out and used his strength to try and pull me away.

"How will you repay me for those years of pain I caused her? Huh?!" I asked her, and I saw her losing consciousness.

"Angel! Think about Sofia! What is she going to do if you kill her and you end up in jail? Let her the f**k go!"

I let her go. The doctor approaches her as she coughs and catches her breath.

In a minute, the office is filled with guards, and Harry takes charge of the situation. I grabbed the file and Elisa. "Let's go."

"I'm not going anywhere with you," she refuses while coughing.

"I'm not asking you," I told her coldly, and she looked at me with a scared look on her face. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you, although I am tempted to, but I'm not going to ruin my life for you. You've done enough damage as it is." I then turned to the doctor. "Thank you so much for your cooperation, and I apologize for the destruction of your office. Send me the invoice for what I have broken, and I will pay for it."

I grabbed Elisa and dragged her out of the office, with Harry following closely behind me.

"Angel, for God's sake, what are you going to do?"

"If you are so worried, then follow us," I told him, pushing Elisa inside the car.

Where are we going? What are you going to do to me?"

"I told you that you were going to suffer if you lied to me, and you still did it. Even a few days ago, I gave you the opportunity to speak, and you still chose to lie to me."

I made a call and hit the road in a minute. It didn't take long before we reached her family's business. I dragged her up to the office where her father, David, and her mother, who had just arrived, were.

"Angel," she called me when we arrived. "What's happening?"

They were shocked when they saw their daughter pale and disheveled.

"Angel, what did you do?" David angrily asked me, and Harry entered the office. I threw Elisa on the floor like the trash she is.

"Elisa, you once told me that you were a religious family and that losing your virginity before marriage was an offense to you, as well as pregnancy. We all know that is a lie, because well, I think everybody here knows your particular history with men." "Angel," her father interrupts me, "I understand that you're upset, but..."

"I told you that if I found out that she was lying to me about the baby, I wasn't going to let it go."

David looks at me and approaches. "Yes, you told me."

"Then be thankful I didn't kill her like the bitch she is."

"Angel, I know you're hurt, but I won't let you...!" I interrupted Elisa's father because my patience had reached its limit.

"I don't really need your permission. Your daughter is miraculously alive because they prevented me from killing her; otherwise, you would have a corpse right now."

"And what did she do?" David asks me.

"Your sweet sister not only has the audacity to say that I had taken her virginity and that I made her pregnant, which is a lie, but I also found out that that baby was not mine," I revealed to them, and David looked at his sister with disappointment but maintained his composure. "Please tell me that's not true," I hear Mrs. Dalton say.

"Five years ago, she dared to step into my house with crocodile tears, saying that I was responsible for the death of our child because I cheated on her with Sofia, a deception that never existed because she invented it. She told me that Sofia went to her residence and that she had confronted her with the evidence of my infidelity causing her to miscarry. She made me believe that Sofia had killed our child, and I have been thinking for five years that the woman I love killed my baby."

"And it turns out that the baby is not yours," Elisa's father finishes saying while he looks at his daughter.

"The fact that the baby wasn't mine isn't what made me almost kill her; it's the fact that she had an induced abortion." The three were shocked at my revelation. "She got rid of that baby as if had no life and had the nerve to go to my house to say that it was Sofia who killed the infant and that it was my fault for deceiving her. Do you have any idea what it's like to think for five years that the woman you love is responsible for the death of your child? To feel guilty about it and make the woman you love suffer because of that lie? No, you don't know, neither does she." "Dear God!" Elisa's mother exclaimed, and she almost fainted.

"What kind of human being are you?" Her father asked with clear disappointment and disgust on his face. "What kind of monster have we raised?"

"Dad..." Elisa started, her lips quivering.

"Here, you can see the evidence of what I said there, so you can see that it's not a lie. Everything is there."

"What do you want, Angel?" David asked me straightforwardly. "I'm sure that's not the only reason you brought her."

"I want you to kick her out of the country. I don't want her here. I don't want her breathing the same air as my wife; I don't want to see her anywhere; and I want to forget that she exists; otherwise, she is going to suffer a lot from me and you with her." "Angel, even so, you might still see her anywhere in the world."

"You are going to make sure that would never happen for your own good, that of your family and hers. I'm being benevolent. I think you know my reputation is not exactly being the compassionate man with my enemies, and your sister has earned more than that."

I left the office and went to my apartment to finish some things. All through it, Harry remained by my side, probably afraid I might snap.

"Do you think David or her parents will take her out of the country?"

"They will, because if not, I would destroy them in a minute, and because they will be forced to do it."

"I don't understand, Angel."

"Harry, you reviewed the document you found on my desk about Sofia and Elisa, and you asked me what I'm going to do with it, right?"

"I didn't see Elisa's; I only skimmed Sofia's that were in Germany and then in France."

"Well, it turns out that Elisa has done more damage than we thought. The Arab was not the only one she deceived with her pretentious act; there are many more. She is a big-time scammer, and they are looking for her in the Netherlands for stealing from companies, from businesses, and from men." I told Harry with an evil smirk plastered on my face. Harry was in disbelief for a second. "I can't believe it. Why would a rich girl do that? Did you leak that to the press?"

"I don't know why she does it, and I don't care, but it favors me. And no, I haven't leaked anything to the press because I wouldn't gain anything from that. But I did pass the information on to the police and made sure those people know where to find the person responsible for their misfortune."

"And when did you do that?" He asked me with a frown on his face.

"I told you I was going to make her suffer. Imagine a girl of her category with those brutes in prison. How is she going to deal with all of her legal problems? Neither David nor Mr. Dalton will be able to save her."

"You had this planned, and you didn't tell me?" He almost whined like a puppy, and I just laughed at him.

"I had been planning it for days, ever since I found out that the baby was not mine. The original plan was for those men to know and, once here, she would figure out how to solve it. But when I found out about the abortion, I thought the best way to make a spoiled brat like her suffer was to take away her luxurious life."

"A sweet revenge, but I bet her family is not going to let that happen."

"Even with all their fortune, they wouldn't be able to save her. The scams are large-scale, and those affected are important people, not just simple businessmen. She has messed around with influential people who won't give in easily. Besides, she hurt the ego and m*****d of those men." "Wow, you had all this well stored," Harry commented while clapping his hands.

"The best is always saved for last. Did you think I would let her leave the country like it was nothing, so she could continue to live a happy life, fooling fools like me? It seems like you don't know me, man."

"I know you; that's why you surprised me. For a minute, I thought you were really going to kill her."

"I was going to kill her; at that moment, I didn't care at all. Thank you; if you hadn't been there, you would probably be looking to get me out of jail for murder right now." I gripped his shoulder and patted his cheek gently.

"How long do you think it will take to find out about the scam and for her men to start arriving?"

"Right now, the police should be at the office or at Dalton's house. As for the victims, it is a matter of hours before they arrive and demand compensation."

"And if they manage to get her out of the country?"

"They wouldn't be able to because I took care of that. They should have known that I wouldn't let this slide."

"I have never seen you so upset in my life, and I don't blame you; you have been suffering for five years because of a lie, and Sofia..." Harry trailed off with a heavy sigh.

"Sofia is the victim in all this because, in reality, she has not done anything and she was not even aware of it. How is she supposed to forgive me after everything I did? Elisa wanted to separate us, and she did it well, even before we were together.

"But now you two are married and love each other. It's just a matter of talking, healing wounds, and trusting."NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

"I thought so as well, but Sofia is acting strange these days, and the German isn't helping."

"German?"

"Yes, she has a German partner who came to the country. The bastard is shameless in admitting that he likes my wife in front of me and that he'll take her away from me. What irks me is that Sofia is not even turning him down." "My friend, don't exaggerate; maybe you are just a jealous man with a malicious mind."

"Last night, I had dinner at home. Sofia made an effort to prepare the a*****e's favorite dinner and dessert for him. He flirted with her in front of me, and she entertained it. I had never seen her feel like that before, so calm, relaxed, and happy."

"You don't know that for sure. Also, as I told you before, you two haven't given yourselves a chance. You are always full of doubts. You already solved the matter with Elisa, so there is nothing that can ruin what you have now."

"The problem is her pride. Sofia is a proud and arrogant woman, and I've hurt her. She's honestly right; I can't just decide to love her the way she deserves and expect her to forgive me after five years."

"Angel, you had your reasons."

"Even so. That doesn't change the fact that she has suffered a lot because of me."

"What are you going to do now? Are you going to let her go so she can live her life?"

"No. I'm going to talk to her and try to get to a point where we can heal because we both need it. I'll ask her to allow me to show her that I love her. I know she loves me because I can feel it. She's hurt, but she loves me. I have to work on getting her to trust me again." Harry nodded his head in agreement. "That seems like a good plan."

"But lately, her mood has been unbearable. She's easily irritated when she sees me. Just looking at me makes her angry." I found myself confiding while he just laughed.

"You're overreacting."

"I'm telling you I'm not. She's been avoiding me, she lies about her whereabouts, and we fight over anything. If I don't annoy her, she annoys me. I think she's already reached the limit of hating me."

"Do you really believe that? After everything you've been through."

"Maybe she got tired of dealing with me, and I think I have done something to make her believe that I am not the man of her dreams. All I want is to see her happy. I have already caused her too much damage, directly or indirectly, so I will do whatever it takes to make her happy." "What if she doesn't want to be with you anymore? What will you do?"

"I don't even want to think about that possibility. I prefer not to consider it for now. Harry, I have to go, and by the way, you mentioned that Sofia traveled to Germany and met with a civil engineering company. What I don't get is why Sofia would be doing business with a civil engineering company?"

Harry thought for a second before shaking her head. "I have no idea. You'll have to ask her, man."

"I've already tried, but she avoids me. Plus, I think she handles technology pretty well, don't you think?"

"Who can't do it in this world full of technology, Angel?" He deadpanned, and I shot him an annoyed stare.

"But not at that level; she gets information that no one else can, and she distributes it in a matter of minutes." I paused and remembered about the agility she had in France for technology and advertising. "You know what? Never mind. You're right."

"When was I ever wrong? You better stop thinking about nonsense, Angel. Elisa is out of your life, and there is nothing that will ruin your happiness with Sofia, but remember to trust your wife."

"I'll do that."

I left the building, and I called her, but she didn't answer. This is becoming a routine, seriously. Maybe she is still upset about yesterday's misunderstanding. I checked my phone, and I had several missed calls from my parents, sister, and Dalton; even in less than three hours, I had four calls from Harry. I found it strange, but I was not going to focus on anything but Sofia, so I bought her a nice gift and went to her apartment.

When I arrived, I found her with the German sharing a romantic kiss in front of the door.

"Are you serious?" I asked in disbelief, and they both turned to me.

Fate is trying to turn me into a murderer today.
