He Abandoned Me Her At The Altar
“You are so shameless Ella. Why are you so determined to marry this terrifying man? Oh I see, the reason why you want to bring shame into my family is simply because you know that no one can marry a shameless and filthy woman like you and this man too is desperate because no lady in her right state of mind can marry him reason why he went as far as publishing his request for a wife on social media. You two are really fit for each other.”
Ella tightened her grip on the helm of her gown as though she was about to kill someone.
“Of course Maya you don’t need to remind us. We all know how she had been sleeping with all types of men and since she knows no one will marry a filthy woman like her, she has no choice than to marry Elion.” She turned to Elion, looked at him with so much disgust before saying mockingly. “I don’t even know why your parents chose to name you Elion as if they were trying to compete with the great Elion Copper.”
There was an outburst of laughter in the hall. Everyone was laughing except for the cold terrifying man and his witness.
When everyone least expected it, Ella suddenly spoke out.
“My Lord, my husband and I are ready for this marriage.”
Elion tilted his head to the direction the voice was coming from and glanced at Ella and didn’t say anything.
“It’s preferable to spend the rest of my life with this man even if I don’t know him, than to continue living with the Madisons.” Ella thought to herself and with a smile, she turned and faced Maya who was sitting beside her parents.
“Maya, you have always called me a sister and I’ve never asked for any favour from you…”
She looked at Elion’s witness before turning back to Maya.
“As you can see, I don’t have a witness. Miss Madison, please do me a favour and be my witness.”
Maya tightened her fist and was about to burst out in anger when her mom motioned her to go and she smiled evilly, stood up and walked towards Ella.
“Ella, I’ve always taken you as my elder sister, and dad and mom had always taken you as their daughter and we all want the best for you. Since you have chosen to marry this man…”
She looked at Elion with so much disdain while emphasising every word.
“Since you have decided to marry this man, we will all support you sis. So I am going to be your witness.”
The entire hall burst into whispers
“She’s so considerate.” A girl in her early 20s cried out.
“I’ve always envied the Madisons. They are so sweet.” Responded one of the onlookers
“The Madisons are indeed saints.” Said a man who was in his late 60s
“If I was Maya, this disgusting girl would sign her marriage both as the bride and a witness.” Said one of Staelle’s friends.
“Just imagine the disgrace she has brought upon The Maddisons.” Said a girl in a red strapless gown.
“As we can see, the couple has their witnesses with them and so, we will get straight to the signing of the marriage.” Said the Lord Mayor as he brought out the certificates and showed where the couple should sign followed by their witnesses.
Without even a glance at his wife, Elion signed and rolled his wheelchair to face the crowd as if he wanted to scare them.
Immediately he faced the crowd, the whole hall fell into exclamations.
“This man looks like the devil himself.” Said the girl in the red gownNôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
“I now believe that Ella has some skeletons in her cupboard. If not, she won’t marry this type of creature.” The man in his late 60s said frankly.
“This man happens to be Old Master Copper; the richest man from the Eastern City. He is the father of Elion Copper and is the only one aside from Elion and Henry that knows what was happening.
“Ella has really wasted her beauty. How can a beautiful girl like her marry this type of creature?” Maya’s friend asked.
As soon as Ella signed, Maya signed and gave Ella a hug. She hugged her as though Ella was some sought of garbage which she couldn’t get close to.
“Ella, I wish you a happy ever after.”
Ella looked at Maya and said nothing. She had no emotions on her face and no one could dictate whether she was happy, sad or angry.
Immediately Elion’s witness signed, he took the certificates and carefully placed them into a sea blue file before he turned, bent and whispered into Elion’s left ear.
Elion didn’t wait for the Lord Mayor to introduce them as the newly wedded couple. He simply held the handles of his wheelchair firmly and rolled himself out of the hall without glancing at Ella.
Elion’s witness was called Henry. He was in his early thirties just like Elion and he happened to be Elion’s personal Assistant but since Elion had kept a low profile since he was born, no one knew him nor his Personal Assistant except for their close relatives.
Henry Followed Elion without saying a word to Ella and she remained at the same spot as she witnessed them walking out of her as though she didn’t exist. They finally reached the door and disappeared from everyone’s sight.
Tears rolled down Ella’s eyes and she looked at the floor in order to avoid the mocking gazes from the crowd.
“Did your terrifying husband abandon you just after signing the marriage?” One of Maya’s friends said aloud, causing others to start questioning Ella.
“How can you marry someone you have never spoken to?” Asked one of Maya’s friends.
“The man himself didn’t even care to greet his then fiance and didn’t even greet his newly bride.” Said the man in his late 60s as he sighed and shook his head in disappointment.
“Ella, you are finally married to the love of your life so as of today, the Madisons don’t have any links with you.” Said Mrs. Madison
“She’s right Ella, we don’t want to see you in the future. So whether your husband is good to you or not, don’t come back to the Madisons.” Said Mr. Madison
Tears continued to flow down Ella’s cheeks and after a series of sobs, she wiped her tears sorrowfully as she wondered to herself
“So where do I go? I can’t go back to the Madisons and my husband has abandoned me here. I don’t even know where he lives.” Ella kept battling with these questions in her mind and suddenly burst out crying and fell to her knees. Just then, someone coughed at the door and everyone turned towards the door.
They looked at Henry who stood still by the door motionless and with no emotions on his face. Everyone was staring at him and he was staring back at them without altering a word and Ella was confused and scared at the same time whether to walk up to Henry.
