Jojo and Coco's Unexpected Love

Chapter 782 Don’t Take Your Good Fortune for Granted

Chapter 782 Don’t Take Your Good Fortune for Granted

"Grandfather, you should've told me you were coming." Chloe was not surprised. Given the note she had left for him this morning, his coming and questioning her was well within her expectations.

Desmond remained composed. "Well, tell me then."

Chloe took a seat. "What do you think of Noah?"

"In what respect?"

"In terms of character."

Desmond gazed at her, stating earnestly, "If Noah’s character was problematic, I would not have given him full control of Exotic Star. Coco, you know that I've always treated him like my own grandson, so you don't have to worry about these things."

"But people change."

"Speak directly. You don't need to beat around the bush with me."

"I've come to realize that I don’t understand Noah. Despite knowing him for so long, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. He appears gentle, polite, and impeccably perfect. Doesn't he have any flaws?"

Desmond chuckled lightly, suddenly understanding something. "Of course, everyone has flaws, but we tend to present the best versions of ourselves to those we love."

Chloe shook her head, realizing her words were not getting through to him. Noah was his ward, and he probably had more of a blind spot for Noah than for her. And without evidence, he would not believe anything she said. She decided to express her concerns directly.

"Grandfather, can we please postpone the wedding for a while?"

"No. The invitations have already been sent out. Coco, please try to understand." Desmond's face turned stern. "Don’t take your good fortune for granted. I’ve witnessed how well Noah treats you." Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

In Desmond's eyes, Noah's history was much simpler than Joseph's. At least he did not have a woman like Xavia hanging around him. Women sought stability when they married, and Noah had never been a playboy.

Feeling helpless, Chloe expressed, "Please just give me some time. Don’t you remember that my mother left home because she didn't like you controlling her life? I hear your suggestion, but at the same time, I'm an adult and have my own opinions."

When she brought up her mother, Desmond's expression fell slightly and his hand holding onto the teapot trembled slightly.

Chloe did not really want to upset him, so she quickly came up with an excuse. She took his arms and coaxed, "I've been feeling a bit anxious about the wedding lately, and I don't really like the wedding dress I picked. I want to custom-make a new one, so can we please postpone the wedding by two weeks? Grandfather, please try to understand me..."

Desmond agreed, “Fine, but only two, and no changing your mind again. Also, I want to announce your identity before the wedding."

She had grown used to calling him “grandfather.” But he, being her maternal grandfather, had not formally settled into the role yet.

"All right, as you wish," Chloe replied, thinking that she should, in fact, reveal her identity soon. Most of Exotic Star's assets were currently under Noah's name. Once her identity was announced, it would naturally fall under her management.

As soon as Desmond left, Noah arrived. He jiggled his car keys as he beamed, showing off his dimples. "I figured the most hard-working employee would get to the office early. Come on, you're getting the day off. Let’s go try on wedding dresses."

"There's no need. I've chosen a style I saw online and have contacted the designer. The dress is currently being made. It’ll take about two weeks." Chloe employed her earlier tactic and maintained her nonchalant expression. "I've already discussed it with Grandfather."

Noah was not Desmond, and he saw right through her excuse. A wounded look flashed across his eyes as he asked, "Why didn't you discuss it with me first?"

"I've been really busy lately and forgot to mention it."

"What's really going on with you?"

"Nothing. Now, I have to hold a meeting with the employees. You should go about your business."

With that, Chloe disappeared with her documents, leaving Noah alone. As his gaze turned somber, he decided to retrieve the route history of Chloe's car.
