Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 283

When the cigarette burnt his fingers, Everett finally stubbed it out. He picked up his phone and quickly dialed a number. The call was promptly answered with a respectful, "Sir."

"Is she eating?" Everett asked, getting straight to the point.

"Yes, she's eating now," Ava replied.

"Make sure she's well taken care of."

Just as Everett was about to hang up, Ava quickly interjected, "Sir, are you really leaving? Shouldn't you be with your wife? Women are especially vulnerable at times like this. Your presence is important!"

"Even if she's upset with you, you can't just walk away like that!" she insisted.

Everett's brow furrowed, his voice turning stern. "Ava, you're crossing a line."

Ava fell silent, but she thought of how kind Selena had been to her, and she couldn't help herself. "Sir, are you going to see that other woman? I'm not one to judge, but this isn't right! No wonder your wife wants a divorce!" Even over the phone, Ava could sense the tension building. She swallowed nervously and decided it was best not to push further.

"I'll take good care of her, sir," she assured him, determined to give her best effort regardless.

As soon as she finished speaking, the line went dead with a busy tone. Ava pouted, slipping her phone back in her pocket. She had always been a fan of the couple, but now, she was all in for supporting Selena's independence! If a divorce did happen, Ava would be there to support her, help with Sydney, and look after the kids.

With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Ava skillfully prepared the medication and brought it back to the hospital room.

Selena had managed to eat a little and didn't look as fragile as before, seeming more whole than she had earlier.

Ava handed her the medicine.

"Ma'am, the doctor said this

medicine was key to saving the baby, It's got excellent, invaluable properties that will keep you healthy during pregnancy."

She added, "At least Kathlen did one good thing!"

Selena stared at the bowl, surprised. She hadn't expected Kathlen's medicine to work so well. For that, she felt a touch of gratitude.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Everett didn't show up all afternoon, and with Ava's vague comments, Selena had a good idea of what was going on, but she didn't ask. She didn't care anymore.

Her priority now was to recover quickly so she could leave Everett and take her child with her.

As night fell, the vast city grew quiet. Selena tried to sleep but lay awake. Perhaps she had napped too much earlier in the day.

Footsteps echoed in the hallway,

drawing closer until they stopped at her door. She heard the soft creak as the door was gently pushed open. The dim light from the corridor outside cast a long shadow across the floor.

After being kidnapped by Jimmy, Selena was understandably jumpy!

Even though Ava had reassured her that Jimmy was in custody, she couldn't shake the fear that he might somehow find a way back to her.

Her breathing quickened, her heart racing. She shot up from her bed, reached for her phone, quickly dialed a number, and called out towards the door. "Who's there?"
