Chapter 817 When Will I Meet The Right Person (Part One)
In anger, Lawrence thundered dropping his wine on the ground. The sound of broken glass drew the
attention of the two men in black, who were standing guard outside. Promptly, they pushed the door
open and stormed into the private room.
He glared at the middle-aged man, wishing him dead.
"No one can dare to lay a hand on my family and get away with it. I should have let you pay the price
for your mistakes years ago," Lawrence began brusquely. If Violet had filled him in on this back then,
he wouldn't have figured it out only before he returned from abroad.
With a scornful eye, Mike looked down at the anxious man. "You should feel lucky that you have lived
so long," he sneered.
Then turning to the two men in black, he coldly ordered, "Take him away from here."
Promptly, the men grabbed and dragged the middle-aged man out.
Sounding panic-stricken, the man desperately pleaded, "Mr. Lawrence, please forgive me. It's all my
fault. I confess. Please let me go. Please."
Unmoved at heart, Lawrence didn't even pay the slightest attention to the man's imploring words. He
was mad at what his sister had suffered.
The room fell silent again. Greg sat on the couch, staring blankly ahead. He was in a mess.
Looking blankly ahead, Lawrence asked, "Do you think we are in urgent need of money, Greg? A
hundred million dollars means nothing to me. I can even give you ten billion." he added disdainfully.
Shaking his head, Greg replied, "I know she didn't lack of money. But I didn't expect that Aunt would
have treated Violet like that." He looked utterly downcast.
"Didn't you know that Sharon disliked Violet?' asked Mike, keenly following.
"I knew. Every time she gave Violet a hard time, I would come to Violet's rescue and snap at her,"
replied Greg, keeping his gaze on Mike.
"Why would Violet escape to Hong Kong? From what I've heard, Sharon didn't know Violet is from a
wealthy family. Unimpressed with your choice of a wife, Sharon looked down on Violet, wishing you
could marry from the aristocracy. It's a weird obsession Sharon has with class. Isn't it?" Mike asked
with a sneer.
An urge hit Greg to retort, but then he immediately realized there was truth in what Mike had said. So
he simply ignored the question and kept quiet.
"I will fulfill her wish," Lawrence broke in abruptly in an ice-cold tone.
When Mike and Greg heard this, they locked eyes. They both knew Lawrence wasn't kidding. That was
his way of saying he'd put Sharon in her right place. And of course, they both knew what Lawrence was
capable of.
"What do you want, Lawrence?" Greg asked with a rattled expression. Although he was on bad terms
with Sharon, he still regarded her as a part of the Xiao family. After all, she had kept his father company
for many years. "She is my father's wife," he added.
Lawrence shifted his gaze to look at Greg slowly. "So what? I won't spare anyone who hurt Violet. No
one is an exception," he declared.
The emphasis on that last sentence was unmistakable. He hadn't been informed of what Sharon's hired
goons had subjected Violet to. Otherwise, he would have already finished off Sharon long ago. She'd
be six feet under by now!
"Please don't hurt Sharon. If anything happens to her, my father will break down," Greg implored, as he
drew nearer and held Lawrence's arm. He didn't know why he would beg for Sharon. Perhaps, he had
actually considered her as a part his family. Even though he hadn't treated her well for years, deep
inside, he thought it needless taking revenge on her.
With a ferocious glance, Lawrence shook Greg's arm off. "You still want to speak for Sharon after all
the terrible things that Violet suffered at her hands? Heck, Violet only escaped death by a whisker,
Greg!" he angrily snarled.
The burning anger in Lawrence stunned Greg. Fortunately Violet hadn't been raped. Otherwise, he
wouldn't have spoken in Sharon's favor. He knew who mattered to him most.
When Greg remained silent, Lawrence continued, "You wanted to guard your family. I also want to
protect mine."
Dumbfounded, Mike stood aside, not knowing what to say. After all, it was their family affair. He thought
it improper to get his hands in.
"If my Dad knew about this, your family wouldn't be able to stay in this city anymore. You well know my
Dad's way of dealing with issues, didn't you?" Lawrence asked with a stern look on his face. Immersing
himself into deep thought, he rested his eyes on Greg. He hated to admit the fact Greg was his brother-
in-law. But at the thought of his lovely sister, he had no other option but to regard him as his own family.
Although that did not mean he would spare anyone who laid hands on anything or anyone he
treasured.
With a wistful expression, Greg didn't say a word. He was well aware of the power of the Chu family.
And he knew that Lawrence was serious and no one could change his mind.
Putting on a grim look on his face, he knitted his brows and turned his gaze away from Greg. "I don't
need you to tell me how to deal with things, Greg. Just mind your own business," he snapped.
Pensively, Mike watched Lawrence's side face. Afraid that the two might end up with a fight, he stood
out and tried to meditate. "Calm down, Lawrence. We did all of this for Violet," he suggested.
Pursing his lips, Lawrence listened to Mike with a dispassionate air. He didn't say another word.
Noting that Lawrence composed himself, Mike turned to look at Greg. "You have already learnt the Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
truth. You'd better not infuriate him. After all, you are a family. You should get on well with each other,"
he admonished.
