Chapter 45 The Owen Clan of Kato
Chapter 45 The Owen Clan of Kato
The moment Phillip was sent flying, he’d already lost consciousness.
Dead silence hung over the meeting room. Henry stared dully for a while, then seethed, “Baron!”
Tracy was also taken aback, rushing to smooth things over. “Granddad, don’t blame Baron for this. He
didn’t come with ill intentions today...”
“Shut up!”
Henry’s fury erupted. “He went this far against Phillip, and you’re still saying he didn’t come with ill
intentions?
“Don’t think that just because you’re in charge of the collaboration between Perry and Samho that I’m
looking at you any differently. The Samho Group values the Perry Clan because of our potential. That’s
the reason we’re collaborating. Even without you, some other representative will come for that contract.
“I’m telling you right now, you’re nothing in my eyes. If you hadn’t been of some use to the clan, I would
have banished your family a long time ago.
“Get out! Get out this instant! Never set foot on Perry property ever again!”
Henry’s words stabbed deep into Tracy’s heart, twisting like a knife.
She bowed her head, tears falling like raindrops, ceaselessly onto the floor.
Zoey joined in with her own hollering. “Do you think a few drops of tears are enough to win Granddad’s
sympathy? Granddad told you to get out, so enough with this charade! Take your trash husband with
you and leave!”
Wayne studied the scene with some interest. Sitting in the corner, he didn’t say a word, but his bright
eyes lingered on Tracy, which only served to further irritate Zoey.
Baron’s expression didn’t change as he surveyed everything with his usual cold gaze, but he did feel
quite bothered with how unfair they were being to Tracy.
If Tracy hadn’t specifically asked him to let them off, the Perry Clan would have been destroyed long
ago.
“Tracy, everything you’ve done for the clan has already paid them back tenfold for raising you. If they’re
that insistent on booting you out, then let’s leave them to their own devices!” Baron finally spoke.
Tracy’s eyes filled with sorrow, and she lowered her head as she rubbed away her tears. When she
lifted it again, only her red eyes were left.
She locked eyes with Henry. “Granddad, have you never once thought of me as your granddaughter?”
Henry sneered. “Don’t be stupid. Your grandmother brought your father with him before we got married.
You didn’t seriously believe I thought of you as my own flesh and blood?”
Tracy’s sorrow turned to despair, and she shook her head bitterly. “I understand now!”
With that, she turned and left the room.
Baron’s glare swept down on Henry, and his own sneer tugged at the corner of his mouth. “One day,
you’ll beg to have her back.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
He left that Parthian shot and followed Tracy out the door.
“The gall! The sheer gall!” Henry shook with fury at Baron’s words.
At that moment, a figure darted into the meeting room and said hastily, “Chairman! Mr. Scott is here!”
“Scott? Which Scott?” Henry was caught off guard.
“The Scott Clan of Cona, sir. The clan who owns the Scorpion Club? They’re here in person, but
they’ve got a cripple with them on a stretcher. Seems they’re looking for trouble,” the messenger
reported worriedly.
“What?” Henry gasped, shocked, jogging out to look.
Zoey shot a glance at Wayne. “Mr. O’Wen, how about we go and check it out too?”
“Sure!” Wayne said casually.
Henry took one stop outside the room and was struck dumb at the scene.
“Mr. Owen, on behalf of the Scott Clan, I’m bringing this scum with me here to apologize!” Edric’s head
was bowed, and his voice rang loud and clear, deep and solemn.
The scene burrowed insidiously into Henry’s chest.
Zoey and Wayne made their way to Henry’s side as well. Zoey wore a dazed expression herself, and
even Wayne’s eyes began to narrow.
Behind Edric, several men were carrying a stretcher, on which Waldo was lying.
The Scott Clan, being a first-class family, undoubtedly had power. And Edric was the favored son of
that clan, touted in public as being the successor to the position of head of the clan.
And now he was apologizing to Baron in person.
All eyes fell on Baron. Was this really the garbage son-in-law who got exiled from the family?
The first seeds of doubt planted themselves in Henry’s mind. Zoey, too, stared at Baron with wide eyes.
“Mr. Owen, I know I’ve done wrong. Please, let the Scott Clan off. From now on, we’ll do as you say.”
Even on the stretcher, Waldo was pleading for forgiveness himself.
Baron’s cold gaze swept across the Scott brothers. He had to admit that their clan had a nasty streak,
to go so far as to cripple Waldo’s legs.
“Are you sure you have the right person? This is just some trash we banished from the clan!”
Zoey said, shocked, and then went on to point at Wayne. “This is Mr. O’Wen!”
At that, Edric slapped her across the face. “Where’d this bitch come from? Mr. Owen isn’t someone you
can just insult like this! Shut the hell up if you don’t know shit! Another word of nonsense, and I’ll slap
that mouth of yours clean off.
“Mr. Owen, we’re here with the utmost sincerity. See, we already took this brat’s legs. Our father is just
too frail to apologize in person,” Edric continued.
The only thing was that Baron didn’t buy it. The whole thing looked like a mummer’s farce.
“Baron, let’s just leave it,” Tracy said suddenly.
Baron had intended to completely destroy the Scott Clan, but seeing as Tracy had said so, he gave it
up.
“Since my wife is being lenient with you, I’ll let you all off this time. Next time, I’ll wipe you out!” Baron
warned, his voice icy.
At that, Waldo was overjoyed. He’d lost the use of his legs, but at least he was still alive.
“Thank you Mr. Owen sir! Thank you Mr. Owen sir!” the brothers went on profusely.
“Now get out!” Baron barked, and the Scott men hurried to leave.
“We should leave too.” Baron took Tracy with him and left.
Henry was now shocked beyond comprehension. He never could have imagined that the family he’d
expelled would have ended up with a son-in-law like this.
The Scott Clan was a first class clan of Cona, the likes of which the Perry Clan struggled to become
equals with. And now their heir was here apologizing to Baron in person.
Then Zoey scoffed. “He put on quite the show. Got some nerve, hasn’t he? Lying to the Scott Clan to
their face.”
“What do you mean?” Henry frowned.
Zoey replied, “Granddad, don’t you get it? The Scott Clan got the wrong person. That was Edric
himself, successor to the head of the clan. How could he prostrate himself before some gutter trash?”
“They got the wrong person?”
Henry’s mind had been racing with question after question, and it was only after Zoey’s words that the
rational reason – of mistaken identity – popped into his head.
“Didn’t you hear, Granddad? Edric was apologizing to Mr. O’Wen. It’s this Mr. O’Wen right here.”
Zoey giggled, and then turned to Wayne as if inviting him to take credit. “Am I right, Mr. O’Wen?”
Although Wayne had no inkling of the truth, now that Zoey was asking him to gloat, he wasn’t about to
let the opportunity pass him by. He feigned a humble smile. “I did have a bit of a spat with the Scott
family a few days back, but I didn’t think they’d follow me to the Perry Clan and apologize in person.”
“See, I knew it!”
Zoey exclaimed happily. “It’s a pity they mistook that trash for you. Not to worry! The moment the Scott
Clan realizes it, they won’t let Baron off that easily.”
“You really are something, Mr. O’Wen! I can’t believe you could get that Scott Clan to come personally
to our doors and apologize!” With everything cleared up, Henry laughed it off.
His mind was already churning. Despite being from a family from outside Cona, he had enough clout to
get the Scott Clan to prostrate themselves. If Zoey became a part of that family, wouldn’t it be the
simplest thing for the Perry Clan to make it to the top?
As he thought of that, he felt more and more pleased the more he looked at Wayne, wishing he could
marry Zoey off to him right away.
“Mr. Perry, if there’s nothing else you need, I’ll be off,” Wayne spoke up suddenly.
Henry hurried to say, “Zoey, no need to come in to the office these few days. Just take care of Mr.
O’Wen on your end!”
“Yes, Granddad!” Zoey leapt at the chance.
Wayne was sneering on the inside, but acted as if he was thrilled, and left alongside Zoey.
“Mr. O’Wen, you’re still so young – I'm sure you’re not married yet, are you?” Zoey asked while driving.
Wayne, of course, knew everything that was going through her head.
“What do you think, Zoey?” Wayne grinned lasciviously, his gaze changing as he looked at her.
Zoey shuddered, her hands twitching on the wheel.
“Well, seeing as you’re still so cool, Mr. O’Wen, I’d say not yet.” Zoey was blushing far too hard to take
the hint.
Wayne lost even more of his inhibitions.
Zoey was now blushing to the roots of her ears. “Mr.- Mr. O’Wen, sir, where are we headed?”
“Let’s go to my hotel,” Wayne said, eyes gleaming.
Zoey had already been swept off her feet, with want filling her to the brim.
Meanwhile, Baron and Tracy left the Perry Clan and headed straight for the Samho Group.
All along the way, Tracy remained depressed, which tore at Baron’s heartstrings.
“Baron, you can just let me off outside the office doors.” Tracy knew his identity came with unique
issues, and had no wish to expose it.
Baron nodded. “I’ll pick you up after work, and we can go get Lara together.”
“Okay,” Tracy said, and turned to leave.
Watching Tracy’s back recede into the distance, Baron took out his phone and punched in a number.
“Run me a background check. I was just over at the Perry company and came across a man by the
name of O’Wen. He’s in his thirties.”
It wasn’t that he was being overly cautious, but this man had a rather unpleasant way of looking at
Tracy, and Baron had no wish to land her in any more trouble.
Soon, his phone rang. Picking up, Camel’s voice reported, “His name is Wayne O’Wen, of the City of
Kato. The O’Wen Clan barely counts as first class in Kato. The clan’s most notable property is the
Reflix Group. The Louis we met the other day is his sister by blood.”
Baron’s eyes narrowed. “In that case – I don’t want any of the O’Wen Clan’s business appearing in
Cona.”
