Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 47

Selena was suddenly full of questions.

She'd been running around tirelessly trying to find the perfect gift, yet to him, it felt like it was all for nothing. Was he just nitpicking for the sake of it?

"Mr. Bennett, you have a habit of finding company elsewhere, but that does that mean you must assume everyone else does too? Don't project your standards onto me. I'm not as low as you think." After a moment, she added, with a chill in her voice, "Even if I wanted to look for someone else, I'd wait until after the divorce. I spent three years in this grave of a marriage, and I can hold on a bit longer." She was beyond exhausted, struggling to keep her emotions in check. After she finished speaking, she didn't bother to look at him and headed straight upstairs.

But Everett wasn't about to let her go so easily. He grabbed her arm, pulling her back. His dark eyes were fixed on her, brimming with icy anger. "So, you're thinking of moving on to someone new?"

The question was laughable, and Selena couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh. She lifted her chin defiantly. "What do you think? You expect me to cling to you forever? You don't seriously think that after divorcing you, I'd stay single forever, do you? What a fantasy. And I'm sure my next partner will be amazing, thanks to the lesson I've learned from you."

Everett's face darkened like a storm cloud, his glare intense enough to bore holes through her. In a flash, he retorted with disdain, "You think you'll find someone better than me? Selena, you're the one dreaming!"

Selena rolled her eyes. She knew he had the confidence to back up his words but was still stunned by his arrogance.

Her eyelids drooped with fatigue, too weary to argue anymore. She pulled her hand back and gave him a sarcastic thumbs up. "Oh sure, sure, you're absolutely right. Whatever you say."

Everett's lips pressed into a thin line, the chill around him only growing. What was with her attitude?

He was about to say more when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and, swallowing his anger, answered the call.

Selena wasn't about to stick around. Without a word, she headed upstairs.

Ava, who had been eavesdropping downstairs, saw the whole scene unfold and muttered to herself. Everett had been losing sleep,

speak to her nicely when they finally met?

Young people these days were always stirring up drama for themselves.

...

Selena took a quick, invigorating shower and let out a contented sigh as she fell onto the bed. She couldn't help but wriggle around a bit.

They got what you paid for; her sleep quality was incredible, leaving her feeling refreshed and completely rested.

She couldn't help but think about making sure to take the mattress with her when the divorce is finalized in six months!

Just as she was about to drift off, Everett walked in. He'd already showered in the guest bathroom,è wrapped in a loose bathrobe, his hair still damp, water droplets slipping down his chest-a silent temptation.

Selena wasn't in the mood to appreciate his looks. She thought they'd agreed to sleep in separate rooms once they signed the divorce agreement. So what was he doing now?NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

She watched him stride over and flip the covers. She sat up, lost for words. "Given our situation, do you really think it's appropriate for us to share a bed?"
