Independence 96
Chapter 0096
The next morning, Hansel waited in the VIP lounge of the airport while casually scrolling through his social media. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
There was still half an hour until boarding time. Time seemed to pass too slowly for him. He just hoped his flight would depart as soon as possible.
Suddenly, he stopped scrolling and sat upright. Sam posted something yesterday. It was a photo of the beach, with the blue sea and sky amid the glorious sunset.
His caption wrote, “Nice weather here in Marvedis, but it matters more to me that I’ll get to meet the person I’ve been wanting to see.”
Someone commented, “Are you on a vacation in search of someone to hook up with, Sam?”
Sam replied, “That’s too general. I’m here with a specific target in mind.”
Another commented, “Sounds like someone’s found a new romance.”
Sam replied to that comment with the emoji with a toothy smile.
As Hansel scrolled further down, he started to glower even more.
He and Sam had too many mutual friends. There were still more comments even though he’d scrolled for so long. They were all guessing if Sam was in a relationship.
That bastard. He got someone to mislead Hansel while he flew to Marvedis to look for Miranda.
Just then, the announcement reminded those heading for Marvedis to board the plane. Hansel pocketed his phone, picked up his coat, and left the lounge.
Unexpectedly, Ingrid was about to enter the lounge just as he opened the door. As their gazes met, Ingrid, who was about to open the door, hugged him instead.
When she threw herself at him, Hansel was frozen to the spot.
“You’re so nice, dear. I didn’t think much of it when I said I’ve never been to Marvedis, but I didn’t expect you to take it seriously.”
Standing upright, she waved the boarding pass in her phone at him. “I heard the special overwater villas offer direct access to the ocean. The splashing of the waves will lull us to sleep, and we can see the sunrise the moment we wake up. There are also pretty sandbanks-”
Hansel felt a throb in his temple. His reply was perfunctory. “I need the restroom.”
Then, he strode off. In a corner, he called Joe with a grim look.
“Mr. Johnson?” Wasn’t Hansel supposed to already be on the plane by now?
“Joe, you can tell me straight up if you aren’t keen on keeping your job!”
Joe sounded flustered as he asked, “Mr. Johnson, what makes you say that?”
“If I remember correctly, I asked you to book a one–way ticket for me yesterday. Why did you act on your own accord and book two? And you even gave the other ticket to Ingrid! You really need to have your ears checked if they aren’t working properly.”
Joe immediately realized that the newcomer, Annie, messed up.
However, he didn’t excuse himself. Instead, he admitted his mistake. “I’m sorry, Mr. Johnson. My
instructions were unclear, and I didn’t seek to clarify if they were carried out properly.”
Hansel’s tone softened. “I hope there won’t be a next time.”
“Dear, what took you so long? They’re almost closing the gates.” When Ingrid saw him emerging from the restroom, she immediately approached him.
“Let’s go,” Hansel replied. Since the deed had been done, he could only play along.
Ingrid was in a very cheerful mood. “I’m looking forward to this so much. This is my first time going abroad…”
When she knew she was going to Marvedis, she intentionally put on some light makeup. She even brought several sets of sexy bikinis in her suitcase.
After the intimate night they accidentally had when Hansel was drunk, he’d never touched her since. Regardless of the suggestive hints she cast at him, he ignored her wholly.
Going to Marvedis might be a good opportunity…
When the plane touched down, they took the seaplane to the island.
Ingrid had only ever seen Marvedis through photos and videos. Being her first time there, she couldn’t refrain from snapping away on her phone.
Suddenly, she paused. She’d never taken a photo with Hansel.
Her roommates all knew she was coming to Marvedis. As a mischievous glint crossed her eyes, she promptly aimed her phone camera at herself and Hansel.
