Chapter 677: Philip's Mishap
Tina retorted sarcastically, "May I ask, Chief Linden, what national property was damaged when the bionic robot went berserk? Who was injured? Or was there any life-threatening situation?"
Linden coughed, "There was no damage to national property, no one was injured, and there was no threat to life, but..."
"The only one injured was our Uncle, who is still bleeding from his nose! All because he saved that runaway motorcycle. You don't even commend him, yet you want to punish?"
Listening to Tina's sophistry, Linden sighed heavily, "That was his duty, a remedy for a mishap caused by your company!"
Tina nodded approvingly, "We've made amends, quite successfully at that, and even paid for repairs to roads, hospitals, schools, and so forth, all out of our own pockets. We've made up for it, haven't we? Chief Linden?" Linden, at a loss for words, conceded.
It seemed to make sense!
Linden took a sip of water, "Alright, you may go."
Tina grabbed a few more pieces of candy from the dish, "Goodbye, Uncle Linden!"
Linden chuckled, "Wait, when will your mother wake up?"
"That's uncertain, but once she does, I'll let her know you were asking about her."
Tina waved as she walked out of the chief's office.
Linden shook his head helplessly as Harry Jackson called again.
Linden said, "Chief, the guy is still bleeding, and it's costing us money. What more do you want? His face is insured, worth more than Ember Saffron. If we really get down to it, we can't afford this!"
Harry Jackson responded, "Alright, choose whoever you want for the chief!"
Exiting the X Bureau, Tina left as Ethan, Janson, and Damian continued their routine questioning.
It would take a while.
Tina had some brothers from the Mountain Veil Order wait outside to pick them up once they were done.
Then, she drove to the hospital.
In the hospital, Jared had just had his medication applied.
Hayden leaned in, "Did your nose really get smashed by kicking that motorcycle?"
Jared gave him a sideways glance, "You have a problem with that?"
Hayden waved his hands, "No, no, just, haha."
My god, that was Jared. He had spent days trapped in a mine without a scratch, and now a motorcycle disfigures him like this?
Jared, uninterested in continuing the conversation, looked in the mirror at the nose strip he was wearing and sighed softly.
How could Tina's head be so hard?
Just then, Tina burst through the door, carrying a luxurious feast for the patients, "Uncle, time to eat."
Hearing Tina's voice, Jared immediately tore off his nose strip.
Whether he bled or not didn't matter; maintaining his image in front of his wife was paramount!

Hayden burst into laughter.
Since when did Jared become so vain?
He had to spread this story throughout the X Bureau. He might not remain the deputy chief, but the tale must live on!
However... he seemed to have forgotten something important.
Suddenly, he stood up and shouted, "You two are so sneaky! Getting married without a word, disappearing without a trace. Do you know how many people are going crazy because of you two?"
He had been trying to call Jared and Tina since the morning without success, then the incident with the bionic robot occurred, and he had completely forgotten about it.
Those heartless two, after getting their marriage certificate, frolicked off without a care, leaving the Brookes, Farrell, Reed families, and the brothers from Serenity Ridge frantically searching for them. Jared's phone was bombarded with calls, as was his own. Everyone thought he knew where Jared and Tina were. But damn, he was truly innocent!
The calmest of all was Nathan. Upon hearing that Jared and Tina had gotten the certificate, he looked unsurprised and made a highly irritating comment: "If it were me, I would have whisked the woman I like off to get the certificate ages ago. Mr. Farrell is too slow."
After this comment, Nathan was thoroughly beaten up by his teammates from the X Bureau!
Meanwhile, Jared and Tina acted as if nothing was wrong. Jared glanced at him lightly, "You're going mad too?"
Hayden replied, "Are those even human words?"
Jared retorted, "Am I not human?"
Hayden was left speechless. Damn! He couldn't afford to mess with someone who cursed even himself.
Tina was sitting in front of Jared, watching him remove a bandage from his nose, frowning slightly, then she took another bandage from her pocket and stuck it on Jared's nose-it still bore a Crayon Shin-chan pattern.
"Your nose is still bleeding, who allowed you to remove the bandage?"
Jared didn't refuse, nor did he see the pattern on the bandage as he accepted a hearty meal from Tina's hands. Unaware his nose now sported Crayon Shin-chan's butt, this image had already been widely shared by Hayden! "How are things at the X Bureau?"
Tina asked, munching on candy on the couch.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
"We now know what that sneaky ghost looks like."
Jared smiled faintly, "They eventually couldn't escape their family."
"My fault, I was careless," Tina shrugged, a dark gleam crossing her delicate face. Jared ruffled her hair, "It's okay, let him gloat for a while."
Tina nodded, "Yeah, I'm curious to see what other cards they have up their sleeve."
Hayden, listening on the side, was completely lost, full of question marks. Tina glanced at him and kicked his leg, "Call Philip, see if he's found the person?"
Hayden hurriedly gobbled up the noodles in his bowl, recalling the task Tina had assigned to Philip, and then dialed Philip's phone. But the phone rang for a long time with no answer.
"That bastard, he's not picking up my calls!" Hayden cursed, "When I see him, I'll skin him alive!" Tina raised an eyebrow, "I'll credit you with bravery if you dare say that to his face." Hayden didn't respond, continuing to redial, but still, no one answered.
"Serena, he's not picking up my calls, you try calling him!" Tina then took out her phone and dialed, but still, no one answered. Both Tina and Hayden's expressions were not good. Tina tried calling again, still showing no answer. Hayden stood up, ignoring the risk to his injured leg, "What's going on? He's not even answering your calls!"
Among their group of brothers, no one dared ignore Master Tam's calls, and no one dared make Tina unable to find them! Their phones were modified by Tina to work even in no-signal areas so they could always be contacted. Only one situation could explain why two calls in a row went unanswered: Philip was in trouble!
