My Substitute CEO Bride

Chapter 1987

Nash turned his head and realized Zaafea was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, where's Zaafea?" Nash asked in confusion.

"Oh, Master said he was hungry and went to get something to eat," Deluca replied.

"Eat? Does that guy even need to eat?"

...

In the grandest luxury viewing box, Sycamore sat quietly.

Opposite him, Zaafea was munching on some fruit.

"Ruin," Sycamore began, breaking the silence. "I don't recall you ever being the type to help others out of the goodness of your heart." Zaafea, who was now full, leisurely lay back on the couch and yawned. He showed no intention of responding to Sycamore's query.

"Hey! Our great emperor is talking to you! Are you deaf?" a burly man grabbed Zaafea, attempting to pull him up.

"Who the hell are you? Can't you let me finish my nap first?" Zaafea squinted at him.

"What?!" The burly man was about to punch Zaafea but found himself unable to move.

At that moment, Sycamore tapped his staff on the ground and said sternly, "No need to be rude. He's my honored guest."

The burly man was visibly nervous and quickly backed down. Seeing Sycamore intervene, Zaafea released his hold on the man and lay back down on the couch. The man hurried to Sycamore's side, apologizing profusely. "You shouldn't be apologizing to me!" Sycamore's voice carried authority.

Realizing his mistake, the burly man quickly turned to Zaafea, but he was waved off.

"Alright now, old man. It's my fault. I'll answer your question. I just want to prevent those gods from being resurrected."

"Oh? A god of the West wanting to stop the resurrection of his own kind?" Sycamore's tone was calm but laced with curiosity.

"Let me clarify. I'm a cultivator

named Zaafea now, not that

so-called Ruin. I'm preventing the

invasion of the gods of the West for my country. Is that a problem?"

"Hahaha, you make a good point. But don't forget our rules. Excessive interference in someone's fate is a violation of..."

"What are rules anyway? Old man, admire you for remembering so many regulations. But forgive me, I have a bit of a memory problem. I'll try to remember next time.

"Everything must have order. Without it, we'd be in chaos. I understand your intentions, Ruin, and I know you have grievances against those gods of the West. But we cannot continue interfering Some predetermined outcomes are veering out of control because of your actions. It's time to stop."

"Alright, alright. You're the Eastern God King. I'll listen to you, okay?" Zaafea said dismissively.

"Honestly, I prefer the previous occupant of your body," Sycamore remarked.

Zaafea replied cryptically, "Just like that little fox over there."

Sycamore glanced at the barrier. "You all are too obsessed."

The fog on the field cleared. The Fox Queen knelt, looking utterly defeated.

Meanwhile, Clint looked confused and distressed. However, he suddenly steeled his gaze.

"I'm sorry, I... I can't become him. I'm no longer him..."

"Why... Why..."

"I'm searching for that answer too. But maybe my presence here is the best proof. He chose to be reborn as a human, perhaps for you." After hearing this, Ember left quietly.
