Embarrassed
Embarrassed
Horde and Quinn quietly watched her in amusement as she made a fool of herself.
It seemed she couldn't accept the fact that Quinn was someone in that position.
"Tell me! You guys are acting right! He is your lover right!" Kathleen shouted.
Horde narrowed his eyes at her words. She was defaming him....
"Mind your words, Miss Kathleen." Horde warned.
Kathleen suddenly flared up. She completely forgot the decorum that was required of the gathering where they were.
All she knew was that Quinn couldn't be the CEO of any Corporation!
She was a common maid... Yeah that was what she was!
Quinn sat back on her chair and continued watching her.
By this time the attention of other guests were focused on them as Kathleen continued creating a scene.
"Both of you are shameless! CEO of what Corporation? The maids Corporation? Let me tell you something, Quinn. You would forever remain someone lowly; a maid!" Kathleen chuckled without mirth.
*A maid? Why don't I know about that?" Quinn retorted calmly.
She was enjoying herself. More was on it's way.
Wasn't Kathleen determined to embarrass her? She might as well, return the favor to her.
"Are you trying to deny it?" Kathleen raised her voice a notch higher.
"What is going on here?" An icy voice questioned.
Other guests began nudging themselves.
Nicole Stone!
Quinn chuckled inwardly. Her mother had always been determined to teach the lady that disgraced her daughter a lesson.
This was an ample opportunity for her to.
"Good evening." Kathleen politely bowed.
Her heart was racing in both fear and excitement.
Reason why she was afraid?
This was Nicole Stone! Wife of the CEO of the Stones Perfume empire.
How dare she show any sign of disrespect?
"I didn't ask for your greeting. Are you the cause of the commotion?" Nicole questioned coldly.
She was trying to hold back the urge to throw a tight slap on Kathleen's face.
Wasn't she the one that gave her daughter some measly money and sent her away from her boss's house?
She was going to teach her a little lesson today. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"I'm not the one, Mrs Stone. This young lady and Mr Horde is." Kathleen exempted herself from the mix.
Mr Horde?
The other guests began whispering.
Wasn't she too shameless?
She was clearly the one who started up everything, and yet when someone powerful appeared, she denied any involvement.
Shameless!
Nicole turned to stare at Mr Horde,
"What is the problem? Who is bullying my foster daughter?" Fury was clearly emitting from her body.
Foster daughter?
Her words stirred up more whispers... This was quite some news!
Kathleen at that moment began shivering in fear.
She had refused to accept that Quinn was a CEO, a moment ago.
And now, this powerful woman was saying Quinn was her foster daughter?
Did she just insult a relation of the Stones family?
Quinn however wasn't impressed.
She wanted to facepalm herself... Wasn't her mother going too far?
Saying that she was her foster daughter?
Well... It would soon be revealed sooner or later that she was the heiress of the Stones family.
She turned to look at Kathleen, and wanted to laugh.
The look on her face was so amusing... Hah... She was satisfied.
Horde wasn't so surprised as the other guests were, he had already made his assumptions after all. He was just a little surprised, that it was true.
He explained everything to Nicole. After he was done, Nicole turned towards Kathleen with a murderous look on her face.
She walked closer to Kathleen. With each step she took, Kathleen took one back.
Suddenly, a loud slap resounded across the hall.
'Pak!!'
Kathleen almost stumbled from the sheer force of it. She held her cheeks in disbelief.
Did she just get slapped?
Nicole withdrew her hands calmly, and cleaned her hands with a hanky.
She then walked over and threw it into the dustbin.
Kathleen was ashamed.... She could understand the meaning behind Nicole's actions.
Didn't she just call Quinn a maid? Nicole was trying to tell her that she wasn't fit to even be her maid at all!
However, Kathleen couldn't retaliate.
Could she dare to?
This was Nicole Stone! It was already an honor to be standing in front of her.
"Did you call my daughter a maid?" Nicole snarled.
She towered above Kathleen and Kathleen almost shrank back in fear...
"No... I didn't...-"
'Pak!!!'
Another slap interrupted her words.
"Shut up! In fact, you have no right to be here. Who do you think you are?" Her words were clear.
Her social standing wasn't enough to be amongst the people gathered at the party.
She was just the CEO of a conglomerate!
She couldn't even compare to a little bit of Nicole's standing.
And yet she calling her foster daughter, a maid.
The other guests began laughing as they stared at Kathleen with a look of mockery on their faces.
"Mum... It's fine. I'm sure, Miss Kathleen didn't mean any harm. She could do well to apologize, right?" Quinn smiled brightly.
That's right.
Kathleen remembered that Quinn was the foster daughter of the Stones family.
Her mind instantly went to Henry.
If Quinn wanted, she could as well throw Kathleen out of the marriage, by telling Henry to divorce her.
Even the parents of Henry wouldn't side with her at all...
The marriage after all, was an alliance.
If his parents heard that Quinn had ties with the Stones, she might do good to divorce Henry on her own.
The disgrace would be much!
"I'm sorry, Miss Quinn." Kathleen's apology wasn't a sincere one.
Nicole wanted to speak, but Quinn gestured her not to.
She could see that Kathleen's pride had been wounded.
Nicole scoffed and turned to return to the high table with a composed gait and confidence.
Kathleen felt she couldn't leave now. If it were possible, she wanted to be swallowed whole, by the ground.
She found a quiet spot and sat down leaving an amused Quinn at the table.

Henry was watching everything from where he sat. When Kathleen had begun causing a scene, he had wanted to step forward. But when he saw that Quinn was indifferent, he waited to see what would happen.
Now, he was thoroughly shocked. So shocked that he sat still.
Quinn had ties with the Stones!
But....
Why didn't she say a word about it, to him.
Funny, how he had thought their social standing was the same.
Whereas...
They were miles apart from each other...
Was he actually living with the foster daughter of the Stones?
