Chapter 1596: Clinging
Chapter 1596: Clinging
While handling the documents Kian brought, Ayan responded, "I don't plan to withdraw this project anymore. Since it has already started, we shouldn't just pull out. This would greatly impact the project and cause significant losses to the workers who rely on it for their livelihood. So, rather than doing that, it's better to carry on and do the project well."
"If we continue, wouldn't we be giving Preston an advantage? Won't he become even more arrogant?" Kian was somewhat opposed to the idea. If Preston really benefited from this project, he might become uncontrollable.
This would give Preston too much leverage, which was not in line with their initial plan.
What Kian thought of, how could Ayan not have considered?
Ayan smiled faintly and asked Kian, "If you got a project, and it was your company's first project, would it be more painful for you if the project disappeared or if you disappeared from the project?" Ayan's words left Kian speechless.
Kian stared at Ayan with wide eyes, a bit confused. He seemed to ponder Ayan's last sentence and then asked incredulously, "You mean..."
"So, do you understand what I mean?" Ayan interrupted Kian, smiling. "Sometimes seeing something about to succeed but then fail is far more painful than having that thing completely destroyed. Personal failure is more distressing than overall failure."
He was unwilling to sacrifice too many people for someone like Preston, especially for a good project that would be a pity to lose. Preston shouldn't have such a big influence.
Thinking this way, Ayan naturally acted accordingly, involving Horace and Jenson as the best plan.
With Ayan's guidance, Kian immediately understood his intention and felt that his idol had risen even higher in his heart.
Of course, Ayan didn't know about Kian's inner thoughts. Seeing Kian's admiring gaze, he asked, "Mr. Simpson, when should we start this project?"
Ayan took a document from the drawer and handed it to Kian. "Give this to Jenson."
Kian took the document and glanced at it. The content was a long-held project by Ayan that had not yet been announced publicly. However, Kian, being close to Ayan, knew that this was originally planned as a top-tier project for Simpson Group next quarter.
So when Kian saw it, he was somewhat surprised. "Mr. Simpson, wouldn't this project be too much of a waste?"
"Wind Construction Company is ours. Armstrong Corp will also benefit in the future, so why consider it a waste?"
Wind Construction Company was currently managed by Jenson, but Jenson was one of their own. Any benefits would ultimately belong to them.
Kian understood and quickly took the document to find Jenson.
After Kian left, Ayan finished all the contracts and then picked up his phone to send Camille a message.
He asked, "What are you doing?"
Camille was naturally at the company. Sienna was coming back today; originally planned for a few days later but now arriving earlier due to some incident. The flight would land in Hance City around 8 PM, and Sienna said she wanted to have dinner at Camille and Ayan's home. Camille had just told the housekeeper to delay dinner and prepare a few extra dishes.
She had just put down her phone when she saw Ayan's message.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
She called Ayan directly and asked when he answered, "Are you busy?"
Ayan: "Just finished."
Camille quickly told Ayan about Sienna and Rex returning and reminded him, "They're coming over for dinner. Can you leave work early?" Ayan agreed and then asked, "Do you want to wait for me? I can come over from the office and pick you up so we can go home together." Camille agreed.
So she waited for Ayan to finish work and come to pick her up.
Seeing Camille in a good mood, Yessica couldn't help but ask, "Cami, you seem very happy!"
Camille: "Not just seem happy; I am really happy. Let me tell you, your sister Sienna is coming back and bringing us lots of gifts!"
Yessica's eyes sparkled. "Really? Are they delicious?"
"Why is food all you think about?" Camille teased.
Yessica blinked. "I don't know when I'll get to travel again, so of course I'm thinking about food from all over the world!"
Camille laughed and said, "You can go when you and Kian get married and take wedding photos."
Yessica blushed and covered her face. "That's so embarrassing."
Though she said it was embarrassing, she was actually delighted inside.
But the proposal had to come from Kian; she didn't want to take the initiative.
Camille asked, "Do you have any plans with Kian tonight?"
Yessica thought there might be work arrangements and quickly shook her head. "No plans. If he doesn't have work with Mr. Simpson, we'll just
have dinner and watch at
home. You know, we're no longer in the honeymoon phase; it feels more like an old married couple
Camille laughed. "Old married couples don't cling to each other every day like you do."
"Who clings? I'm very independent!" Yessica said confidently, raising her hand as if making an oath.
Camille didn't expose her lie but smiled. "I believe you."
Yessica pouted; clearly, Camille didn't believe her.
Camille stopped teasing her and said, "If you have no plans tonight, come over for dinner with Kian. We haven't gathered in a while."
Yessica happily agreed because she
never dared to suggest going to
Camille's house due to Ayan's imposing presence. In reality, after one meal there, she always looked forward to the next because the chef's cooking was even better than five-star hotel cuisine.
At the end of the workday, Ayan came to pick Camille up.
He drove himself there so that Kian could pick up Yessica later after finishing his work.
When they got home, they prepared
briefly. Seeing there was still time,
Camille pulled Ayan into the baking room to make a cake as a warm welcome for Sienna and Rex.
Ayan knew nothing about baking and was completely clumsy at it. Even though he was a business mogul outside, he seemed very awkward now.
Watching him struggle with whipping egg whites and cream made Camille smile unconsciously. She asked, "Do you feel it's easier to handle work in the office now?"
Ayan didn't speak but gave Camille a look that clearly said, "Isn't that obvious?"
