My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus)

Chapter 0793

Three hours had passed since they had stabilized Peter. When the nurse stepped out, she searched for the patient's wife.

Maximus, who had been anxiously waiting, immediately pointed to Celeste.

He wanted to see his brother. He needed to talk to him.

But Peter needed to see her first.

Maximus knew that Celeste was the one who truly brought him peace and right now, more than ever, that was exactly what he needed.

Celeste walked into the room, her eyes immediately finding Peter.

At first, his gaze was distant, unfocused. But the second he noticed her, there was a flicker of recognition. "Celeste...!" he said in surprise. "You're still here..."

Celeste crossed her arms. "Where else would I be, Peter? How could I leave when you're in the hospital?"

Peter blinked. "I thought that..." He trailed off.

"What?" she asked, her voice steady, but her eyes filled with curiosity.

Peter hesitated, then shook his head. "Nothing... I'm just... really happy to see you here." He smiled faintly.

Celeste took a step closer. "When were you planning to tell me what's been happening to you?"

Peter met her gaze and immediately knew there was no escaping this conversation.

"How much do you know?" he asked cautiously.

"Maximus told me everything about your health," she said bluntly.

"Maximus is a damn blabbermouth!" Peter muttered.

"And you're a damn idiot!" Celeste snapped. "Why didn't you tell me what was going on?!" "Celeste... I didn't want you to worry!"

"Well, guess what? I'm even more worried now!"

She took another step forward, eyes burning with frustration. "You do realize you need this surgery, right?" Peter looked away, jaw tightening. "Do you know what's going to happen? Do you understand that I could lose everything? I might forget... everything."

"I know." Celeste's voice softened. "But that's not an excuse to risk your life. You don't want to lose your memories... but you're willing to lose your life because of it?"

She reached for his hand.

"*Peter, you're not alone anymore. It's not just you. My children and I-we need you."

Peter's eyes widened. "Celeste... are you serious?"

She squeezed his hand. "I've never been more serious in my life."

"Does this mean... you're giving me another chance?"

Celeste sighed. "Peter, I've given you so many chances, I've lost count."

He let out a dry laugh. "Then... what happens now?"

"Now," Celeste said firmly, "we have work to do. You and I need to rebuild our family. I have no intention of becoming a widow again, Peter. Our children need their father.

"I don't care what you have to do but you will fight for your life.

"And 'no' is not an option."

Peter stared at her, overwhelmed. "Celeste... are you saying you want to be with me again?"

"Peter," she sighed, "in case you forgot, you're already living in my house.noveldrama

"I want to go home. And I don't plan on going back just to live with Spike.

"I need you there.

"So do whatever you have to do, but we're leaving here together. I don't know what the future holds... but

I do know that if we work together, we can fix what's been broken."

She tightened her grip on his hand.

"I can't even begin to imagine what you've been through," she admitted. "And yes, Peter, I'm angry with you."

"Because of everything I did...?" Peter asked, guilt heavy in his voice.

"No."

Celeste took a deep breath. "*I'm angry because you didn't trust me enough to tell me the truth.

"I'm not some fragile woman who doesn't know how to handle life. I've been on my own since I was young -I know how to survive.

"But this?" She exhaled sharply. "This is something I can't do alone.

"I love you, Peter. And yes, you're a complete idiot for keeping this from me. But despite everything-l love you and I refuse to lose you."

Peter couldn't stop the tears from welling in his eyes.

"Celeste..." His voice cracked. "I-I love you, too. You have no idea how much it means to hear you say that..."

"Peter," she said, her voice steady

but gentle. "These past months haven't been easy. But if we work together, we can move forward. If you decide to have this surgery, be here. And if, for some reason, you do lose your memories... then I'll be here to help you make new ones. Just like you took care of me when I was hurt, I will take care of you now."

Celeste cupped his face in her hands. "*Peter Palmer, listen to me. I'm not going to leave you. Our children and I will be here-whether it's for a few hours, a day, a week, or years we will always be here. And this time, you're not alone. Your brother is outside this room-he

hasn't left your side. You are not alone. And you never will be again.*"

Slowly, she leaned forward.

Her lips hovered just above his as she whispered, "Peter... I love you. And I can't keep pretending

otherwise. You are the best thing et

that's happened to me in years. idn't k

didn't know what kind of storm you'd bring into my life when I met you... But now? I need that chaos you

brought with you."

And then she kissed him.

That kiss sealed a promise-a promise of a life together, a life beside their children, a life surrounded by family.

They both had to admit that when they first met, neither of them had been looking for love. Their hearts had been guarded, and a relationship was the last thing they expected. But somehow, it had happened naturally, without complications-until Peter's fears got in the way.

Celeste had to push aside her own doubts and accept that if they worked together to rebuild what they once had, they could not only be a good couple again but also create a loving family for the little ones on the way.
