My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0487

Chapter 0487

Candice seemed surprised that Hanley could speak Fluereish too.

"Don't you speak it too?" Hanley asked.

"I learnt it because I wanted to study over there before,” Candice explained.

Hanley said, "You can still go now."

"I just got into graduate school, give me a break,” Candice laughed. “But it wouldn't be bad to travel there for a holiday in the future.” She believed in lifelong learning but was not overly enthusiastic about studying. Having enrolled in a part-time graduate program had already taken up a lot of her time.

Laughing and joking, they turned the corner and saw Alex standing there with a cold expression.

Candice did not stop walking, but the smile on her face faded slightly. She pulled Hanley away to avoid Alex.

However, Alex spoke coldly, " Candice, are you not planning to return to Dorrington this year?"

Candice stopped in her tracks. "It's none of your business,"

"You're not even going to pay your respects and visit your grandfather’s grave?"

Candice's expression changed. When she left Dorrington for South City, one of the hardest things was knowing she would not be able to visit her grandfather and grandmother’s graves often.

If the Elysian family hadn’t been so ruthless, she wouldn’t have left Dorrington in the first place. How dare Alex stand in front of her now and ask such a question in such a condescending manner.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

A wave of frustration surged through Candice. She looked at Alex with hostility in her eyes. "You're the reason I have a home I can't return to, forcing me to run to an unfamiliar city to hide. Do you now want to drive me out of South City too, Alex? Where do I have to go to completely rid myself of your existence?"

Candice couldn’t deny feeling resentful. She had grown up in Dorrington, but in the end, she’d had to leave for another city to ensure her and Ellis' safety.

She’d had friends, a job, and the home where she grew up in Dorrington. Why could Alex not just let her be comfortable?

She couldn’t find a reason to feel sorry for Alex. If she had made any mistakes, it was probably her being naive and thinking she could be with Alex.

But now, she was smarter. She knew not to like Alex anymore.

Candice felt that this was really for the best.

She took a deep breath, calmed her emotions and pulled Hanley away.

Hanley looked at her with deep, gentle eyes. He stopped walking and helplessly reached out to pat her head, his tone coaxing, "Don't be angry. It's not worth getting upset over someone who's not worth it."

Candice said, "Very well then, I won't get angry."

"Okay," Hanley chuckled softly. He glanced at the group of wealthy old ladies approaching them and whispered. "Your matchmaking group is here."

Candice paused for a moment, then realized what he meant and could not help but laugh.

Hanley smoothly put his arm around her waist. "Let's play the whole act. Don't forget, I'm your date."

After he finished speaking, he hesitated slightly and casually glanced behind them.

Not far behind them, Alex watched their backs, his face showing an unpleasant expression that he couldn’t conceal.

His gaze was fixed on the coat draped over Candice's shoulders and the hand Hanley had around her waist, his eyes filled with impending storm.

The image of Candice smiling up at Hanley just now flashed before his eyes again, along with the future they had planned together.

They had talked about going to Fluere together.

Even if he hadn’t seen Candice's expression, he could tell from her tone how much she was looking forward to it.

But her anticipation had nothing to do with him.
