Chapter 81

Chapter 81

“Helen said that Ms. Candice is someone that you personally trained. She should be able to handle the

matters in Stugan City, correct?”

Candice didn’t expect that Ava would shift the topic of conversation to her. But she could tell by Ava’s

cool expression that if Alex left, they could no longer be sure about the status of the deal.

Alex was as calm as always as he raised his eyes, looked at Candice, and said in a nonchalant tone,

“He’s not in the position to do so.”

Candice was just a secretary. She was unable to replace Alex when negotiating about certain big

projects. In the past, when she was with Alex, she would normally simply stay by his side unless it was

approved by him in the first place.

Ava didn’t expect him to answer her like that. Her expression became tense as Alex continued, “Aether

Corporation is sincere in this partnership. It’s fine if you need more time to think about it, but I still hope

you could hasten up a bit since there are plenty of businesses in Stugan City as well.”

With that, he turned to look at Candice.

Candice knew what he meant. He felt that there was no point in continuing with the dinner anymore

and wanted to leave.

She once again put on her professional smile and reminded Alex, “We have another teleconference at

half past nine.” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Alex nodded, then politely said goodbye to Ava before leaving with Candice.

As soon as Candice left the private room, she said, “I’ll get the bill.”

Alex gave her a grunt as he looked at his phone, not pausing in his steps.

Candice only left after she had paid the bill. But when she reached the door, she noticed that the rain

was starting again.

She looked around and finally saw Alex and Sonia in a corner.

Sonia had been provoked by the mother and daughter and she was not in a good place. Her entire face

was pale, and it looked like she would faint at any time.

Candice walked over, glanced at her, and then asked, “When are you leaving?”

Sonia was completely stunned. When she remembered how Candice was able to deal with Ava across

the dinner table masterfully, she became upset, as if Candice had just slapped her across the face.

She didn’t want to see Candice at all, so she said nothing as she lowered her head.

When Candice didn’t hear any replies, she raised her eyes to look at Alex. The latter simply said, “We’ll

go

now.”

Her voice was cold, and Sonia felt even more upset when she heard it. However, she was stubborn

and didn’t

Candice could also feel the atmosphere between them. And so, she picked up her phone and said, “I’m

going out to call a cab.”

However, after she called a cab, Alex and Sonia were still ignoring each other.

Candice didn’t care, though. No matter what happened between Alex and Sonia, it had nothing to do

with her.

She got into the passenger seat and then checked on her phone to see if there were any new

messages. Then she noticed that there was a message from an unfamiliar number.

Candice thought it was a junk message, but when she looked at it, her eyes opened wide.

[Give me back my money now, bitch. Otherwise, I’m going to your company and sue you! We’ll see if

you have any dignity left after that!]

It was obviously from Yvonne’s husband.

In reality, Candice had never seen this man. When Yvonne came looking for her, she only brought

Peach with

her.

She vaguely remembered that this man’s last name was Dawson.

Luckily, he had only sent out one message. Candice deleted it with a dark expression on her face.
