Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed

Chapter 394

Chapter 394

As soon as Silver heard the state of the apartment complex, she couldn't help but vent, "Gosh, this block is a dumpster fire! Trash everywhere, it stinks to high heaven. Doesn't anyone care about cleanliness here? And look at these walls, all grimy, and the railings covered in dust. Probably never seen a cloth in their lives..."

Roseanne glanced at her watch, realizing they were running late. Seeing that there wasn't much of an issue, she had no interest in sticking around for more complaints. So, she just walked off.

Silver watched the girl's retreating figure, her lips curving into a smirk.

That sensation of being ignored just intensified.NôvelDrama.Org © content.

She looked up, noting several more flights of stairs, all equally daunting...

Taking a deep breath and gritting her teeth, Silver resigned herself to the climb, her high heels clicking against the steps. As she ascended, she continued to grumble, "Leaving a perfectly good condo to rent this rundown hole... Absolutely maddening..."

Finally reaching the seventh floor, Silver fumbled for the spare key and let herself in.

Owen was out, probably at the lab by this time.

She did a quick tour. The living room was spotless, and it was clear only one person lived here.

She even checked the floor, not a single long hair in sight.

Silver puzzled over this: Maybe she was overthinking things?

Heading to the kitchen to retrieve the lunchbox she had brought over the other day, she froze.

On the kitchen counter, there was only one lunchbox.

Just one.

The other was missing.

Definitely given to someone else.

Something was up!

Without lingering, Silver took the hint and headed straight back to the family mansion.

"See! I knew it!" she exclaimed upon returning.

Ferdinand raised an eyebrow: "Caught him red-handed?"

"Pfft! What red-handed? It's not like he's committing a crime!"

"If you know it's not a crime, why the rush?" he teased.

Silver was lost in thought, ignoring his comments: "What's Owen's character like? Like you said, he wouldn't spare a second glance even if there were girls around. And now he's packing lunches for someone? He's always been a loner, definitely not for a bro. So, he must have a girlfriend now!"

Her initial doubts solidifying into conviction as she analyzed further.

Ferdinand, sipping his tea, looked utterly bemused, "All this fuss just to check up on your son? You really need to find better hobbies. Maybe worry about Neville and Gorman's love lives instead of meddling with the youngest."

Silver stood her ground, "Neville's always been decisive, my advice would fall on deaf ears. And Gorman? Always the heartbreaker, constantly surrounded by scandal. No need for me to worry there."

"But Owen, he's not getting any younger, always buried in his lab work. A mother has to be concerned. My son is exceptional. He doesn't need a superstar wife, just someone we know well enough to trust."

Ferdinand, massaging his forehead in exasperation, "Neville makes his own decisions, and you think Owen doesn't? We shouldn't interfere with whatever is going on with him. It's better to just let nature take its course."

Silver rolled her eyes, "You don't get it."

He didn't understand a mother's heart, nor a mother's worries about her future daughter-in-law... After a day filled with classes, Roseanne had dinner and spent some time at the library.

By the time she stepped out, night had fallen.

Walking home, the streets were well-lit, not at all daunting.

Approaching the stairs to her apartment, she bumped into Owen, just back from his evening run.
