Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 656: For Rebirth

Tina nodded as well, "I'm also puzzled. Why did Five Poisons tell Joshua about my mom being kidnapped? Could there have been something else mentioned?" "Alright, I'll arrange it now," Jared responded and immediately dialed Nathan.

Soon after, Nathan had organized for Natalie to visit Joshua.

"Mr. Farrell, there's another thing-Grace is back."

Jared frowned, "She's back already?"

"Yes, the higher-ups said the footage of Grace doesn't prove anything significant; it just shows her work errors. After being disciplined, she was allowed to return." Hearing this, Jared almost crushed his phone in anger.

Hundreds were injured, Jason and Elsa have yet to awaken, and Hayden and Courtney still can't have their stitches removed to walk normally.

Just a work error?

Through the phone, Nathan could feel Jared's rage and continued, "But Linden has already stripped Grace of her powers. She shouldn't be able to cause any more trouble, or rather, she no longer has the ability." Jared took a moment, "Alright, I understand."

Natalie went alone to the secret prison, while Tina and Jared stayed at the YQ research lab.

Tina had some new ideas she wanted to try.

Inside the prison, the darkness was as oppressive as ever.

Through the monitors, Natalie saw Jasper sealing test papers, while Joshua lay curled in pain on the floor.

After a thorough check, Natalie walked in.

"Boss, be careful, I'll wait outside for you," Nathan said, guarding the door.

Though unlikely anything would happen, Nathan was still not at ease.

The X Bureau was not a place that inspired confidence these days.

Natalie nodded and proceeded inside.

Joshua had by now regained some strength, his clothes soaked with sweat, sitting blankly on the floor.

Seeing Natalie enter, Joshua first froze, then surprisingly, laughed.

Natalie narrowed her eyes, "It's been a while."

Joshua's laughter stopped, "We've never met, have we? I've met your daughter many times though; she used to call me Uncle Joshua. I wonder what she calls me now."

"A criminal," Natalie said, sitting down with a faint smile on her face.

Joshua took a breath, "You're here to ask about my master, aren't you? I heard when he abducted you back in the day, a lot of interesting stories happened. Do you remember any?" Natalie spoke coolly, her voice as chilled as water, "I don't remember, can you tell me about it?"

Joshua stood up and walked to the railing, examining Natalie, his eyes unreadable. "Girls change a lot by eighteen; I'm curious to see what Tina will be like at your age." Natalie suddenly stood up, feeling an odd sensation inside but unable to pursue it.

She always felt that sentence was very familiar, yet she couldn't recall it.

Joshua ignored Natalie's astonishment and lay back down on his bed.

"Are you close with Angela? How is your relationship? When can I meet her? Isn't she curious about me at all? I am, after all, the only one in this world who has dealt with her father."

Gradually regaining her composure, Natalie sat back down, "Perhaps, you should be the second."

Joshua's swinging leg paused, then resumed normally, "What about that janitor from college? He's not dead yet?"

Natalie nodded, "Of course, he's alive and well, thanks to your master, isn't he?"

After hearing this, Joshua snorted coldly, "That's true, he should indeed live well, live well for my master, observe every day's changes in this world, record them diligently, and then burn the records for him." Natalie glanced at him indifferently and slowly said, "The dead in hell do not receive the sentiments of the living."

Joshua was silent for a few seconds before slowly sitting up against the headboard, his sweat stains almost gone.

"You're right, what's the point of sentiments if you're in hell?"

Natalie, no longer interested in engaging in such pointless conversations with Joshua, directly asked, "Why did Five Poisons save that cleaner?"

Joshua hummed thoughtfully for a moment.

After a brief pause, he parted his thin lips, "Perhaps, it was for rebirth."

Natalie frowned, "Rebirth!"

"Yes, haven't you read those types of novels? The protagonist dies tragically, unwilling to let go, with many dreams unfulfilled, so he makes a deal with God, gets reborn with a system, and begins a thrilling new life!" Natalie knew Joshua was teasing her, but for some reason, she still felt there was more to his words.

Just then, the prison gates suddenly opened, accompanied by the sounds of Nathan arguing with someone.

"I told you there's a visitor here, will you ever stop?"

Nathan growled deeply, his anger barely contained.

A voice filled with defiance and authority coldly retorted, "I'm here to transfer a high-risk prisoner, this is a secret facility, and you let some questionable people in? Nathan, be careful, or I'll file a complaint against you!" Hearing this, Nathan's eyes narrowed, a chill emanating from him as he stepped forward, approaching Grace. Suddenly, he grabbed Grace by the throat, his voice icy, "Want to die? I'll grant you that right now!" He was truly enraged!

Last mission could have avoided casualties among the X Bureau agents, but Grace had used her authority to pressure them, and the mission was critical, so he, along with Linden, agreed to include Grace.

His intention was to keep Grace under his watchful eye, which he deemed safer than leaving her where he couldn't see and potentially cause harm.

Yet, how could he have anticipated that under his very watch, she would open the public channel, leading to heavy casualties among his team? These days, he had been blaming himself.

If he had been assertive enough, this wouldn't have happened-it was Grace's fault, but he had to accept his part in it.

Thus, to avoid jeopardizing Mr. Farrell and Tina's plans, he restrained himself from confronting Grace.

But now, he could tolerate no more!

Even a hundred deaths of Grace could not bring back his teammates.

Grace, with her face turning red and nearly out of breath, grabbed Nathan's hand, desperately struggling, "Let, let go of me! If you kill me, the higher-ups won't let you off, you'll be facing a military tribunal!" Nathan's grip tightened as he coldly replied, "Am I supposed to be afraid?"

At that moment, Natalie walked out and saw a pudgy face being choked by Nathan, looking even uglier.

Natalie glanced over and said, "Nathan!"

Hearing her voice, Nathan's angry expression softened somewhat, and he released Grace, respectfully saying to Natalie, "Boss, are you done?"

Natalie responded, "Yes, who is she?"

Nathan lowered his eyelids, disdainfully saying, "Grace."
