Chapter 1931
Persephone followed Seamus, but her heart lingered in the car. She reluctantly glanced back. Morpheus was still standing there.
She couldn’t make out his face in the nighttime darkness, yet she felt his intense gaze following her.
Her nose tingled, and she heard Seamus’ voice again. “Miss, please hurry up!”
She paused.
Seamus, anxious and amused, remarked, “If it were still the old days, I’d gladly carry you on my back!”
“Okay, okay,” Persephone grumbled. “Aren’t I already walking…”
Walking? Seamus couldn’t help but chuckle. Persephone’s feet felt glued to the ground, each step seeming like she was lifting a ton.
He knew she still held thoughts for the man not far away. He sighed softly and patted her shoulder in a brotherly way. “Miss, time is really pressing… If you still want to see Mr. Orton after we get home, we can send someone—”
Before Seamus could finish, a tremendous explosion echoed from the sea!
It sounded like a roaring demon in the darkness. Persephone suddenly felt dizzy. Accompanying the sound was the earth’s trembling and waves of scorching heat!
The air instantly felt like it was on fire, her skin beginning to sear. In the midst of her blank mind, strong arms swiftly pulled her close, and the next moment, she collided with that firm yet familiar chest.
“The ship exploded!” Seamus yelled, stunned as he looked toward the sea. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
At the same time, shards from the ship’s explosion fell like blades from the sky!
Morpheus shielded Persephone with his body. Fragments struck his head and back, leaving bloody marks, but they didn’t harm the one in his embrace.
Instinctively, Persephone clung tightly to him. Only in his arms could she find complete security.
The flames soared from the sea, turning half the night sky into crimson. The sound quickly alerted nearby people, and the police swiftly arrived, sealing off the scene.
Everyone present was taken to the police station for questioning.
Persephone and Seamus were separated and taken into different rooms. However, when the police asked her for basic information, she stared blankly at them. She still had not fully recovered from the recent shock. Her mind was blank, unable to articulate anything.
“Miss!” The officer grew impatient, raising his voice. “Your name, date of birth, and home address?”
Persephone bit her lip, struggling to gather her thoughts from the chaotic whirl in her mind.
“I… I’m Persephone Hamerton…”

“I…” She didn’t have any identification. Since the day Kourtney kidnapped her, her backpack and everything inside were gone.
“You have no documents?” The suspicion in the officer’s gaze intensified. “Then how did you come to Flinge?”
Persephone remained silent with her head lowered.
“Miss, if you can’t produce legal documents, we have reason to suspect you’re an illegal immigrant. And you might also be involved in this explosion case!”
The officer seemed to put on a show, slamming the table and causing Persephone’s heart to jolt.
“Miss, please cooperate with our investigation!”
Just then, a knock at the door interrupted them. Another officer entered and exchanged a few words with the officer inside, whose expression slightly changed before glancing at Persephone.
Next thing she knew, she saw a tall shadow that blocked the harsh white light from above.
