Chapter 795 Are They Reconciling?
Joseph narrowed his eyes as he noticed her strange behavior. He walked up to her and asked, "What's the matter?"
Looking a little awkward, Chloe said, "Can you get Ms. Frieda for me?"
"Are you not feeling well?" he asked, his voice thick with concern. When he saw her placing her arm over her stomach, he continued, "Are you having a stomach ache? I'll take you to the hospital."
"No, no. Just get Ms. Frieda for me," Chloe urged impatiently.
"I can't. I need to know what's going on with you," Joseph insisted. Even though his face remained cold and emotionless, his heart clenched with worry.
"Why you... Fine, fine. I'll tell you," Chloe blurted out in frustration, glaring at him. Why could this stupid guy not pick up on her cues?
Before Joseph could respond, pain shot through her lower abdomen. Chloe's face turned pale and she bit her lip. The first day was always painful, and she needed painkillers to ease it.
Joseph was stunned. Without waiting for Chloe to say anything, he draped his coat over her waist and picked her up in his arms.
"What are you doing?" Even though Chloe resisted such an intimate gesture, she refrained from moving. Though she was tall, she appeared delicate and small in his arms.
"I'm taking you to the car. You can't appear before your employees like this," Joseph replied calmly.
Chloe subconsciously reached behind, "Is my skirt…"
There was nothing on her skirt. But to avoid potential staining from walking, Joseph nodded knowingly and said, "Yes, quite a large spot."
Chloe froze. She obediently waited for Joseph to contact Frieda and bring her a sanitary pad.
The car's interior was pleasantly warm. Sitting in the driver's seat, Lucas excitedly observed the close interaction between the pair as they entered the car. ‘Are they about to reconcile? This is so sudden though…' he thought.
Joseph threw a glance at Lucas. When he was about to speak, Lucas said, "You want me to get out of the car, right, Mr. Joseph?" Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Joseph raised his eyebrows and replied, "Yeah."
"I understand. I'll get out now. You take your time."
As he spoke, Lucas unbuckled his seatbelt and smiled at them suggestively before getting out of the car. Chloe was speechless. After he got out, Joseph followed suit not long after. Lucas' heart raced. 'Oh no, did they have a fight again? Was it a false alarm? Dear god, please help them!'
In the years since Chloe left Aesper, Joseph had a habit of using work to numb himself, and as his assistant, Lucas had to follow him around working.
Fortunately, Joseph quickly returned with a bag in his hand. Crouching in the roadside bushes, Lucas let out a silent sigh of relief. It seemed there was hope.

"Sanitary pads and some chamomile tea," Joseph said as he handed the items to Chloe. "Bought them from a nearby mall. I'm not sure if they're suitable, but you don't have any other choices right now."
Looking at the item before her embarrassingly, Chloe asked, "Did you buy these yourself?" She thought he might find it embarrassing to buy pads.
"Yes," Joseph replied matter-of-factly.
"I..." Chloe hesitated for a moment, then clenched her teeth and said, "I've dirtied your car. How much is the cleaning fee? I'll pay for it."
Joseph was a clean freak, and she knew that he detested anything getting on his car seats. She was certain that even though he did not voice it out, he must feel repulsed on the inside. In the past, she might only be able to offer to wash his car, but now, she had the means to compensate him generously. In any case, just for today, she owed him a great deal.
"Do you think you're rich?" Joseph chuckled sarcastically. At the same time, he placed his hand on her abdomen and massaged it gently.
