Chapter 3 Leave It to Chance
Chapter 3 Leave It to Chance
Inside the villa, there was a lot of laughter.
The delicate looking Edith was hugging Peter's arm and pouting, "Dad, just buy me that Maserati,
anyway, we have got the Howard family's 10 million, so we won't worry about money in the future!"
Peter was sitting in his chair reading the newspaper, he turned his head without good grace and glared
at her: ''You still have the nerve to ask for a luxury car? Let you marry into the Howard family and you
don't go, I really don't know what you're thinking? the Howard family is so rich, you can have anything
you want if you marry into it"
Edith was full of disdain: "Dad! Alan is ugly, and I've heard that he has a very eccentric personality. I'm
sick just thinking about it. I don't want to marry him. And I've got that mute Lexie to marry instead."
After a pause, her eyes rolled, put on a wry smile, "If it's that Kevin Stewart, I'm kinda willing, I heard
that that he's a medical doctor in France, handsome and so promising, I quite like this type."
After all, she was pampered and her families could not force her to marry the one she did not like.
Peter sighed, "Kevin is Diana's son, but not the heir to the Howard family, what is he? Besides, Alan is
not easy to fool, if not for Lexie, where would you find a replacement in a short time?"
Edith raised her chin, quite disdainful, "There will be others without her, maybe she is eager to marry
into the Howard family! A mute is lucky to have married into a rich family!"
Peter smiled and did not say anything, only he himself knew clearly that he was the one who forced
Lexie to marry her with her grandma's life-saving money.
But there would be no need for his daughter to worry about any of that.
Although Lexie was also his own daughter, but one grew up spoiled and loved, and the other was a
mute placed in a remote mountain village for many years before being recognized.
What's more, Lexie wasn't like Edith who could fight for the glory of the the Mitchell family.
The father and daughter were talking when the company suddenly called.
Peter's face suddenly changed when he got through: ''What did you say? The money chain transferred
from the Howard family is empty? This can't be!"
Then something was said on the other side of the phone, and his expression grew stony.
Edith was close, and as soon as she heard that the money was gone, her face changed dramatically,
"What should we do, dad?"
Peter frowned and didn't know what came to mind, gritting his teeth in hatred, ''Alan, that bastard! How
dare he trick me? I've married my daughter and he's gone back on his word!"
"That ugly bastard is really annoying!" Edith was quite thankful: "Luckily I didn't marry with him, this
kind of scum goes back on his word, what a shame!"
Then she looked back to her father and asked hesitantly, "Dad, what's our next step?"
Peter calmed down and pondered for a moment, "Since he is unkind, don't blame me for being unjust,
don't forget, Lexie is in his the Howard family."
When Edith took a look at her father's chest, she laughed.
Her father has always been resourceful, Alan only would be under her father’s control!
And at that moment, Lexie was mopping the floor, and Diana was sitting on the sofa drinking tea and
staring at her with a prickly gaze.
"Wipe it clean, being our the Howard family's daughter-in-law should be diligent and thrifty, from now on
you have to clean the room every day. Marry is old now, so she can’t be too tired. You should share
some of the work, we don't want lazy daughters-in-law in the Howard family." Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Diana did not like this mute, and couldn't blatantly kick her out, mainly because she was worried about
affecting the Howard family's reputation, so she wanted to let Lexie know and get out on her own: "Of
course, if you feel aggrieved by yourself, you can leave. Alright, I'm going to go outside for afternoon
tea, so hurry up and get to work, don't be lazy!"
With that, she picked up her bag and headed out the door.
Lexie kept watching Diana out the door before she let out a long sigh of relief.
This Diana was simply too mean, it was really quite tiring to get along with her.
