Love At The Wrong Table

Love at the 1980

Santiago shifted his focus to Isabella.

She let out a small sigh and stated, “Jane is gone. Does it really matter who

she loved?”

“Of course, it matters!” two voices chimed in from the adjacent rooms, their

urgency palpable. This was their biggest concern.

Yorick spoke up, “I came back to Chanaea for two reasons. One of them is to

let that guy know that Jane loved me!”

Santiago couldn’t help but laugh loudly. “You killed her, and you think you can

say that? Why would she secretly agree to marry me if she didn’t care about

me? Get real! I’ll take you down to get justice for Jane!”

If Isabella, the ex–Four Beauties of Zovince, hadn’t mediated, this

conversation could have turned into a full–blown fight.

She had intentionally brought them together like this to confront their issues.

After a brief pause, Santiago asked, “So your second reason for returning is to

take out the presidential candidate, right?”

That statement sent chills through anyone who heard it. Chanaea was a

significant global power, and targeting a presidential candidate was

outrageous and could change everything.

Yorick didn’t directly answer. Instead, he stated coolly, “I also want to show

that Chanaea’s martial artists aren’t the best in the world!”

Santiago scoffed, realizing that even the most arrogant person would be

wary of admitting that openly. If word gets out, Chanaea’s military will come

after him before he even has a chance to make a move! Martial Saints are

vital but still human and can be taken down by modern forces.

Isabella chimed in, “With so many martial artists in Chanaea, do you really

think it’ll be easy to beat them all?”

“I’m heading to Zovince to confront all their best martial artists tomorrow.

Once I win, I’ll declare on New Year’s Day at Divine Mountain that Chanaea’s

martial arts are overrated, and all their martial artists are useless!” Yorick

declared, his voice steady and confident.

Isabella raised an eyebrow, surprised but amused. Others might think Yorick

was foolish, but she understood where he came from.

Years ago, he faced rejection from Chanaea’s martial artists because of his

half–Shoiya blood and was mocked for practicing their Kendo and Karate.

That disdain fueled his desire to take down those arrogant martial artists. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

While there might be complex motivations behind his actions that she wasn’t

aware of, she knew Santiago understood him all too well.

Santiago heartily laughed while remarking, “Chanaea’s martial arts might not

be the strongest, and sure, they can be beaten, but their spirit will never die!”

Yorick smirked. “Then I’ll take down Chanaea’s martial arts and its president

before everyone.”

“You’re going to fail,” Santiago retorted, taking another sip of his wine. His

relaxed demeanor was now turning severe.

The air between the two men grew heavy with tension.

Isabella grinned. “I can’t wait for your showdown. However, my performance

is about to start. I’ll warm up today, and on New Year’s Day, I’ll present my

final show at the foot of Divine Mountain in Zovince, featuring the opera

‘Endless Will‘ to settle this 20–year grudge.”

Both men clenched their fists, knowing it was time to resolve their conflicts. At

this age, they could only hope to make a mark on their country one last time.

“Chanaea has had over two decades of peace and prosperity, but maybe it’s

time for the new generation to see the harsh realities of life!” Yorick declared

as he stood up.

“What’s wrong with a time of tranquility and growth? Isn’t the goal to build a

stable life for our families and country? Just that some people can’t leave

things alone,” Santiago countered, rising.

Isabella sighed as she thought, Even though they’re in their thirties, these

guys have already lost their youthful spark. Fame doesn’t last forever; life

moves on quickly. It’s time for us older folks to prepare for our final act.

Meanwhile, Shane and the others outside the wooden house sighed in relief

when they spotted Santiago stepping out.

Hank and Wyatt, who had been keeping watch, quickly ducked behind cover

when Santiago appeared.

“Master, did you get a chance to meet Maestro Moretti? Are you close to this

big name?” Shane asked, bubbling with excitement.

Thanks to Sonia, he had developed a fascination with opera. If Master knows

Maestro Moretti, then that means I do, too! I could boast about that for

months! he thought.

“Let’s go check out the performance.” Santiago waved them off, clearly

uninterested in sharing his story as he moved toward the Magnolia Theater.

The three eagerly followed him into the special VIP box only five meters from

the stage.

Sonia was over the moon, thrilled to see her idol perform up close.

Despite Yuna’s efforts to lead him, Gwain still couldn’t find Maestro Moretti.

Once they left the magnolia garden, he felt utterly disinterested.

He had once been the one everyone focused on, but now it felt like the world

was against him. This sudden change left him frustrated and full of

self–doubt.

Unaware of the blow he had taken, Yuna still had tasks to finish at the

magnolia garden and didn’t leave with him.

“Mr. Gwain, what’s our next move?” Hank and Wyatt asked, confusion evident

on their faces. They thought, We came here to get the Dragon Tome for Mr.

Lannister, but now we have a fake, and the authentic one is committed to

memory by a woman we can’t take with us. How do we tell Mr. Lannister

about this?

Gwain was just as lost, knowing he couldn’t take on Santiago.

Just then, Xander and Owen approached them, having waited outside to

impress the Lannister family. “Hi, Mr. Gwain! I’m the second master of the Quill

family. You look a bit troubled. Did you run into some issues in Eldoria? Can

the Quill family lend a hand?”

Gwain, Hank, and Wyatt shared looks. After getting Gwain’s nod, Hank jumped

in, “Mr. Gwain needs a woman. Whatever it takes, you must get her back.”

Xander and the others were caught off guard. Owen, in particular, secretly

looked down on Gwain. He thought, I heard Mr. Gwain is a charming

gentleman, but now he seems sleazy.

Despite his disdain, Owen quickly switched to a flattering tone and replied,

“Mr. Gwain, leave this to me! We’re all men here; I get it!”

Gwain couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation at Owen’s smugness, wishing

he could draw his sword and put him in his place. Who does he think I am?

Still, he knew he needed the Quill family’s support, so he figured the more

obnoxious Owen was, the better–maybe he could get something done.
