Chapter 164 Check Over His Assets
Chapter 164 Check Over His Assets
But one other thing suddenly came upon him. Under the cover of Domom SPA, the Wilson family had
rolled out woman trafficking secretly, by which the Wilson family gained their great wealth. At that
moment, Baron highly doubted that the McGill family was also involved.
Baron had spent a lot of time looking into the woman trafficking in the Domom SPA, but there was no
clue at all. All these indicated that the Domom SPA got very powerful people behind it. But the Wilson
family didn’t have that power yet.
If the McGill family was also involved, the whole thing made more sense. But that was just a guess, so
Baron didn’t say it.
“Find Sarah first, Charles!” Baron ordered. Charles nodded and left the hall.
Kris had no hint of Baron’s intention, but he was afraid to pry. “Let’s go to the auction room, Mr. Owen?”
he said carefully.
“OK!” Baron said.
They stepped into a lift. “How is your relationship with the Davis family?” Baron asked suddenly.
Kris’ chequered career made him learn to read men’s faces, so he understood Baron’s words
immediately. “Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Owen! I have nothing to do with the Davis family, and I didn’t
know anything about their sordid business. I’m here because of the invitation of the McGill family,”
explained Kris.
“That’s good!” Baron nodded with satisfaction. “I’m warning you, Kris! If your Brown family is involved in Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
such sordid business, I will end your family once and for all,” said Baron gravely.
Kris was frightened by his words. “Rest assured, Mr. Owen! The Brown family will never do sordid
business, I promise!”
And soon they arrived the auction room. The room was very spacious and was crowded at the
moment. The guests were all the greatest names in Jako.
And there were well-trained guards around them. The guards kept their eyes peeled for all sorts of
dangers.
“Baron!” a cheerful voice called out behind Baron.
Baron turned, and saw Susan, who was very well dressed, walking towards him.
“Good evening, Mr. Brown.” Susan said to Kris politely. She was really in shock when she discovered
that Kris followed obediently behind Baron.
Kris made a smile on his face and said, “Is your father here yet, Susan?”
“No. Some other business held him back, so he asked me to come in his place,” Susan said.
Not far from them, Paris looked furious and sulky. His eyes fixed dead at Susan.
“Why did the bastard come in?” Kenny asked, following Paris’ eyes.
“Son of a bitch! She brought him in! She did it!” said Paris bitterly, still looking at Susan.
“You mean Susan? Your fiancée Susan?” said Bryan in mild surprise.
Paris nodded and his anger had risen up in his throat. “A disgusting slut! She is my fiancée, but look at
her, she is hooking up with a married man!”
“Paris, don’t be angry! I’ll teach him a lesson!” Bryan said.
“Wait! Wait!” Paris held him back. “He’s tough. Even my bodyguards were no match for him!”
“Really?” Kenny opened his mouth in surprise. It was unbelievable because he knew Paris’ bodyguards
were all well-trained.
Kenny had no purpose in challenging a tough man. “OK, I get it. I plan to defeat this jerk without the
use of force.”
But Bryan scarcely seemed to hear Paris and walked toward Baron, who was sitting quietly.
When he got in front of Baron, he crossed his arms and said arrogantly, “Hey, man! Why are you here?
A good for nothing bum! You sneaked in, didn’t you?”
Bryan said so loudly that everyone turned to look at them. After they examined Baron closely, they
knew at once what Bryan meant.
Everyone in present wore pricey formal clothes on such an important occasion, except Baron. He
dressed casually.
Looking at Bryan, Susan’s face darkened with anger. “Enough of this nonsense, Bryan! He is my friend.
Why are you picking on me?” Susan said angrily.
Bryan surveyed Susan with a smile and said, “I really don’t want you to be upset with me, you pretty
thing. But I think we need to know what kind of guy he is!”
Bryan looked at Baron quickly, and then turned to face Susan. “Everybody knows that there is a
condition to attend tonight’s auction, that is, he must have at least one hundred million dollars. Susan,
your friend is just a son-in-law of the Perry family! The family is in dire straits now! Do you think he
meet the condition?
Bryan made an excellent point and the others all nodded.
But Baron was not angry. He looked at Bryan and said calmly, “So, you don’t think I have one hundred
million dollars, do you? How can you be so sure of yourself?”
“Of course you don’t have so much money, as you very well know!” Bryan taunted.
And then immediately, he turned toward the guests and said loudly, “For the sake of our safety, we
should check over his assets.”
