Chapter 549 Successor (Part Two)
Chapter 549 Successor (Part Two)
The villa was filled mostly with adults, so her uncle was the only one who really wanted to play with her.
Hearing Sally's question, a thought came across Terence's mind.
"Grandpa, there is this one person, but..."
Terence said as he shot Carla a bit of a hesitant look.
He had no way to tell whether Carla would be willing to send her precious brother to the army at all.
He had stayed in the military camp before and received training there.
Once people got in, they would be forced to endure hellish days there, which could be totally
unbearable for ordinary people.
"Seriously? Do you have a picture of him, so I could see what this kid looks like?"
When he heard that there was a prospective candidate, Nicholas asked and his eyes lit up in
excitement.
This was his one final wish, so it really meant the world to him.
Carla, who was just a couple of steps away, glanced at Terence. Right now, she knew full well what he
had in mind, but she decided not to say anything.
It should go without saying that she understood how formidable Grandpa Nicholas's connections were.
And she was very much aware that if Sean were to serve in the army, he would have a great future
ahead of him.
But even so, she had some other cause for concern.
Indeed, everyone could see how Grandpa Nicholas had been living a comfortable right now, but only a
select few were privy to the fact that he had one foot on the grave for most of the time when he was
young.
Sean was the only son of the Ji family, so she wouldn't dare to allow him to join something so
dangerous such as the army. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Carla, come over here for a second,"
Terence got up and walked toward the other side of the room, wanting to discuss something with Carla
in private.
Letting out a soft sigh, Carla walked toward him and whispered under her breath, "Terence, I know
what you're thinking. But Sean has just turned 15 years old this year, so I think he is still too young to
be doing something like that. Most importantly, we haven't even asked him if he's interested in it or not."
Truth be told, that wasn't really what she had originally planned for him.
She had been hoping that when Sean was done with his studies, he could work in the AJ Group to lend
Terence a hand, which was a stable job at the very least. And aside from that, she could still continue
looking after him even though she already had a family of her own.
However, if he were to join the army, it would become much more difficult for her to see him, not to
mention his life would be on the line from that day forward.
Carla more or less knew that Grandpa Nicholas's goal couldn't be as simple as serving the military and
the country.
"Age wouldn't really be a problem at all, and I'm confident that Sean is gonna say yes to it. So the thing
that could possibly stop him is you. Would you be willing to send him to the army?"
Terence asked without beating around the bush.
Shaking her head in disagreement, Carla sighed and retorted, "It's not just about me being willing to let
him do as he pleases or not. Sean's whole life is what's on the line. I know he can have a great future if
he decides to do as you want, but he's bound to face danger at any given moment."
"Yes, I know that. How about this? I promise we'll have a serious talk about it when we come back. For
now, I'll simply show grandpa Sean's picture. Besides, you know very well how hard it is to please him,
right?"
Terence put on a smile, and grabbed the phone from Carla's hand. In it was the photo they had taken
of the family yesterday.
Walking and standing right next to Nicholas, Terence zoomed in on the picture and showed it to
Nicholas.
Since he was now farsighted, he had to put on his prescription glasses. Nicholas took the phone and,
putting it a bit farther away, and examined how Sean looked from the phone.
"That's good! The young boy looks vigorous and brimming with energy. He is not short, and he also
seems to have a nice stance,"
Nicholas tried to gauge what kind of person Sean was based on the photo Terence showed.
"Terence, is this boy your brother-in-law and Carla's younger brother?" Nicholas proceeded to ask after
taking a look at the photo of the family.
"Yes, his name is Sean, 15 years of age, and he is about to enter senior high school next semester,"
Terence took a seat and explained.
Nodding his head along, it cropped in Nicholas's mind that he had already heard about Sean from
Terence before. Because of that, he was well aware that Sean had been living a difficult life with Carla
ever since he was young. At the thought of that, it seemed that he was someone who might be capable
of dealing with hardships, a trait that stood out to the kids of the An family.
"Looks great! But you should know that it wouldn't be right to decide everything just from seeing a
photo of him. When you get some free time, go ahead and bring the boy here so I can meet him. If he
is indeed the right person to do it, I'll enlist him in the army when he turns 18."
When she heard this, Carla curled her lips and walked over toward them, wanting to chime in on this
matter.
"Okay, grandpa. It's just about time for him to spend his summer vacation. I'm going to bring him here
then," Terence quickly replied.
Holding Carla's hand, Terence squeezed it gently, shaking it a bit to let her know that she shouldn't say
anything about it right now.
