Chapter 1917
Chapter 1917
Persephone froze as she gazed at Morpheus.
He bore numerous wounds, spanning from his neck down to the back of his feet. Positioned with his back to the bathroom door, he appeared to be tending to an injury on his back.
Bruises, swelling, cuts…
There were bruises and patches of dried blood, silently proclaiming to the world that he had endured a brutal and vicious battle.
Yet, at the shopping mall, he had displayed nothing.
It turned out he had been suppressing his pain.
Persephone felt a jolt in her heart. Her hand, covering her mouth, slowly dropped.
“Aren’t you… sleeping?” he asked.
“I woke up,” she said softly. “Your wounds.”
“It’s nothing.”
Morpheus seemed calm, but his heart was in turmoil. Grabbing his clothes quietly, he accidentally aggravated the wounds on his back in his haste.
He bit his lip, striving to endure it.
“L-Let me tend to your wounds!” Persephone suddenly said.
Morpheus was stunned—doubt flashed through his eyes.
His reason urged him to keep his distance, yet his heart yearned for her to nurse his wounds.
No one had ever cared for him or relieved his pain.
He was accustomed to the harsh realities of life. Even a sliver of sunlight breaking through the clouds was precious to him. However, he knew that the thing he cherished belonged to another world, not his.
“You can’t reach your back,” she said in a testing manner. “Let me help you, okay?”
“No need,” he rejected her coldly.
Persephone looked down and reluctantly continued a moment later. “It’s no trouble at all. I’m relying on you. At least, I should help you.”
“I said no need. Do you not understand?!” He suddenly raised his voice like a wild beast roaring in the night.
She was shocked, looking at him blankly.
“Take the blanket and pillow and sleep in the room!”
“What?”
“I wanted to give you the room.” He glanced at her. “Do as I say!”
“Morpheus…”
She stood there helplessly, clueless about his sudden drastic change. Despite her good intentions, he made her seem mean.Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updates…
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she tried her best to hold them back as she sat on the couch.
Morpheus widened his eyes. “Didn’t I ask you to go to the room?”
There was a door in the room. He could tend to himself in the living room as soon as she closed the door and wouldn’t have to do it secretly. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
However, now that she was still in the living room.
“Sleep in the room, Persephone!”
She pouted and ignored him.
“Am I speaking a foreign language that you don’t understand?”
She was still upset.
Morpheus couldn’t do anything about her. He could only grab her. However, the wounds on his back acted up as soon as he bent and stretched his arms. He instinctively sucked sharply, startling Persephone. Just as she was getting up, they accidentally bumped heads.
“Ahh!” She held her head and groaned.
He panicked and wanted to check her head, but it was messy in the dark. He hit somewhere and fell onto the couch. The pain in his back was burning.
“Are you okay?” she asked in concern.
“I’m okay.”
However, in the dim lights, she saw the terrifying wounds on his back.
