Chapter 37 Mr. Stanley
Chapter 37 Mr. Stanley
It was only after Lexie left from the study that Alan lifted the cup of tea in his hand and took a sip.
Oolong tea's fragrance was rich, a light creamy aftertaste, and the house's smoky aroma mixed
together, giving a calming effect. Listening to the sound of the door closing next door, Alan actually
went a bit off.
After Lexie took care of Grandma in the hospital for a few days, Grandma recovered well.
This afternoon, Lexie was shopping at the store near the hospital, and when she went out, she saw a
figure in a suit on the roadside bowing slightly towards her, "Miss Mitchell, Mr. Stanley wants to see
you."
The person who came was none other than Mr. Stanley's personal butler, and it was Mr. Stanley who
wanted to see her.
Since Alan took over the Howard Group, Mr. Stanley has retired, and had rarely appeared in J City all
these years. He would only go to a suburban villa in J City for summer vacation every year.
Other than this time, even the people of the Howard family couldn't see him.
When she got into the car, the scenery in the window receded all the way back, and Lexie clutched her
fingers uneasily.
Perhaps seeing Lexie's nervousness, the butler on the passenger seat comforted her, "Miss Mitchell,
don’t be nervous, after all, you're married to Mr. Alan, so you should meet the elders of the family."
Lexie pursed her lips and nodded politely.
At this time, inside the summer resort on the outskirts.
"I haven't seen you for long, Tina, you are a big girl now."
Diana sized up Tina Howard and praised her.
Tina Howard is Alan's cousin and his eldest uncle's only daughter, who has been pampered since
childhood, so she has developed a foul temper, but is very good at pleasing Mr. Stanley.
Tina sat next to Mr. Stanley and said with a smile, "Mrs. Stewart, you look younger."
Diana sighed, "No way, I've grown a lot of gray hair from worry."
"What's wrong?" Tina blinked, "What else could be bothering you, Mrs. Stewart? Let Grandpa know,
and he can help you."
"According to Alan's character and family background, it's impossible for him to marry a mute. If you
knew about this matter in the first place, you surely wouldn't have agreed to it, right?"
On the chair, Mr. Stanley had a beard, a majestic and righteous look, polite but cold, "Alan has his own
idea since he was young, since he made the decision, he naturally has his reasons. The eldest young
lady of the Mitchell family may have a mute disease, but perhaps she has some strengths."
Mr. Stanley had carried out investigation, so he knew that Lexie had a master degree. Although she did
not inherited the family business, she had a decent and stable job, and she was a modest person.
At least it was a famous family's daughter, she was better than those who coveted the Howard family’s
business.
"Strengths?" Diana frowned, "I'm too ashamed to say it out, it's okay to make a scene in our own family,
but the family’s scandal is on the news."
"The news?" Without waiting for Mr. Stanley to say anything, Tina was the first to open her mouth, "I
heard about that matter too, wasn't it all settled by cousin?"
"What news?" Mr. Stanley's brow furrowed. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
"You don't know?" Tina immediately held out her phone, "This, I wanted to tell you earlier, but it has
been clarified before I could, so I didn't bring it to disturb you."
Seeing that Tina said the things about Lexie, Diana simply quietly drank tea at the side, waiting to see
this good show.
As expected, as soon as Mr. Stanley saw the news content, his face sank, "Nonsense, this is joking
with the Howard family's reputation."
Tina comforted, "Grandpa, don't be angry, it has been clarified? No matter what the truth is, Cousin will
definitely take care of it."
"If he doesn't even have the ability to handle this, he wouldn't have to stay in the position of president
of the Howard Group," Mr. Stanley sulked, "But Lexie made such a scene short after she married into
the family, she for sure is not a good person."
It was ridiculous that a mute made such a scene.
Tina hesitantly said, "Grandpa, I've heard about things about this cousin-in-law."
"What? You knew her before?" Diana revealed a surprised look.
Tina said, "Her sister Edith and I both studied abroad, we had good terms, at that time I heard from
Edith that her sister is withdrawn, and did not behave well when she was in school, and ......"
"And what?"
"And she's an illegitimate daughter with an inherently improper status," Tina revealed a hint of
contempt, "and she is indeed unworthy of my cousin."
As they were talking, someone came outside to deliver a message.
"Mr. Stanley, Miss Mitchell has arrived."
Mr. Stanley frowned, "Let her in."
The butler led Lexie into the hall.
Lexie was still carrying the canvas bag she usually carried and the fruit she bought at the store in her
hand, and there were no semblance of a lady's temperament all over her body.
Diana didn't have a good mood and said, "Why did you come dressed like this?"
Lexie clutched the bag with some aggravation.
No one had informed her in advance that she was coming to see Mr. Stanley, and since the butler had
picked her up directly from the hospital, she hadn't had time to change her clothes.
Tina had heard of Lexie before and looked her up and down, and when she saw Lexie's face, she was
jealous.
She was so beautiful.
But the thought of Lexie being mute immediately relieved her a lot.
So what if she was pretty, she was a mute.
"Miss Mitchell, this is Mr. Stanley, and this is Tina, Mr. Alan’s cousin," the butler introduced Lexie to the
people present, and then stepped back at Mr. Stanley's gesture.
Lexie nodded politely towards Mr. Stanley and Tina, pointing to her mouth to express that she had no
way to speak, politely and submissively.
Mr. Stanley sized her up and saw that although she couldn't speak, she was behaving appropriately
and generously, so his heart was somewhat relieved again, "Have a seat."
Lexie sat down on the chair next to Diana, only half of the chair, with her back straightened.
Mr. Stanley nodded, "You've been married to Alan for quite some time now, I was to see you, but this
was a bit sudden today, have I disturbed you?"
Lexie took out a pen and paper, [Whenever elders want to meet, it's appropriate.]
The beautiful handwriting fell in Mr. Stanley's eyes and he admired her.
But the handwriting was another reminder that the woman in front of him was a mute.
Mr. Stanley collected his expression and said in a deep voice, "I heard that the one who was going to
marry Alan in the first place was your sister?"
Lexie's heart stuttered.
