Chapter 51
Chapter 51
The next morning, Shelmaine opened her eyes and saw Samuel entering the ward. He brought breakfast with him that was still hot. He placed it on the table and asked if she was hungry.
His tone was so gentle that she felt like she had returned to the early days of their marriage for a moment. It was calm and pleasant. When she thought of that, something stirred in her heart.
“Are you hungry? Have something to eat.”
Samuel didn’t change his clothes. He was still wearing the same outfit from the day before.
Shelmaine closed her eyes for a while and said, “I’m fine now. You don’t need to stay here. If Natasha or your mother finds out…”
Before she could finish her sentence, he interrupted her, “We’ll talk about that when you’re discharged from the hospital”
“You’re planning to stay until I’m discharged from the hospital
“Is that really necessary?”
Samuel answered calmly, “I think it is,”
Shelmaine gave up communicating with him. She decided not to make things difficult for herself and got out of bed to wash up. He followed her, using the excuse that he was worried about her….
While ignoring him, she brushed her teeth and washed her face she felt much better than she had the day before and didn’t need his help to move around. Samuel didn’t seem to mind it and even used her tooth paste.
When he came out of the bathroom, shelmaine was already eating breakfast. It was all the food she liked.
She had never told him what she liked to eat, so he must have quietly observed her preferences. After she finished eating, she parted her stomach and asked him how much it cost. Samuel raised his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“Hiring a caregiver costs money,” she said.
“You think of me as your caregiver?”
you not? What are you here for then?
“Are you
Samuel laughed in disbelief. He was angered by what Shelmaine said. He grabbed the cutleries she used and finished off the leftovers. He wasn’t disgusted at all.
After he finished eating, he cleared the table and took a tissue to wipe her mouth. She tried to pull away, but it was no use,
After breakfast, Samoel’s phone rang again. He looked at the screen but didn’t answer. Instead, he turned off the phone.
Shelmaine noticed his actions but didn’t say anything. Then, the nurse came in with her medication. After taking it, she dazed off for a while. Later, she was woken up by a call from Beatri
Beatrix wanted to visit Shelmaine at the hospital, but Shelmaine refused instinctively, she didn’t want her to come.
Beatrix didn’t push it and said, “Mr. Gallagher came by and asked if you were here. I told him that you were sick and that you were in the hospital”
“When did he come?
H
“Just now. He has already left.”
“Did he ask which hospital?
“Yeah, but I didn’t know which hospital you were in, so I didn‘Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Shelmaine glanced at Samuel and said, “Don’t tell him or anyone else. I’ll be discharged from the hospital in a few days.”
“Got it, Boss–Take care of yourself. I’ve got everything under control at the studio.”
“Thank you
“No problem”
When Shelmaine ended the call, she had a long face. She drank a glass of water to calm herself. The ward fell silent for a long while. None of them spoke.
Samuel seemed not to have enough rest, so he sat on the couch and rested with his eyes closed
She looked at him and noticed that the couch was a bit small. To him, it was a little cramped as he couldn’t stretch out his limbs. She guessed he hadn’t slept well last night, but she didn’t tel sorry for him. After all, it was his own doing
