Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife

Chapter 111

Chapter 111

Chapter 111 Giving Up Means Not Caring Anymore

Since Nancy couldn’t avoid him, she walked over to him and said, “I came out for some fresh air.”

“What about your phone? Why is it turned off?” Nicholas glanced at the phone she was holding.

Nancy bit her lip before responding curtly, “Maybe it ran out of battery and turned off by itself.”

She had no idea that Nicholas had almost searched the entire city looking for her.

He didn’t bring up the laborious process,

He simply came over and took her hand.

Since he was here, Nancy knew she couldn’t escape.

She allowed him to hold her hand without protest and followed him to his car.

Along the way, the wind howled as if signifying an impending storm. The trees by the side of the road were shaking in the wind.

Nancy stared out the window without speaking.

However, when the car turned left at the traffic light, she sensed something amiss. “Aren’t we heading back?”

“I’m taking you out for a meal,” Nicholas said.

“Oh,” she acknowledged.

Her expression remained indifferent. She didn’t express any opinion.

When the car stopped outside the restaurant, the thunderstorm had begun, and huge droplets of rain crashed against the car.

There was no basement parking lot, so they had to enter the restaurant from the outside.

Nancy was about to get out of the car when Nicholas said, “Wait.”

Then, he got down with an umbrella and opened it before taking Nancy’s hand. “Let’s go.”

“Thank you,” Nancy said, though her gaze remained indifferent.

She was no longer the naive little girl she used to be.

It had been a long time since the taste of a candy could last her an entire summer.

Perhaps Nancy had experienced too much hurt, or maybe the bitterness was too deeply embedded in her heart. She realized such sweetness no longer did anything to assuage her pain.

Her heart was cold and writhing in agony at the same time.

They came to the second floor of the restaurant, where there was a VIP room that was exquisitely. designed.

The room was serene and filled with a faint floral aroma. One could see the garden through the window. The sound of the rain could be heard as well.

As soon as they walked into the room, the restaurant manager came over and asked respectfully. “Do you want the food to be served now, Mr. Sallow?”

“Are you hungry?” Nicholas asked Nancy.

“I’m fine either way. You decide.” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Nicholas turned to the manager. “Alright. Serve the food now.”

Soon, the table was filled with expertly prepared food that smelled wonderful.

Just then, Nancy heard a familiar melody coming from the hall on the second floor. It was a piano. piece and one of her favorites.

Nancy wasn’t a fool. She instantly realized what was happening.

He must have arranged everything in advance.

Just then, the lights in the room went out.

Nancy thought it was a power failure, but at the very next second, a beautifully decorated cake was brought in. Nicholas was holding a bunch of roses as he gazed at her tenderly. “Happy birthday, sweetie!”

She should not be moved by this, but for some reason, her heart melted into a puddle.

“You….” Her trembling voice betrayed her emotions.

“You remembered?” She couldn’t stop her voice from shaking.

“Of course. I’ve always remembered it. I prepared all of this a long time ago,” Nicholas said.

He did celebrate her birthday throughout their two years of marriage, but it had always been. perfunctory. Lynn was the one who chose the cake and the presents for her.

However, this time, he was celebrating her birthday himself.

Alas, the touching display and the joy she felt from it came too late.

It was too late. She was too afraid to expect anything from him anymore.

Even as Nicholas set down a necklace and a pair of earrings in front of her, she remained

unusually calm.

“Ill help you put them on,” he said.

Nancy didn’t respond one way or the other.

Even so, Nicholas fussed over her like the perfect gentleman.

Nancy thought to herself, If it hadn’t been for that call, I might not have held out until the end. I would’ve given in.

Such was the unpredictability of life. There was no way of knowing what would happen next.

When all the food had been brought in, and the two were about to eat, Nicholas got a call.

Nancy didn’t stop what she was doing. She continued to take small bites.

The food was delicious, but her attention was elsewhere.

In fact, the food tasted like cardboard to her.

Nicholas got a call from Madelline.

Though Nancy didn’t know the other woman’s words, Nicholas was frowning hard.

His lips were pursed, and his demeanor grew chilly. Even without saying a word, he seemed so frightening.

In the end, the call ended.

Nicholas looked at Nancy with a conflicted expression.

After hesitating briefly, he was about to speak when Nancy beat him to it. “Madelline, right? Let me guess. Did she run into some kind of danger again? You’re the only one who can save her.”

“Yes.” Nicholas nodded truthfully.

After hearing his answer, Nancy set her cutlery down.

She looked up and chuckled mockingly. “I knew it. Even though our dear Ms. Phillip isn’t tired of using this trick, I’m tired of seeing it. Can’t she come up with something new?”

“It’s not the same this time, Nancy.”

“You always say it’s not the same. When we got married, she got in a car accident. Before this, she was about to take her own life. What is it this time? Did she get kidnapped?”

“Madelline did get kidnapped,” Nicholas replied solemnly as he looked at Nancy.

“Hah…” Nancy scoffed. She tucked her hair behind her ear and said, “What an adventurous life she

has. All the worst things in life seem to happen to her. Nicholas, have you ever considered that maybe none of it is real?”

“Every single incident was simply an act of hers. She didn’t get into a car accident. She wouldn’t have killed herself. She didn’t get kidnapped. She simply wants you to cast me aside and save her.

“This is a serious matter. I don’t want to jump to conclusions.” Nicholas said grimly.

“If I’m not mistaken, no matter what happens tonight, you’ll choose to go and save her anyway. In that case, go right ahead, Nicholas.”

“What?” Nicholas looked up in disbelief.

The last few times he left to save Madelline, Nancy would always protest vehemently.

And yet, this time, she was telling him to go without a fight.

As Nicholas looked into Nancy’s still eyes, he could sense that something was different, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

However, he was certain about one thing-Nancy was being too calm and generous today.

“What’s the matter? You don’t believe that I’ll let you go?”

Nancy opened the door herself. “Go on. No matter what happens, I won’t stop you.”

“I always thought you were the one in the wrong, but that’s not true. I’m the one who’s wrong. So, Nicholas, I won’t stop you. Hurry up and go.”
