Chapter 46 Military's Residential Compound
Chapter 46 Military's Residential Compound
In the morning, Cherry felt the warm body beside her leave the bed. She opened her eyes and saw
Jackson dressing, and then she looked at the clock on the wall and found that it was only six o'clock.
"Why did you get up so early? Are you going back to the camp?" said Cherry.
Jackson saw Cherry wake up, and while he bent over and kissed her, he said, "Well, I've been quite
busy recently, and I have to go back to the barracks to deal with some work. You can sleep a little
longer."
"Did coming back yesterday influence any of your work?" asked Cherry suddenly, worried.
Jackson fondly stroked her hair, and said, "No, and don't think too much about it. Sleep a little while
longer. I've left a bank card on the table for you, you can buy whatever you like with the money in the
account."
Cherry nodded, and then gently closed her eyes.
After that, Jackson got up and left.
It was already at noon time when Cherry opened her eyes again. She sat up and stretched, and as she
gently uncovered the quilt, she found Jackson's traces from the previous night. She put on her pajamas
with a wry smile, and then walked into the bathroom.
After she washed her face and brushed her teeth, Cherry had a simple breakfast, and planned to visit
Andrew at the military's compound. They had the responsibility to look after their grandfather, but now
that Jackson was so hard-pressed, the responsibility was passed onto her.
Before she went to the residential compound, Cherry went to a supermarket and bought a lot of fruit.
Just before she arrived the Chu clan house, she saw the butler cleaning at the door.
When the butler saw Cherry coming, he smiled, and hastened to greet her. "Mrs. Cherry, how are you
doing?" he said.
"I'm good. How are you?" cheerfully replied Cherry. When people are in good moods, they often treat
others nicely.
"Where's grandpa?"
The butler respectfully replied, "He is in the living room with your father."
"My father?" Cherry then suddenly stopped, because she hadn't heard a word from her father in a long
time. It sounded strange for her to hear that he was there, and wondered if she should call the man
who had hurt her father, or by his name, Harrison?
"Yes, Mr. Andrew especially invited him here to have a talk. After all, we are relatives by marriage, and
the relationships between the two clans are even closer, since your sister has just married Mr. John, "
said the butler, with a smile on his face.
Cherry didn't think that was the case, and wondered what the hell Harrison actually wanted. Did he
want to take advantage of the Chu clan? He had always been in the commercial circles, but when had
he become interested in the military circles as well?
"I'll go inside then, " and with these words, Cherry walked straight into the house.
When she entered the living room, she saw Andrew and Harrison chatting together. She put on a big
smile on her face and then walked up to them.
"Grandpa, I'm home, " said Cherry joyfully. She ignored Harrison completely.
Andrew and Harrison both looked at Cherry at the same time, but Harrison became nervous the
moment he saw her.
Andrew smiled, and said, "Cherry, so nice to see you."
"Grandpa, I've missed you so much!" she replied, and with this, she put the fruit she had bought for
Andrew on a table nearby.
As he looked at the heaps of fruit, Andrew thought to himself, 'She must be exhausted from carrying so
much fruit all by herself.'
"Why did you buy so much fruit? It's too heavy for you to take all by yourself, " said Andrew.
"It's good for your health to eat more fruit, " said Cherry meekly.
"Haha, my Cherry takes so good care of me, " laughed Andrew happily.
Andrew looked at Cherry, and said, "Call Jackson back and let's have lunch together, since your father
is also here."
Cherry glanced at Harrison and again ignored him. She replied, "Grandpa, Jackson was home last Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
night, but he went back to the barracks early this morning. He's been pretty busy in the army recently,
and we'd better not disturb him. I'll have lunch with you today, okay?"
Andrew was satisfied by Cherry's words, and happily said, "Okay, okay, you're so considerate."
Cherry smiled and looked at Harrison, but she still didn't speak to him.
"Cherry, since you married Jackson, you have seldom come back to the Shen clan. Have you already
forgotten us all?" said Harrison. He wanted to talk to Cherry, but he didn't know how to start the
conversation.
Since Andrew was there with them, Cherry didn't want to show her hatred towards Harrison. Even
though she knew that Harrison was just acting, she still had to be respectful with him.
Cherry stared at him, and said, "Dad, how could I ever forget the Shen household? It has nurtured me
for more than twenty years, and how could I ever forget the knowledge that I learned, and the life that I
enjoyed in the Shen household?"
Andrew smiled, and said to Harrison, "Mr. Harrison, Cherry is such a good child. How could she ever
forget her parents? She'll visit you when she has the time."
"Ha ha, I was just kidding. I know that she has her own life now and she is pretty busy with her own
affairs, we can understand, " said Harrison, with a fake smile on his face. Even the provincial governor
had to flatter Andrew, let alone him.
"You have taught the children well. Cherry is so considerate, and John's wife, Jean, is also good. Both
of your daughters are excellent, and you are really lucky!" said Andrew with a smile.
In a humble tone, Harrison replied, "I'm flattered."
