Chapter 156 A Reach-me-down?
Chapter 156 A Reach-me-down?
"Hi, Mr. Hnad."
Isabella politely shook her hand with him.
"Miss Jones, make yourself and your subordinates at home. They've been too polite just now." Jafari
laughed heartily.
"I think it's because I was late just now and they were afraid to offend you. I'll tell them later." Isabella
smiled lightly.
Jafari then pointed at a group of young people chatting casually with each other, saying, "As expected,
Miss Jones knows how to educate subordinates. My people are just like kids who don't know how to
behave. Look at them, and you shouldn't make joke of me okay?"
"They're still young, and know what to do in different situations. I heard Mr. Hand is the most open-
minded leader, while everyone in our department is scared of me."
Isabella smiled gracefully, while her tone sounded flattery.
After that, she ordered John in front of Jafari: "Let them make friends as they want. Don't mind me."
John nodded and left.
Jafari's eyes flashed, and suddenly smiled at her: "Miss Jones, let those young people do what they
want, let's go there and have a chat?"
Isabella had no reason to reject, but only nod politely: "Sure."
She was also in her twenties. Was she that old?
They then sat on a couch.
Jafari waved his hand and a waiter brought them two glasses of wine.
Seeing this, Isabella's face slightly changed.
Holding a glass in one hand, Jafari then handed her another one, "Miss Jones."
Smiling, Isabella took the glass and clinked it. She then took a sip and put it down, "Mr. Hand, you can
also go chat with them."
"Nah, I'm getting old. If I were ten years younger, I would definitely do it. However, a pretty and graceful
lady like you should be the most dazzling one here, Miss Jones."
Isabella's face blushed, and she pretended to lower her head in embarrassment, "Mr. Hand, you're
flattering me. I've already got married."
After working for a few years, she'd learned a lot about how to judge people, especially such
sanctimonious old man. Since she came to this hotel, he'd never taken his eyes off her.
She didn't believe they would even be interested in married women.
"You're already married, Miss Jones?" Jafari was indeed surprised.
Pretending to be startled, Isabella then laughed: "I thought everyone knew that. But I just got divorced
recently."
Self-deprecation was often used as a way to protect herself. She also didn't care much of her own
image.
"Divorced? You truly dare to love and hate, Miss Jones. But you will definitely find a better one since
you're still so young." A trace of coldness flashed through Jafari's eyes, but he remained his smile and
soft tone.
"I also think so." Isabella wasn't modest at all, but sounded a bit arrogant. With a smile, she raised her
glass and clink with him, her voice soft and calm, "Do you have any child, Mr. Hand?"
In such kind of situation, it was inappropriate to talk about work. So the best way to avoid his evil mind
was to talk about his family.
Jafari hadn't expected she would suddenly mentioned this. He paused for a moment and smiled faintly.
"Two, both in junior high school now."
"One daughter and one son?"
"Yup."
Isabella pretended to be surprised, "Then you're truly very lucky, Mr, Hand, with successful career and
two kids."
She didn't forget to remind his family while flattering him.
Jafari smiled in embarrassment, "I'm okay."
"Then you must love your wife very much." Isabella pushed the dessert on table in front of him and
smiled.
The expression on Jafari's face stiffened. "Err... We're good."
Politely smiling, Isabella no longer spoke.
After a while, Jafari's phone suddenly rang. He apologetically said, "Sorry, I need to answer a call."
"No worries." Isabella said.
Jafari then walked to the far corner. He pressed the answer button and his face immediately turned
dark.
"So this is the gift you gave me tonight? A divorced woman? How can you give me such a reach-me-
down?"
A woman's cold laughter came from the other end of the phone, "You want me to find a innocent and
pure girl for you? Stop dreaming! I sent you there to finish my plan, not to have fun. If you ruin my
plans, I'll let everyone know what you've done and kick you out of Polygon tomorrow!"
"You!" Jafari was so angry that his face turned purple.
"Do you know what our CEO hates the most? I can put you into this position, but I can also ruin your
reputation right away."
Hearing this, Jafari's face changed.
Isabella sat alone for a while. Seeing that, Minh came over and asked, "Miss Jones, why don't you join
us?"
She didn't want to pretend in front of Minh, so she casually smiled and said, "I just don't want to move."
Now that her belly was getting bigger and bigger, and pregnant women were prone to fatigue. She
endured her tiredness when she went to work everyday.
Minh immediately frowned, asking with concern: "Then why don't you go home first. We can take care
of this."
"No, their manager is an old cunning fox. If I leave, there will be rumours of me being arrogant and not
respecting Polygon. Mr. Smith will definitely blame me."
Minh leaned in close and whispered: "Don't you feel it strange about they just inviting our department?
Do you know that Jafari before?"
"No." Isabella also started to ponder, "And I don't know why."
It was her first time seeing that Jafari Hand.
He was manager of the Polygon filiale, whom she hadn't met before when she went there with
Christian.
Minh said in a low voice: "Could it be that Lothario thinks you're pretty and young, and has some bad
ideas on you?"
"…"
Isabella was startled. She stared straight at him for a good while, then exclaimed out loud: "Minh, can
you just see through everything?"
How did he know that?
She was just a bit surprised at his keen observation, which again reminded her of his working ability.
Minh's face immediately turned cold, "Did he really do something to you?"
"No, he dared not, even if he wanted to." Isabella laughed.
Glancing at her, Minh suddenly laughed playfully: "That's right, if he dares to touch you, Mr. Miller
would probably kill him."
"…"
Isabella glared at him without saying a word.
She finally understood that this young man'd probably figured out her relationship with Christian since
long ago. He just pretended that he didn't know.
Jafari came back and said to everyone, "Guys, dinner is ready. Let's go upstairs." Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
"Book the whole hotel. They're indeed rich" Minh laughed, with a meaningful look in his eyes: "Miss
Jones, who do you think will pay for this? The Polygon Group? Does Mr. Miller know about it? "
