Mommy 324
Chapter 324 "Are you taking a break tomorrow, Charlie?" Kamryn asked. Charlie wiped his dripping hair while walking to the bed. When he stopped, he raised his eyebrows and looked at her. "Yes, why do you ask?"
She widened her bright eyes and replied expectantly, "Then, how about going to the mall tomorrow morning to buy some clothes for Eugene?"
Charlie got puzzled, "Why do you wanna buy clothes for him?" "Don't you see that he seems to have grown taller recently, and his clothes are a little short for him. Let's go with him to buy some more!"
"He gets taller?" Stunned again, Charlie asked somewhat incredulously, "Really?" Due to a physical problem, the growth of the Eugene was slower than that of a normal child. Not only did he often get sick, but he had also undergone several severe surgeries, which weakened his vitality even more. Therefore, though at an age of physical growth, the change in his appearance was not obvious.
When other children of the same age could grow several inchs in just one month, his body was always thin and weak. Despite of the natural height advantage inherited from Charlie, he was a little shorter than his peers.
As a father, Charlie of course hoped that his little boy could grow tall, strong, and as healthy as possible.
But he knew in his heart that Eugene could never fully recover unless the hidden danger of his health was removed. Charlie couldn't help but cast his gaze on Kamryn's belly which was still flat now, as he suddenly thought of the little being in it. Eight months to go... No, just seven and a half months!
Kamryn and he had been looking forward to the birth of their second kid so much. Because the cord blood was the only hope that Eugene could be completely cured! "Eugene's really grown taller. Just measure his height tomorrow, if you don't believe it! I noticed that his clothes were shorter thus much when playing with him today!"
While speaking, Kamryn raised her hand excitedly and used her index finger and thumb to make a distance, trying to show Charlie the length of Eugene's growth. Caught back by her little cute gesture from his trance, Charlie wanted to laugh and weep all at once. He sighed, "It's just a little bit, almost no difference!"
The distance between Kamryn's fingers seemed to be even less than one inch. No one would notice it without careful observation, but she did. She responded solemnly, "There is difference! Don't ignore a little bit!" A smile climbed on Charlie's face. He gave up arguing with her, saying, "Well, you're right."
"Then let's go to the mall tomorrow! And buy some clothes for Eugene!" Kamryn got more and more excited. However, her words confused Charlie who asked, "Why do we have to go to the mall?"
"To buy clothes!" "Just let the designer come home and customize for Eugene." Charlie suggested naturally. After a pause, he added, "Eugene has never worn clothes bought outside since he was a child." Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Kamryn was stunned for a second and asked blankly, "Then what does he usually wear?" "Customized." Charlie answered casually, "We have our own clothing company which employs a lot of designers. Normally, our clothes are custom-made by them. Like Eugene, he has three exclusive children's clothing designers who only serve him." Kamryn was too petrified to respond a word.
She thought, Personal haute couture... Exclusive designer... Custom-made service... Oh my god! Poverty has really limited my imagination. Life of rich and powerful families is in this way! Even their clothes are abnormal. They live such an upmarket life!' For an ordinary person like her who only buys clothes in malls, it was really unimaginable luxury!
Coming back to her senses, she couldn't help but look at Charlie's dark bathrobe with a stunning gaze and utter faintly, "Then... the bathrobe you're wearing now..." 'Is it also a custom-made one?' Not finishing the question, she asked in her heart. "Yes."
Charlie nodded casually. This one word was enough to answer Kamryn's doubt. She wanted to cry but couldn't. She suddenly realized that she had underestimated Charlie's financial power. A personal haute couture, as unattainable as the flowers on the top of mountains for ordinary people, was just the most common daily necessities for him, such as the bathrobe he wore. But what made her want to cry was not this...
She remembered a time when, on a whim, she wanted to do some housework, so she stuffed the white shirts, light-colored casual pants, and ties that Charlie had worn into the washing machine excitedly.
After adding the washing powder and turning the machine on, she began to watch the rolling. She thought to herself happily, 'When Charlie gets off work and finds that I have washed the clothes, he will definitely praise me for my diligence and capability!' However, she had never expected what would happen eventually... The washed clothes were wrinkled like dried vegetables. The tie was tied itself, the pants were shrunk, and the snow-white shirt was inexplicably dyed with color. What a mess! Kamryn was frozen when looking at the pile of wrinkled clothes.
She had followed the normal procedure... Why did it end up like this?! After Charlie came back, she ran to apologize listlessly, indicating that she was wronged, she didn't know what was the problem.
Instead of replying immediately, the man just stroked her head, and then said to her slowly, "There are servants at home. You don't need to do this kind of thing."
His words managed to appease Kamryn, making her feel sweet in her heart. Thus, she did not take it seriously. Those clothes that could not be worn again were all thrown away by the servants. Now, when Kamryn thought of it, the corners of her mouth twitched fiercely. She covered her chest with one hand, as if she couldn't even breathe smoothly.
She asked Charlie in a trembling voice, "Are those clothes that used machine to wash... also custom-made?!" The man only remembered about it after she reminded him. He couldn't help but make a laugh, "Right." Oh Jesus! My heart hurts so much... I seem to have thrown cash into the washing machine!' thought Kamryn with one hand covering her heart. To calm herself down, she took a deep breath, asking again,
"Well... can you tell me how much is that shirt?" Slightly surprised, Charlie asked back, "Why?"
"I'm just... a little bit curious... Tell me, please!" After another deep breath, Kamryn continued firmly, "Come on, I can bear it!" Charlie raised his eyebrows, still unable to know why she asked that question. He told her directly, "It's free."
"What?!" "Those clothes are all not for sale. No price." 'So they are like private collections that money cannot buy?' Kamryn turned speechless to utter a word.
Abruptly at this moment, she felt as if her heart had been pierced by an arrow. Her heart hurt so much! She thought that she was such a spendthrift! So many expensive clothes, she stuffed them into the washing machine, and they were all broken due to the stirring up and down.
Sitting on the bed dejectedly, Kamryn looked like a withered cabbage covered with frost, full of spiritedness. Only after a long period of time did she learn that she was not the spendthrift, but Charlie is...
Almost all of his clothes could not be washed in water, so most of them would only be worn once, and a small number that could be worn repeatedly had to be sent to a professional laundry shop to wash. The price of washing once was enough for ordinary people to buy a luxury good.
