My Darling, My Dearest

Chapter 404 I Have A Request

Chapter 404 I Have A Request

"What about the second one?" Rachel pursed her lips and looked down at her toes, but her ears were anxiously listening to Jack.

Jack said, "If you don't go back with me now, I will find out whether that child is mine or not in my own way. And if I confirm that it is my child, I will do everything to take it back. Rachel, you know me. And you also know that you can't win against me in this aspect."

Jack was aware that if he didn't force her, she might not give him any chance at all.

And since he had given her two options, she must know which one was best for her and her baby.

After being silent for a few minutes later, Rachel sneered, "Jack, I never thought that you could be this shameless."

For Jack, it didn't matter. As long as he could get her back, he wouldn't hesitate to use even dirty methods.

Rachel raised her head and glared at him. She then said through clenched teeth, "I have no other choice but to go back with you. But I have a request. I don't want your parents to know." She wasn't ready to face them yet.

"Okay," Jack replied in a low voice.

Rachel was already in Ninwell City, but she still felt that everything was just a dream.

However, when she looked around the strange living room, she realized that everything was real.

Jack brought her to a two-story villa. She had always known that Jack had a lot of properties, but she didn't expect that he would bring her to a new house to live. Was he trying to avoid that she remembered the bad memories in the past?

He was indeed a smart man.

Jack put down the suitcase in his hand and looked at Rachel. His eyes were deep and warm, but she pretended not to notice it. Instead, she asked in a plain voice, "Where is my room?"

Anyone would understand what she was trying to imply. She wouldn't share a room with him.

It seemed that he had already anticipated this, so he pointed at the right side of the second floor and said, "I've prepared everything inside your room. Let's have dinner first, then I'll take you there so you can check if you need something more."

He reached out to hold her hand as he spoke, but his fingertips only slid across her clothes. Rachel said, "I can walk by myself. From now on, I hope you avoid touching or holding me if it's not necessary."

The maid was busy preparing dinner in the dining room. When she saw them coming in, she came over and said with a smile, "Miss, I cooked some noodles for you."

"Thank you," Rachel answered with a smile. As long as she didn't face Jack, she could easily smile in front of others.

With a bitter smile, Jack forced himself to cheer up and introduced the maid to Rachel, "Rachel, this is Julie. She is here to take care of you when I'm not here. You can call her if you need anything. Will that be okay for you?"

Rachel did not respond.

She just walked to the cupboard and took a pair of chopsticks, returned to the table, and sat down. As soon as she finished eating the bowl of noodles, she sincerely praised the maid. "Julie, you are good at cooking."

She deliberately ignored Jack as if he didn't exist there.

Jack came to visit Henry and Lea at their home. Lea was shocked upon hearing the news. "Rachel is pregnant?"

"Yes." Jack smiled bitterly. "She is now back in the city. We live together, but she completely ignores me. She doesn't even say a word to me. He had no other choice. Lea was Rachel's best friend, so he thought that she was the only person who could help him.

Lea thought for a while before she asked, "Do you want me to talk to her? Do you want me to help you reconcile with her?"

It would be best if Lea could help them get back together. But he knew that it was impossible.

After all, Lea knew the reason why Rachel left him. And since they were best friends, Lea would definitely take Rachel's side.

But with a little hope in his heart, he replied with a sigh, "It's up to you." Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Lea answered, "My only concern is Rachel's health. As for other things, I won't say a word. I will respect whatever decision she makes." She then excused herself and went back to the bedroom where Rita had been waiting.

Jack held the teacup in his hands tight. He looked embarrassed and disappointed at the same time.

He finally understood how it was to take one wrong step and lose everything.

Henry came out of the study just in time to see the expression on Jack's face. He patted Jack on the shoulder and said, "Cheer up. Don't be depressed. That's not who you are." "Then what kind of person am I?" For the first time in his life, Jack felt so frustrated and incompetent.

Henry thought about it and chuckled. "Conceited?"

But upon seeing that Jack's face suddenly darkened, he coughed and stopped joking. He said seriously, "You should not give up so easily. Believe me, Rachel will learn to let go of the past and open her heart for you again one of these days."

Jack didn't say anything, but his deep-set black eyes revealed his emotions at the moment.

Henry added, "After all, no one wants to live with an insane person all the time."

Jack pushed his shoulder slightly and asked, "What did you say?"

"I know you heard me well."

"You bastard!"

Thanks to Henry, Jack's mood was much better now.

From the slightly ajar door of the bedroom, Lea could be seen restlessly lying on the bed. After a while, she stood up and took a deep breath.

When she heard that Jack and Rachel were going to get married again, she was so happy. After all the ups and downs that the couple had gone through, they deserved to have a happy ending.

But who would have thought that such a tragedy would happen on the day of their wedding?

If she hadn't witnessed with her own eyes and heard it with her own ears, she wouldn't have believed it.

Rita raised her head and looked at Lea with her curious round eyes. The child also overheard Jack and Henry's conversation, so she asked, "Mom, Dad just said someone is insane. Who is he referring to?"

"Oh sweetheart, you're here."

It was only then that Lea noticed her daughter standing beside her.

She crouched and poked Rita's forehead, pretending to be angry.

"Didn't I tell you that it's bad to eavesdrop when adults are talking?"

Rita shrugged her shoulders and grinned. "I just learned it from you."

Lea was rendered speechless. Eventually, all she could do was hold Rita in her arms dotingly. Patting the child's buttock, she complained, "You are so naughty!"

But an idea suddenly occurred to her, so she whispered something in Rita's ear. After chatting with Henry for a while, Jack suddenly remembered Rachel at home. Worried about her, he stood up and bade goodbye to Henry.

But all of a sudden, Rita ran out of the room and waved at him. With an innocent smile on her face, she said, "Uncle Insane, welcome to our house again."

Jack and Henry were both shocked after hearing what Rita said.

Lea was standing at the door, covering her stomach with her hands while laughing.

The two men immediately understood who had taught Rita to call Jack such a name.

Jack beckoned to Rita to come over, planning to take small revenge on Lea. But when his eyes met hers, the way Lea stared at him seemed like saying, "Be careful or else, I won't help you."

With a sigh, he smiled helplessly and patted Rita's head. He then said, "It sounds so good."

As a child, Rita couldn't tell that Jack was joking. Tilting her head, she asked innocently, "Uncle, do you really think so? Then I will call you Uncle Insane from now on, okay?"

"Only in this house, sweetie."

Jack was not a narrow-minded person. He knew that the child didn't really mean it. Lea just used her to play a joke on him, so it was not a big deal for him.

Rachel woke up the same time as usual. But upon realizing that she didn't need to go to school anymore, she stayed lying in bed and continued to rest.

She wasn't able to resign from work formally. But when she finished writing her resignation letter and was about to go back to school to submit it, Jack told her that he had already taken care of everything.

Although she was curious about how he did it, she didn't dare to ask him.

She had been lying in bed for quite a while now when Julie knocked on the door and said, "Miss, I cooked some bird's nest soup for you. Would you like me to bring it to your room?"

Without getting up from the bed, she answered, "I'm not hungry yet. I'll just go down later."

Julie had been cooking different kinds of healthy food for her since she came back to help her recuperate. If before she had three meals a day, now she had five meals.

Her belly got bigger and bigger day by day.

For Jack, peeping through Rachel's bedroom door had been his daily habit. Before he went to work and after he arrived home, he would open her door slightly and peep.

Although he couldn't see her clearly, he was satisfied, especially that Rachel didn't object.

He did the same thing today.

Rachel was still in bed when she heard the door cracked. Knowing that it was Jack, a strange emotion rose from her heart.

In the past two days, Jack had been treating her like a queen. Although he didn't personally come to her, she knew that he gave all the instructions to Julie. Rachel didn't say anything, but she couldn't deny the fact that she was getting affected. She was touched by all his gestures.

But what about her parents?

Every time she thought of them, there was a pain in her heart. Mixed emotions overwhelmed her. Hiding in the quilt, she couldn't help but sob in a low voice. Her shoulders were trembling slightly.

Jack silently stood in front of her door for a long time. Finally, he closed the door and left.
