Chapter 41: It Was Her?!
Chapter 41: It Was Her?!
Vivian quietly heaved a sigh of relief when she heard him say that. Her face started regaining some
colour.
However, Chow looked rather angry and irritated for being interrupted in the middle of 'business'.
The atmosphere was ruined. Everything felt cold in the office once again.
There was no way for them to continue where they left off earlier anymore. Chow stormed back to his
desk and spoke to Vivian in a gruff voice. "Wait here. We'll go home together after work."
Of course, Vivian dared not disobey him. She could only agree to anything he said. "Okay."
Chow glanced over at Vivian and caught sight of her swollen lips. All of a sudden, he felt that time was
passing just too excruciatingly slowly.
It had been a few days since she hurt her ankle from falling down the stairs.
However, Chow never once appeared again after sending her to the hospital on the day that she got
hurt.
Although Celine was already used to his ignorance, she still couldn't help feeling a little uneasy
because she hadn't seen Chow for such a long time.
She could never let herself be at ease whenever it came to matters concerning Chow.
Even though she became Chow's girlfriend because of that incident, she was still wary of the day when
Chow would dump her and kick her aside like she was nothing.
That was why she always had to watch Chow closely before anything happened. She couldn't let him
kick her away like she was trash.
Celine took a deep breath and walked into the lift from the underground parking lot. She then hit the
button for the 37th floor.
Because she was Chow's girlfriend, she could freely walk in and out of his office building and take the
lift straight to the 37th floor whenever she wished. It was just that every time she did, she would still
have to wait for Ethan to announce her arrival to Chow before she could go in to see him.
She really hated that feeling it gave her.
It made her feel insignificant.
Why was it that his assistant could get closer to Chow than she, his girlfriend, could?
The lift door slid open with a soft ding. Celine stepped out and made her way to Chow's office. She was
surprised to find Ethan's office door wide open, with the assistant nowhere in sight.
Why wasn't Ethan in his office? Did that mean that Chow wasn't here either?
Celine walked into the empty office with an uneasy look on her face. However, the nearer she got to
Chow's office door, the louder she heard the familiar rustling sound of clothes brushing against each
other.
Chow's office door hadn't been properly shut. The sounds coming from the door were loud and clear.
It was also precisely this familiar rustling sound that made her heart hammer harder against her chest.
The sounds were obviously the soft pants and gasps one would make when being intimate with
someone else.
Did he really bring a woman into his office?
Celine tightly clenched her fists and slowly walked to the door. She peeked inside through the crack of
the door.
True enough, Celine saw Chow holding a girl in his arms as he kissed her passionately. His back was
to Celine, so she couldn't quite see who the girl was. The way Chow held the girl so preciously in his
arms made Celine's heart drop to her stomach.
Chow had never been this gentle with her whenever they were intimate.
Celine felt her blood boiling. She exhaled softly in anger and stared at the two figures in the room,
determined to find out who this girl was.
As the duo continued kissing in each other's arms, they started turning around subconsciously —
allowing for Celine to catch a glimpse of the girl in Chow's arms.
It was her?!
Celine staggered as her knees went weak, accidentally pushing against the door with a sudden creak.
The creaking sound startled both the kissing duo and also Celine.
"Who's that? Is that you, Assistant Ethan?" Chow's voice floated out immediately.
In the meantime, Celine quickly turned on her heels and fled out of the door.
It was fortunate that she had been wearing flats that day. Otherwise, the sound of her usual high heels
clicking would have given her away at once.
She didn't stop until she reached the lifts. She jabbed at the descend button repeatedly until the doors
finally slid open for her.
It was only after Celine entered the lift with her hands on her heart that she started processing what
she'd seen just now. She frowned. "It was Vivian... I never thought that Vivian was such a b*tch!"
Even though she'd only just caught sight of half her face, she was very certain that it was Vivian she
had seen in Chow's arms.
Celine clenched her fists tightly, her eyes flashing in anger.
She had always felt that there was something fishy about the relationship between Chow and Vivian,
but she naively thought that it was just because Chow said he hated her with all his might.
However, she never thought that Chow would 'hate' Vivian like this.
That b*tch was just like her mother, stealing other people's men from right under their eyes!
The anger in her eyes could no longer be concealed. "Vivian, did you really think that you could
compare to me?" Celine said in a dangerously low voice.
No matter what, she would not let Chow slip away from her fingers.
As for Vivian, she was going to chase her out of Chow's life eventually.
She was going to show them what she was made of!
Because Chow had given her an order, Vivian obediently sat in a corner as she waited for Chow to get
off work despite having nothing else to do at the moment.
However, because Chow was sitting in front of her, she still felt that time passed rather quickly.
Moreover, this was the first time she was watching him work with such a serious expression on his face
in the office. Vivian felt the sweetness bubbling in her heart.
She knew that she was a lost cause, but that still didn't stop her from fantasising about being with him.

Vivian had always wondered how it felt like to go to work with Chow. However, now that she was really
walking next to him, she suddenly felt like a fish out of water and slowed down in her steps, opting to
trail behind Chow instead.
In the end, it was Chow who got impatient and turned around to grab her hand, pulling her forward until
she fell into step next to him.
They didn't talk much, but Vivian had a feeling that they were getting along better and better.
In fact, it felt like she was getting closer to him even more than they did that night.
This kind of subtle change made her feel like her heart was going to explode. Nonetheless, she kept
quiet about it.
She was afraid of saying something wrong and ruining the amicable atmosphere between them once
again.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Vivian put in a lot of effort to force herself not to stare at the man beside
her. On the other hand, Chow kept glancing at her every few seconds.
"Make dinner for me tonight," he said matter-of-factly.
"Okay," Vivian replied with a smile.
It was a good thing for her as long as she was needed by him.
Seeing the excited look on Vivian's face, Chow couldn't help letting out a soft smile. However, in the
next second, the car suddenly rolled to a stop by the roadside.
The car had broken down.
Vivian looked around curiously. "Why did the car stop suddenly?"
Chow cursed in a low voice and got out of the car. He opened the car bonnet and fiddled around before
making a phone call. Then, he went back to his door. "The car's broken down. I've already called the
insurance company to handle it. Come out first."
Vivian immediately nodded and unbuckled her seatbelt. "How did it suddenly break down like that? Is it
serious?"
Chow shook his head. "It's fine, there's just something wrong with the battery. We'll just need to take a
taxi back home."
Vivian nodded obediently and waited with him by the side of the road.
However, Chow wasn't used to waiting around with nothing to do.
He had a look around his surroundings and noticed a restaurant not too far off. "There's a restaurant
over there. Let's just eat out tonight," he said.
Vivian's eyes lit up as she also looked in the direction of the restaurant.
There was nothing exciting about eating out, but she hadn't had dinner with Chow in a restaurant
before.
It felt just like a little date to her. She'd always dreamed of being able to go out on a date with Chow
and never thought that it would actually come true today.
"Is it really okay?" Vivian asked hopefully, nervously holding her hands together.
Chow wasn't a person who would overthink something as simple as eating out for dinner. "It's just a
meal," he said with a soft frown. "Why wouldn't it be okay?"
With that, he held Vivian's significantly smaller hand in his and guided her as they crossed the road to
head towards the restaurant.
The place wasn't located in a prime area, so there were a lot fewer cars and people out and about. The
surroundings were rather peaceful and quiet as well.
Since it was so quiet, Vivian could almost hear the sound of her heart thumping loudly against her
ribcage as Chow held her hand in his.
Ba-thump! Ba-thump!
She thought she could burst with joy as she heard the sounds of their footsteps matching up perfectly
with each other.
In the past, she never thought that Chow would hold her hand so gently, guide her across the road, and
eat out with her like this.
If all this was just a dream, then she never wanted to wake up for the rest of her life.
Vivian's lips slowly spread into a soft smile. The dimples in her cheeks seemed even more charming
under the last rays of the setting sun. She looked radiant.
After crossing the road, they finally reached the entrance of the restaurant.
Just as Chow pushed the door open, they both heard a faint 'pop' sound. All of a sudden, colourful
ribbons and confetti started raining on them out of nowhere.
Vivian hadn't even noticed what was going on and had a huge fright. She jumped into Chow's arms out
of reflex.
Chow hugged her closely in his arms. Just then, the two waiters by their sides started exclaiming
excitedly. "Congratulations, you're the tenth couple to dine in at our restaurant! You get to enjoy our
special Romantic Dinner for Two on the house tonight!"
