Chapter 63
Chapter 63
“Only cleaning toilets?” Yoel was surprised. If this were in the past, they would have had their bonus deducted.
Joshua could not help but feel annoyed when he heard the word ‘toilets‘ as it reminded him of Cynthia asking him to dine in the bathroom.
“Do you want to clean the toilets too?” Joshua asked.
“It’s probably better to leave this glorious task to the department managers,” Yoel smiled and declined.
The rest of the team was shocked.
How could it be glorious?
Joshua’s mind was occupied with Cynthia’s act, and he did not want to talk to them any longer, so he told them to leave.
“Mr. Neal, are you having lunch now, or are you going to wait for dinner? The lunch we ordered is still fresh, and if you need it, I can get it now,” Yoel asked after everyone had left.
Joshua glanced at him. “You’re in charge of cleaning the toilets on this floor for the next two months.”
“Mr. Neal….”
“Two months.” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, Mr. Neal…” Yoel did not dare argue.
He returned to his office, still confused about why Joshua suddenly had a thing for cleaning toilets. He wanted to vent to his buddy, so he sent a message on WhatsApp, saying, [Our president has gone crazy. He suddenly has a thing for cleaning toilets. However, he’s not deducting bonuses or salaries, just making us all clean toilets. I’ve been affected too.]
Off–Duty Worker replied, [You’re getting paid as a personal assistant, but doing the work of a janitor. You shouldn’t be ungrateful.]
Yoel replied, [When will your president come back from vacation? It’s been two years, and he still has not returned to work. Isn’t he afraid of the company going bankrupt?”
Off–Duty Worker replied, [Even if your Neal Group goes bankrupt, our company won’t.]
Yoel promptly closed WhatsApp and refused to chat further with him.
He could not figure it out.
What kind of person was his president? He took two years off and even gave this guy a vacation. Not only that, but he continued to pay him a salary and bonuses.
When asked who his president was, he refused to answer and said it was classified.
At that moment, the brilliant manager in Yoel’s mind was at home learning about the projects of the Neal Group and the Yates. Group. Then, halfway through her research, a phone call came in.
Seeing that it was her personal assistant calling, Cynthia answered and put it on speaker. The voice on the other end immediately said, “Ms. Yates, when are you returning from your vacation?”
“What’s the matter?” Cynthia asked.
“You’ve been on vacation for two years,” the voice on the other end said.
“As the company’s president, you should care about the company.”
Cynthia remained quiet.
“If you keep playing around like this, I’ll have to run the company.”
“That’s a good idea,” Cynthia replied.
“Ms. Yates, please take this seriously,” the voice on the other end said, cool and slightly stern.
Cynthia answered, checking her calendar, “I understand. I’ll be back in two weeks. I’ve asked for an investment advisor position at Yates Group, so you may need to work a bit harder on the company side.”
“You only need to come back to work and sign some documents occasionally I’ll take care of the rest,” the calm voice came through as if there was no emotion.
Cynthia also felt reassured. “Okay.”
After that, they ended the call.
Joshua and Cynthia did not contact each other for the next two days. Regardless of whether it was Joshua or Cynthia, they both decided not to have any contact with each other before they received their divorce certificate.
However, things did not go as planned. Cynthia and Joshua unexpectedly met each other because of an accident.
It was Saturday night, and Cynthia went out to buy something. Since it was just a short distance away, she walked. However, when she passed through an alleyway, she was stopped by a dozen men holding baseball bats.
Cynthia scanned her surroundings and the men one by one, and finally, her gaze settled on a shadow holding a phone toward her in the depths of the alleyway.
In almost an instant, she understood. These people had made preparations, and if they beat her up in this surveillance–less alleyway, she would be in trouble.
