Chapter 181 The Apple of the Director’s Eye
Chapter 181 The Apple of the Director’s Eye
“That… Just now that was…”
Biana realized then that there was still much she didn’t know. That woman from just now—to say what
she’d said… could she really not know Andrew was already married? And her tone, it had been so
knowing… as if she and Andrew were quite familiar indeed.
“That was Emily, the Director’s little princess. She’s the one I was talking about before, about showing
love and tenderness toward women.”
“His little princess?” Bianca was floored. What on earth? Could these people truly not know that
Andrew and Sarah were married?
Emily was already fading into the distance, and the female employee dragged Bianca into the elevator.
“You’re new, so you don’t know. At this company, we’ve got a saying: don’t upset the Director, and
absolutely do not mess with his beloved Emily. He dotes on her beyond belief.”
“Really?” Bianca quirked a brow. What about Sarah? She was his wife… did that make Emily his
mistress?
Thinking about it now, it did seem normal. A man like Andrew Bask, standing at the very top of society,
perfect in every way… of course women would want him. And what man like that would consent to
being with only one woman?
Moreover, Emily was lovely in every way—her figure, her features, her bearing. She too was a class
above. Just now she’d sounded like a teacher… a person of such caliber surely was everyone’s dream
girl.
“Mr. Bask really likes her?”
“Of course. To him she is above reproach in every respect. She could do anything she wants here,
anything at all, and get away with it. All of us see how he pampers her.”
“Does he intend to marry her, then?” asked Bianca innocently. She wanted to figure out exactly how
many people knew he was already married.
“Obviously, it’s only a matter of time. I just hope I’m invited to the wedding.”
Stepping out of the elevator, Bianca parted ways with her, going her own way to find a corner she could
stand in to process all this. She’d never anticipated a man like Andrew, so staid and loyal, would have a
mistress!
All those days, he’d hidden this from her so well. She’d thought there no chink in his armor!
To have a wife at home, then find another woman elsewhere when he grew sick of her… then, growing
sick of the other, to return to the one at home. It seemed Andrew had been living like a king!
But did Sarah know?
Bianca wanted badly to go to Andrew’s office and have a look. Just thinking of him, her heart beat
faster. Although his having a mistress was, in a word, suboptimal, it was just like her father. He’d had
many women, of whom she and her sister had known, but he’d never brought them home. It was like
keeping one eye open and the other closed.
Had anything… happened between them in his office? The possibility strengthened her resolve to go
and see, but what could she possibly use as an excuse?
She was getting more and more worked up…
…
The company was quite near their new home.
“This is his, that one’s yours, go on and take them.”
Sandy accepted them with both hands, though internally he hesitated. To have the same lunch as his
box, even the same lunchbox—was that not a bit presumptuous?
“Remember to eat it before it gets cold.”
Sarah smiled at him. Most of the things from the old place had been moved over already, so she’d
decided to cook.
“Little secretary, go on them, be careful not to keep the director starving.”
Anne blinked at Sandy, then smiled. She’d intentionally selected the lunchbox, even made sure that the
food inside was exactly the same, even the portion sizes. At first Sarah had told her not to, but had
been won over in the end.
She wanted to know what Andrew would think of it.
“Ah, that’s right, ma’am. The director wanted me to tell you something,” Sandy added before leaving.
Sarah tilted her head. “What is it?”
Sandy flushed. “He said he’d wanted to get his lunch himself, but was afraid that if he saw you, he
wouldn’t want to go back to work. He said he’s missed you all morning, and you should call him every
other hour. Only than will he be reassured enough to get back to work.”
Sarah blushed furiously. How could he have such a messaged passed on in front of so many people?
She felt like her face was on fire.
Of course Anne was there too, listening intently. “So even somebody like Andrew Bask says mushy
stuff like that? To abandon your dignity just for lunch…”
Sandy didn’t know what to say, and neither did Sarah, so Anne went on, “Forget it, he seems sincere.
And it seems he particularly stressed the every other hour bit. Don’t forget to call him.”
“Okay, okay, I know, now go.”
Sarah shut the door quickly, and Anne said, “You’re beet-red! How has Andrew changed so fast?”
Anne’s teasing only made Sarah blush harder. “How should I know? He does what he wants when he
wants.”
Anne nodded. “He’s a man, after all.”
But not long afterwards, something unexpected happened. “Anne, my head hurts suddenly.” Sarah
clutched at her aching skull as cold sweat broke out all over her body. She slipped unwillingly into
darkness, her senses dimming.
“Sarah,” exclaimed Anne, “what’s the matter?” Thinking of what Andrew had told her, she rushed to the
bedroom, grabbed the medicine, and fetched it back to Sarah. “Here, take this. Open your mouth, close
your eyes.”
Sarah did as told, and after a while Anne asked anxiously, “How do you feel?”
Sarah did, in fact, feel better. Depressants worked quickly, their effects evident soon after ingestion.
“Better.” She opened her eyes slowly, said softly, “I’m all right, don’t worry about me.” Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Tears welled up in Anne’s eyes. “Just now, I was so afraid… I thought you…” Just that morning Andrew
had told her Sarah was having issues with her head.
But Sarah just smiled. “I’m fine, see?”
