Miss You
“So, can I go home now?”
Kenzi nodded, confirming his sibling’s question. After approximately 17 days of intensive treatment at the hospital, today the doctor allowed Kaivan to return home. That’s why, before heading to work, both Kenzi and Edward took the time to pick up Kaivan from the hospital.
Looking at his condition, Kaivan was currently much improved. You could say he was back to his normal self. However, he was still advised not to engage in heavy work or anything that would strain his energy.
“I’ll give you a ride. Now you just need to decide, whether you want to go home or to the hotel like before?” Kenzi asked to make sure.
The question had its reasons. Who knows, since his wife wasn’t in London, Kaivan might want to spend his time resting at home. Considering that before Anne came into his life, he used to spend more time at home. Recently, he had been spending time in the hotel.
“Just take me to the hotel, Ken. It would be crazy if I were alone at home,” he protested. “Besides, I’m afraid that when Anne returns to London, she won’t find me at the hotel.”
It was Edward, not Kenzi, who made a disgruntled sound upon hearing the reason from the man in front of them.
“Such a strange human. If you’re not at the hotel, just tell your wife to come home immediately and find you at home-”
“The problem is, until this moment, I haven’t been able to contact Anne at all,” Kaivan interrupted. “So, how am I supposed to let her know where I am?”
Kaivan was actually a little disappointed with this situation. A few days ago, when he tried to call Anne, her phone couldn’t be reached at all. The same went for Noah. The two siblings had suddenly disappeared.
However, Kaivan tried to stay positive. Not to mention, Hans also mentioned how Noah had left a message with him long ago. If someday he and his younger sibling were hard to reach, there was no need to worry. Perhaps both of them were undergoing examinations and investigations related to the Valentino case.
“Alright, since all the final examination procedures have been completed, I’ll take you to the hotel right now.”
Kenzi and Edward then promptly took Kaivan home to the Four Season Hotel. Upon arrival, Mike and Meggy were already there to welcome them all. The two of Kaivan’s assistants quickly escorted their boss to his room.
“Since we need to start work right away, Edward and I can’t stay here for long,” Kenzi said to Kaivan. “If you need anything, just contact me. I’ll stop by to check on you after work. As the only sibling, I’m genuinely concerned about your well-being.”
While Kaivan was seated on the living room sofa, he nodded. Then, he responded, “No need to worry. I’m perfectly fine. I’m in much better shape now. Maybe today I’ll rest for a while before returning to work tomorrow as usual.”
Seeing his sibling’s much improved condition, Kenzi embraced him. He and Edward prepared to leave for work.
“Get plenty of rest. Mom mentioned she’ll visit you later tonight,” he added after letting go of the hug.
Moments later, Kaivan’s attention shifted to Edward. Just like his younger brother, Edward also briefly hugged Kaivan before leaving.
“Recover quickly. Just so you know, I can’t wait to beat you in the shooting arena. Your skills are probably abysmal now,” he teased intentionally.
“Don’t even dream about it!” Kaivan retorted. “Even if I’m sick, you’ll never be able to beat me.”
After Kenzi and Edward left, Kaivan chose to go into his room. He walked slowly to the bedside and sat down.
In silence, Kaivan took out his phone from his pants pocket. He wiped the screen and opened the gallery to look at each candid photo he had taken of Anne during their past dates. So many memories instantly played in his mind. He reminisced about the happy moments he had shared with his wife.
“I miss you,” Kaivan typed. He was ready to send a brief message to Anna Maria.
Kaivan didn’t care whether the message would reach Anne or whether she would read it at all. What mattered was that he wouldn’t tire of sending that message until Anne reactivated her phone and replied.
Lost in his thoughts of the past, Kaivan was startled by Meggy’s presence. Moreover, his assistant knocked on the door and entered the room with a guest.
“I’m sorry, Mister, if I’m disturbing your rest time. But there’s a guest who insists on meeting with you. I tried to stop her, but she insisted,”
Kaivan nodded, then waved his hand in the air, signaling for Meggy to leave the room.
“Veronica… why are you looking for me so early in the morning?” Kaivan asked. He got up and shortly after, made his way out of the room towards the living room sofa, where he sat down again.
Veronica followed Kaivan’s steps and took a seat not far from him.
“Of course, I wanted to visit you. Earlier, I came to the hospital, but the nurses said you had just gone home. That’s why I decided to come after you.”
Kaivan nodded in understanding.
“I was indeed scheduled to go home today. My health condition is much better now.”
“Yeah, I know. Your improved condition is quite evident,” Veronica responded. She then took something out of her bag and placed it on the table, offering it to Kaivan.
“I brought you the Fettuccine you usually eat. I’m sure you must be really missing Italian food.”
Veronica then got up and moved to sit right next to Kaivan. Her hand extended to open the container of food she had brought, ready to feed the Fettuccine to Kaivan.
“Try it, I’ll feed you.”
Kaivan didn’t immediately agree. Politely, he tried to decline.
“Vero, thank you for the attention you’ve shown me these past few days. But really, you don’t have to do this. Because-”
“Because you already have Anna Maria and you’re no longer interested in me?” Veronica interjected. “It’s okay. I understand. Let’s just consider this as a friend’s concern. I’m not expecting anything more from you.”
Kaivan remained silent, not responding to the woman’s words. This prompted Veronica to speak again.
“Don’t worry, Kaivan. This is purely a friend’s concern. I don’t expect anything in return from you. So you don’t need to feel awkward or uncomfortable.”This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Kaivan pondered for a while. Eventually, he reluctantly accepted a bite of the food Veronica had specially brought for him.
