Chapter 60
Chapter 60
“What are you worried about? Eliana asked. She hadn’t stayed in South Haven to accompany Natasha the whole time, and she had gone back to Northville some time ago.
Before she left, she reminded Natasha to call her anytime if something came up
“I’m worried about his ex–wife.”
“Oh, you mean that. But you did remind me, she must be about five or six months pregnant now, right?” Eliana chuckled.

“You don’t need to worry about his ex–wife. I’ll handle it.” As for how Eliana would handle it, she didn’t say.
But Natasha understood what Eliana was going to do. She had long heard about how Eliana dealt with her husband, Carl Hasting’s mistresses. Those methods were truly ruthless. Many years ago, Carl had a mistress who got pregnant, just two months into her pregnancy, she went to Eliana, making a scene and demanding that the Hastings acknowledge
her.
Otherwise, she would make a fuss and let everyone know, she also insisted on giving birth to the child.
Fana agreed to her demands. She rented a villa for the women and hired a maid to take care of her, all under the pretense that the child was part of the Hasting family and would not be mistreated.
But when the woman was about five months pregnant, Eliana caused her to have a miscarriage and got her hospitalized. Rumors had it that her pregnant belly had grown too large due to overmutrition, almost as if she were about to give birth.
The incident nearly cost the woman her life. Her uterus was removed, and it left her infertile for the rest of her life.
During the woman’s stay in the hospital, Eliana often visited her. To outsiders, she seemed mugnanimous and kind–hearted. She seemed so generous even toward Carl’s mistress. But in reality, she had orchestrated the incident. The miscarriage left the woman with a ruined body and nearly cost her life. She never dared confront Eliana again, and there was no more news of her after that
Natasha was well aware of this incident. Although she was still a child back then, the adults around her talked about it often, and she gradually came to understand what had happened
Eliana hadn’t taken any further action after Shelmaine left South Haven a few months ago. In truth, she was just waiting for the right moment.
As Natasha thought so, she felt more at ease, but she wasn’t completely relieved. She was worried that Samuel might go looking for Shelmaine, so she texted one of Samuel’s friends to subtly inquire about his whereabouts.
Brody refused to say anything Matasha had tried to ask him several times, but Brody just played dumb and didn’t reveal anything.
Ferling Irustrated, she had to approach friends she shared with Samuel.
Everyone in their circle knew that Natasha was Samuel’s fiancée and that they were supposed to get married. She was going to be his legal wife.
Like received her message while he was out on business. He didn’t have time to reply immediately, so he waited until he was done to respond to her. “I’m not sure. There haven’t been any gatherings these past few days.”
Natasha complained, “I thought you guys might have secretly gone out without inviting me as well”
Luke replied, “How could that be? Would I do something like that? Come on, you’re the first to know if there are any fun occasions.
“Plus, Samuel is busy. He doesn’t come to every gathering, and he used to not show up often either.”
Natasha pressed, “Used to? How long ago was used to“?”
Realizing he had made a slip of the tongue, Luke hesitated to respond. Obviously, it meant before Samuel married Shelmaine.
He quickly corrected himself, “It was the same even back in school, Pete couldn’t even get him to come, let alone me.
“Plus, you’ve spent more time with him than anyone else, haven’t you? Why do you ask?
Natasha replied, “I’m recovering. He doesn’t take me out on trips anymore.
Luke said, “Oh, I forgot. You’re the ‘sick beauty. Samuel is doing the right thing, and I’m on his side for this.”
Natasha realized she wouldn’t be able to get anything out of Luke, but she insisted. “Have you recently been in contact with her?”
Luke replied, “Her? Who? I’ve been swamped with work. Aellent just reached out, so I’ll have to talk to you later. Let’s catch up next time.” Before Natasha could send another text, Luke had found an excuse to slip away and stopped replying
