Mate
Mate
I could feel the booze running through my veins, but it couldn't affect my consciousness. My
regeneration skills quickly turned the alcohol into a light sedative, working just enough to calm me
down. I was emotionally tired, and right now, I was making a choice, the choice I'd never thought I
would make. I wasn't in love with Draven. As a matter of a fact, I didn't know if I was able to open my
heart to anyone anymore, but I needed something stable in my life. My feelings for Sariel were still
painfully alive within me. Nonetheless, I knew that I had to lock them away. I had to rearrange my life.
Was I tempted by Draven's words? Perhaps a little. Did I want to become the queen? I merely wanted
to grant my mother's people the justice they deserved. Most importantly, I wanted to find that one place
in the world where I truly belonged. Was it my place to stand beside Draven as his queen? I couldn't
answer that question yet, but if that was supposed to be my destiny, then I was about to surrender to
the higher power's will, hoping that one day I would understand why the heavens planned it all for me
this way…
The gentle licks of his tongue slowly increased my arousal. I didn't want to fight it. I submitted to the
pleasure he gave me. He didn't break our kiss when his hand slipped under the rim of my top. I could
feel his hot fingertips climbing up my naked skin as he deepened the kiss. His other hand on the back
of my head supported my weight while he positioned me to lie down on the sofa. He pulled up my top
to reach to my bra, cupping one of my breasts through the thin, lace-like fabric. As one of his fingers
began teasing the sensitive area of my nipples, I felt an electric wave of shivering rushing through my
body.
Finally, he let me breathe, breaking the kiss and pulling himself up to take off his shirt. I bit my lip slowly
scanning his delectable body. As my eyes met his gaze, I gasped overwhelmed by the desire it carried.
"You're beautiful, Lilith," he said, flashing a lustful smile.
Then he took me in his arms and, a heartbeat later, I was on his bed, and he was climbing my way like Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
a wild predator ready to devour his prey. I crawled backward and nearly hit the headboard. He
chuckled.
"Undress," he ordered, his eyes eating every inch of me.
I swallowed, and he waited as I took off my top and unfastened my bra. He growled, enjoying every
second, as I revealed myself to him. I rolled down the shoulder straps with one hand, the other
supporting my bra from falling, but that limited his patience. He wrapped one arm around my back to
pull me closer, the other one swiftly intercepted my bra from beneath my fingers. I barely registered
when my head reached the pillow, and his lips began to kiss every inch of my skin. My fingers combed
his thick hair, making his aroused growls vibrate through my body while he slid down to my stomach. A
minute later, we were both naked, panting while caressing each other.
He spread my thighs wide and stroked my most sensitive skin with the tips of his fingers before
thrusting inside me. I shivered. I moaned, releasing my excitement with animalistic sounds.
"You're mine," he breathed hard against my neck, kissing and biting me while going down.
He thrust his fingers within me while sucking my breasts until the rising humidity fiercely announced my
climax. I let out a hoarse exhale, overwhelmed by the sensation he gave me. I felt as if he released me
from the bonds that used to crush me from the inside, and now I felt freer by the second.
He knelt between my spread legs, wickedly scanning my exposed intimacy. I suddenly felt ashamed.
Unknowingly, my hands went down so I could cover myself, but he grabbed my wrists and pulled them
away.
"I want to enjoy you… every inch of you." He licked his lips, his eyes blazing with lust.
My insides were still throbbing in ecstasy when he slowly entered with the tip of his erection. He took
his time with the first long thrust, looking into my eyes. With a dark smile on his face, he increased my
pleasure, going deeper with each shove. His hips were moving relentlessly, making us pant, breathing
in the air filled with drops of our sweat.
"Mine!" he roared while coming in an intense burst.
He collapsed beside me, entangling his one leg with mine and wrapping me with one arm to pull me
close. I smiled at him. Satisfied and still filled with desire, I gently brushed his damped forehead and
cheeks. I was breathing heavily, my heart fueled with excitement hammered fast. My head was
spinning, and my legs felt weak. But even so raw and exposed in front of him, I didn't feel any different.
I loved the sensation he gave me, yet I was frightened by the void that surrounded me. I could sense
his warmth, and I could hear his heartbeat, but the feel of it all seemed distant. I felt as if Draven didn't
mark me… He marked the empty shell that I'd become.
I lay in Draven's arms with my head pressed against his chest, listening to his slowing heart rate. I
stayed calm on the outside, but the restlessness bloomed within me. Draven kept smiling at me,
showering me with sweet little kisses. I was smiling back at him, but the curved corners of my lips felt
more and more like an unnatural grimace.
I didn't regret my choice, but I felt disappointed. Perhaps I foolishly expected fireworks above my head
or the feeling of my heart fluttering each time I faced Draven's gaze. Now, with each second, I felt more
and more like an imposter, faking something I didn't feel.
Certainly, I couldn't complain about Draven's skills in bed… He took care of me, giving me an
intoxicating amount of pleasure, but I wanted more. Was I too greedy? I wondered what it was like for
him. Did his feelings for me explode when he claimed me? Or maybe he couldn't develop deeper
feelings for me when they weren't mutual? How could I know what it was like between a werewolf and
a human?
Lying in his arms became uncomfortable. Once he fell asleep I slipped out from his grip and went to his
bathroom to take a shower. I felt numb. I grabbed a sponge and thoroughly soaped my body,
wondering if my heart would ever recover from this weird indifference. I became so lost in thoughts that
I didn't notice Draven walking into the bathroom and opening the door of the cabin.
"May I join you?" he asked teasingly while entering the shower.
He hugged me from behind and kissed the top of my head. His hands slid across my soaped body,
enticing me, betraying that his hunger for me was insatiable. Fear rushed through me. As the alcohol
left my system, I could no longer hide my anxieties. I turned around to face him.
"Draven…" I muttered, "I don't think I am ready to become your Luna… I don't think that I feel-"
"You will in time." He cupped my cheeks in his hands and placed a kiss on my lips. "You are more than
ready to be my Luna. You are mine."
There was something triumphal in his voice, something that brought chills to my spine. I looked deep
into his eyes, futilely searching for sincere affection. Something fell off. Ezra told me that the pull that
the mate-bond creates, releases all kinds of impossible-to-hide emotions. However, even though
Draven claimed me his, he seemed too composed, too balanced… too calculative. Of course, I
instantly called myself a hypocrite for blaming his unrevealed affection when my heart was still
unwelcoming. I acted against my instincts and built a mask that carried a warm, appealing smile,
designed to full him as well as myself, and I kept that mask even while we slept in his bed.
As the dawn came, my restlessness became unbearable. It wasn't about Draven. It was about
something else. Deep in my guts, I knew that something bad had happened.
"Phone," I breathed sharply, opening my eyes wide.
My heart started to pound to the point I struggled to take another breath. My nervous shifts in bed woke
up Draven. He murmured, pulling me into his embrace.
"Did you have a bad dream, my Luna?" he whispered to my ear.
"No…" I muttered, hoping to sound calm. "I just need to check something in my room."
"Fine," he yawned. "Just come back here quickly." He released me from his grip.
I corrected my smiling mask as I looked into Draven's sleepy eyes.
"It will only take a minute," I promised, then quickly got up and started collecting my clothes from the
floor.
I got dressed in a rush and ran to my room. When I entered I darted towards the phone. My instincts
were right: there were seven missed calls from Martha. She had been trying to contact me for the last
hour. I swallowed hard and called her back.
"Lilith… Thank God you finally called!" she cried.
"It's not even 6 AM yet. I was sleeping," I laughed nervously, deciding that it wasn't the right moment to
tell her about Draven.
"Elora just announced herself as the new ruler!" Martha roared in desperation.
"What?" My brain quickly marked her statement as ridiculous.
"Apparently, the Royal Army was split up and the group led by King Sariel himself got ambushed. They
lost contact and no one could reach him and his group the entire day," she said while swallowing tears.
"Two hours ago the message came to the Palace… The King is dead."
