Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife

Chapter 40: It Was Only Blame

Chapter 40: It Was Only Blame

Diana nodded in sorrow, “Mr. Gibson, I’ll go touch up.”

Harper agreed. A gorgeous lady should take care of her look at all times.

“Go on, there is something I need to report to Mr. Powell.”

Diana gave a thankful smile.

Harper watched Diana’s back, he thought for a while and walked towards Brooklyn’s office.

He knocked on the door lightly and entered the office after hearing a reply from his boss.

“Mr. Powell, your itineraries are well arranged.” Harper handed the schedules to the man behind the desk politely.

A long arm reached for the documents, swept a glance and put it aside.

Brooklyn then looked at Harper and frowned, “Anything else?”

Harper hesitated for a few minutes and told Brooklyn what he heard.

“Mr. Powell, I think Madame Powell gave Ms. Miller some hard times.”

Harper saw Brooklyn’s handsome face stiffened, he couldn’t help but swallowed his saliva.

Despite knowing that they were not closed but they were mother and son, but he was explaining on behalf of Ms. Miller, it sounded like he was trying to intersperse their relationship.

Brooklyn’s sights turned dark, he went into deep thoughts.

He then looked up and stared at Harper sharply.

“Why did she call Anna? Why didn’t I know?”

He said emotionlessly.

A woman that had never cared about him now wanted to intervene when a female appeared beside him? Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

Brooklyn smiled mockingly.

As far as he could remember, his mother rarely contacted him.

That woman would not even call him if it wasn’t necessary.

The last conversation they had was her urging him to marry Mirabelle as soon as possible.

It was obvious that Brooklyn despised Madame Powell, a few seconds later, he started to tap his fingers on the side of the desk. “When did she meet Anna? Anna told you?”

Harper nodded and explained what happened in the morning to him.

“Ms. Miller arrived slightly earlier than the punching time, so we chat for a little. She thought you were the one telling Madame Powell and had Madame invited her over to her home and humiliated her, she also said…”

Harper stopped for a while and didn’t dare to utter the word “seduce”.

“What did she want?” Brooklyn asked.

Harper took a deep breath, shut his eyes and said loudly, “Madame Powell said Ms. Miller wants to seduce you…”

Brooklyn remained silent for a few second and suddenly a smile appeared on his face.

Seduce?

Anna seduced him?

Judging by the way she kissed, not to mention seduce, that could even be her first kiss.

She was a woman who pretended to be mature but completely naïve inside.

Brooklyn closed his smiley lips tight, and the memory of Anna’s angry face, when she forced kissing him but turned out kissed by him, appeared in his mind.

Her reddened cheeks and ears, like a mouthwatering peach.

She had a pair of huge, bright and watery eyes.

While the lips with thick red lipsticks…

Most of the colors on her lips were eaten by him and revealed the original color of her lips.

It was seductive enough to make one want to kiss her again.

Brooklyn’s sights turned deeper.

Harper was astonished, what happened to Mr. Powell, why was he smiling?

Had Ms. Miller attempted to seduce him?

Well then Ms. Miller was a woman with courage, he had a feeling that she was a scary woman when he first saw her during the recruitment session. Even Ms. Moss was afraid to flirt with Mr. Powell the way Ms. Miller flirted with him. She flirted with him like he was a kitten.

“What else did she say?”

Harper replied, “Ms. Miller didn’t say much, but she was sobbing… sigh, Ms. Miller is talented, Madame Powell must have misunderstood. Someone who looks like Ms. Miller…”

He stopped suddenly.

“Why didn’t you continue?”

Harper moved his lips, how should he mention the way Ms. Miller describe herself full of herself?

Harper put his hand on his forehead, “Mr. Powell, the following was Ms. Miller’s own words.”

Brooklyn’s smile widened.

He was curious what had Anna said that made Harper embarrassed.

Harper said, “Anna said she is born gorgeous and easily attracts jealousy from same-sex.”

Brooklyn silent for few seconds and burst out laughing.

“It is something she would say.” Brooklyn knocked on the desk lightly and leaned against the chair. He raised his eyebrow, “Alright, I got it, you can go out now.”

Harper nodded.

After Harper left the room, Brooklyn stayed on the chair and thought about “I am gorgeous”, and smile happily.

He had never encountered a woman who dared to compliment herself so directly.

On top of that, she was indeed gorgeous.

A few minutes later, Brooklyn reached for his mobile and dialed Madame Powell’s number. He rarely called.

The call was answered almost immediately.

A familiar voice was heard.

Brooklyn frowned and gave a despised look, “This will be the last time I say, do not intervene between me and Anna anymore, if you ever bring my staff over to be humiliated again, I shall show no mercy.”

Madame Powell was astounded, her hands were trembling. “Brooklyn Powell! You are my son, can’t I intervene with your matters? You are someone with a fiancée, and shouldn’t let someone like her work in your office! It will hurt Mirabelle!”

Madame Powell thought Brooklyn called to explain, she never expected that it was only to blame.

She was infuriated and almost smashed the mobile.

Brooklyn’s face turned cold after hearing her.

“Don’t get overboard. You arranged for Mirabelle to move into my villa, I didn’t object. But if she ever intervenes in the management of Powell Group again in the future, I will kick her out of my life forever. And fiancée? It’s my decision whom I want to marry, not yours.”

Madame Powell’s lips were trembling, “You… you! Listen, Brooklyn Powell, Mirabelle saved your life six years ago! If there’s a tiny bit of humanity left in you, you should marry her instead of protecting Anna!”
