Chapter 13: Maybe I Was Wrong
Chapter 13: Maybe I Was Wrong
"Rex?!"
I try to move myself out of Cindy's comforter cocoon. I kick my feet and manage to get loose. I tip toe
over to the window and slowly slide it open.
"Rex! What the hell are you doing here?! How are you even here?!"
He points to Stella and they grab my arms pulling me through the window.
"It's okay little one, we've got you." Stella whispers as she replaces my wet shivering arms with her
sweatshirt. It's cold and pouring down rain, couldn't they wait for a clear night? I shiver in Stella's arms
as she brings me to her car.
"Why on earth did you go with Cindy and leave your mommy Landon?"
Stella looks at me through the review mirror as she drives, for about 40 minutes I leaned my head
against the window listening to the heavy rain hit the car, I must've dosed off somewhere along the
lines because we were way out of town.
"I..she kicked me out.. She-" Before I finish my sentence I look up and notice someone in the
passenger seat. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Kaylee?!" She turns around and gives me a half hearted smile.
"Hi Landon, um look.. I know you hate me and all.." She mumbles some more things before turning
back around. "Anyway, What I've done was wrong, not fair at all, I can't keep putting you through this, I
was wrong to kick you out but Cindy had no damn right to take you.. I guess what I'm trying to say is.."
The car breaks, leaving a trail of screehes behind.
Stella unbuckles herself and turns around. "What Kaylee is trying to say is that she wants you to be
happy, she loves you and she doesn't want you to feel forced to be with her, she wants someone who
WANTS to be her baby you know?"
I look up in disbelief. "S-so I'm free?" Kaylee nodds and Rex hugs me tight.
"We've already talked to Mason and had him pack the rest of your stuff, you're in building B, room 528,
good luck Landon."
I sat frozen, I was shocked. I'm at college? Mason's okay? Kaylees letting me go? Wait I'm really at
college? I look out the window and see the huge university tower over me.
"Please keep in touch little one, I mean Landon." Stella smiles and kisses my head letting me out of the
car. I stand in the middle of the road as I watch the car pull away.
I'm here. I finally am here. I made it. I smile to myself and begin to walk up the path to my new building,
new room and new life.
After coming to my room I open it up and it's empty. "Hmm no roomate?" I walk in and see my bags
and boxes. "I'll just unpack tomorrow, I'm exhausted." I smile to myself and push my boxes to the floor
when one spills out, scattering all over."Dammit!" I start picking up some clothes and books and throw it
back in the box. "Mason couldn't finish taping up the boxes I see." I sigh to myself and pick up a
blanket when something rolls out of it.
"Teddy?" I pick up my only friend I had at Kaylee's and scratch my head. "How did you get in that box
huh?" I smile and look around, double checking I'm alone and hug him tight.
After finishing up I lay teddy next to me in bed and cuddle him. I feel cold and alone. I hate thunder, I'm
scared shitless. I had teddy but he can't come to life and keep me safe, he's not Ted, he can't sing the
fuck you thunder song with me, how could he protect me through this storm?
"Hey! There you are! I heard you'd be my new roomate!"
I jump up and see my friend Ethan from high school standing in the door way, obviously drunk. He
walks in and grabs teddy.
"What's this? A bear? A teddy bear from mommy? Is someone scared of the rain?" He slurs and
laughs. I lean up and try to reach for him. "I'm just playing man chill out!" He laughs and stumbles back
to the door. "I'm crashing with my boy across the hall, see ya later!" He slams the door and I lay back
down clutching teddy.
"Don't worry teddy, I've got you." I shake with Teddy in my arms as another loud crash of thunder hits. I
close my eyes as Ethans words ring in my head.
"A teddy bear from mommy?"
Mommy
I open my eyes and set teddy on my lap.+
"I think I just made the biggest mistake."
