Marrying my high school bully

A persistent apology

Chapter 61

Lorraine

It felt so good to prepare for the main runway show. Despite the obstacles that caused me some distractions, it didn’t stop me from getting the job done.

The new designs were mind blowing and I couldn’t wait to put them on. I could own all of them if I wanted, all I needed to do was make a demand and it will be settled.

As soon as the artist finished with my face, Dexter barged in with a bright smile, his eyes blaring with adoration for me. I liked it when he looked at me that way, like he wasn’t tired of being with me.

Ever since the video about my marriage with Dexter hit the internet, my colleagues stayed away from me and changed their attitude.

Marianna, who disliked me with passion, went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable when I came this morning. I guess they were all scared of losing their contracts with the agency.

“You look so stunning, baby. I can’t wait for you to climb that stage and show them who the boss is.” He said, hyping me with so much enthusiasm.

Two weeks ago, I was thinking of ways to make him go mad with jealousy, but here we were, loving each other like no one else existed.

“And I’ll be on the stage because you gave me the chance to. Don’t be surprised if I get other modelling contracts; that will mean more money for me.” I grinned, giddy with excitement.

“Sure. I’m not going to stop your dream because I want you to succeed.” He said sweetly and I gave him a light kiss on the lips so that my make up wouldn’t have a dent. “I think we should go on a vacation after this. We need to spend some time together before preparing for the wedding.”

I nodded, agreeing to everything he said as I wondered why he was more excited about the wedding than me.

In our society, it seemed that the woman should be more thrilled about getting married than the man. Apparently, there was a switch in the order of things.

“A vacation won’t be a bad idea. Where do you think we should go to?”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

He palmed my head and kissed my forehead. “It’s your choice to make. I’ll be fine with whatever place you choose.”

A blush rose up my cheeks. “Why are you so sweet? I thought this part of you died seven years ago?” My mind flashed back to the night he disvirgined me.

“It didn’t die. It was just buried and waiting to be reawakened.” He checked his wristwatch and helped me up while I smiled at his kind gesture. “You have to get going. The show is about to begin.”

I dragged in a deep breath and patted my hair that was styled into a tight bun to make sure none of the strands weren’t dangling freely. “Thank for being here, Dex, you don’t know how much this means to me.”

“You’re welcome.”

He escorted me out of the room then he headed to the other side of stage, but behind the curtains. The other models were already lined up and waiting to be called out so I joined and waited patiently.

The urge to pee poked at my bladder and I cursed under my breath. This was the worst time to leave as anything could happen.

My mind quickly recalled what happened at the last show and I decided to keep it in. Being on the runway wouldn’t take so much time; it was either I waited or missed the show.

Finally, we were called out to hop on the runway. I was the last as usual but that didn’t deter me from cheering on the models who had already taken their turn.

My outfit was a jumpsuit that has slits at the hems of both sides. The sleeves were crossed against each other and a star cut was created at the back. My cleavages were well covered by the cups of the padded bra and the corset kept my stomach in shape.

What I liked more was the color combination; beige and deep blue that made me look elevated. I was surely going to sow more of these kind of clothes.

It got to my turn and I stepped out without any reservations, enjoying the awestruck stares that they threw at me. I ignored them as I couldn’t allow myself to get distracted.

There was no slippery shoes this time or an annoying pretend husband, just pure love and support from the people around me. It was surprising how my life turned around so quickly.

I did a twirl and propped my arm against my waist, flashing them my sweetest smile, then did a u-turn and returned to the backstage. They all rose up and applauded me.

“Girl, you did so well.” Stefan chirped when I returned to the dressing room. “There are several brands out there asking for you services and you are going to give it to them.”

He got my attention. “What brands are you talking about?”

“Lingerie brands, clothing brands, skincare brands.” He listed them and my heart swelled with excitement. “While you were on the stage, I was busy with phone calls from the brand’s representatives. You have grown so much, honey.” He smiled brightly.

My eyes were beginning to water as I was overwhelmed with the good news he shared with me.

“This is so good, Stefan, and you know what? I’m ready for everything that comes with being a model. I won’t be just a model, I will be the model that everyone wants.” I declared, unable to hold back my happiness.

He nodded to everything I said then hugged me. “I’m happy with your progress. Just keep it up, alright?” He patted my back and left so that I could change my outfit.

A knock resonated on the door, but I was already done dressing so I let the person in.

Emilia strolled in, her body radiating with tension as she put on an anxious smile. “Hey,” Her tone brimmed with nervousness and I could understand why.

Months back, she could humiliate me the way she wanted, but now she couldn’t even see me except I allowed her. I put on an unreadable expression as I hooked my earrings.

“Hi.” I replied casually, throwing my hand bag on.

She swallowed and scratched her well styled hair. “Congratulations on the success of the show. You did great out there.”

My eyes widened, flashing a cursory glance at her to be sure that I wasn’t standing in front of an impostor. What changed Emilia? I thought.

“Thank you very much, but why are you here?” I made sure to sound uninterested because I was.

“To say I’m sorry again, and to tell you that I won’t stop until we become friends or at least acquaintances.” She said with so much confidence I almost laughed.

A rude response rolled to the tip of my tongue, but I held it back and opted for a better reply. “I bear no grudges against you, I just like to keep to myself.”

She fell to her knees and crawled towards me, holding onto the hem of my dress. “Look, Lorraine, I’ve realised my wrongs and I want to make amends but that won’t be possible if you don’t give me a chance.” Her voice cracked, her lips quivering as if she wanted to cry.

I wouldn’t be able to watch her cry so I lifted her up while she beamed with relief.

“I’ll give you a chance, but let’s take things slowly because I don’t trust you.” I said and she did the unexpected and flung herself at me.

“Thank you so much, Lorraine, I promise I’ll be the best friend you’ve ever had.”
