My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 1047 Sounding So Sure of It

Chapter 1047 Sounding So Sure of It

Since he was calling her at such a moment, he should have known about what happened on the internet.

She just had no idea if he knew who was behind it.

If he knew, what would he do?

Sydney looked at the caller ID, her heart heavy with apprehension. She hesitated for a moment before finally answering the call, her voice barely above a whisper. "Hello?"

"Ms. Raines." To her surprise, what came from the other end of the phone was Zack's voice.

Sean froze, about to ask, when Zack offered an explanation. "It's me, Zack. Mr. Flint is currently in a meeting with some guests. I took the liberty of calling you from his phone."

Sydney realized what was going on.

Her disappointment was palpable as she pursed her lips. She had been hoping to hear Julien's voice.

"What can I do for you, Zack?" she asked wearily, rubbing her temples.

She felt like something was inside gnawing her mind.

"I want to check if you're okay," Zack said with concern. "I've seen what's been going on online."

Sydney wasn't surprised.

She had already figured out the purpose of his call. She had asked out of formalities.

"I'm fine," she replied, shaking her head slightly before narrowing her eyes. "Julien doesn't know about this, does he?"

"No. He's still in his meeting. The guest is quite important to him." Zack nodded and added quickly to avoid any misunderstanding, "It's his teacher, male."

Sydney felt funny.

Zack's emphasis on how important the man was somehow made her upset.

It was not that Julien couldn't have a teacher.

She was just upset about the granddaughter of that teacher.

But she didn't show her unhappiness on the surface. Instead, she forced a smile and said, "I know. He told me about it. I won't overthink it."

"That's good," Zack said, sounding relieved.

"Well," Sydney said, lowering her eyes, "what do you think about the rumor online? Do you think it's true?"

As if he had just heard a joke, Zack pushed up his glasses and laughed. "Is this an IQ test? It's obviously fake. This morning Mr. Flint told me why Mr. Chase and you went to the hotel, and I even helped him deliver a thank-you message to Mr. Houston."

"Do you really believe that it's fake?" Sydney's expression gradually brightened.

Zack nodded. "Of course! It's not just me, but Mr. Flint wouldn't believe it either. You guys love each other. There is no way you'd cheat on him. In fact, I've checked out the photo. Although the man's face was blurred, I could tell it was Mr. Chase. So, you don't have to worry about it. Once Mr. Flint

finishes his meeting, I'll tell him everything. We can let him handle it. I believe he won't let those behind the incident and the Squirrel team off the hook." All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

The Squirrel team risked offending Mr. Flint by spreading such a rumor. Apparently, they were backed by someone.

In short, whoever did this would have to pay the price.

"You sound so sure of it." Sydney lowered her eyes, concealing the complicated emotions in her gaze.

Zack was so confident simply because he didn't know who was really behind all this.

If he did know, would he still be so certain that they wouldn't get away with it?

Zack didn't know Sydney's thoughts, but he sensed that something was off in her words. "What do you mean?"

Sydney shut her eyes. "Nothing. You'll know."

"Ah?" Zack was taken aback.

Sydney didn't want to continue the conversation. She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "I'm a little tired. Gotta go."

"Have a good rest, and don't worry about anything. We'll take care of it," Zack reassured her.

Sydney hummed and hung up the phone.

Zack stared at the screen as it returned to the main menu, feeling uneasy.

Sydney's reaction had been too strange, as if she had something on her mind.

But that wasn't something he should concern himself with. It was his boss' job.

It was Julien's wife anyway.

"Is anyone there?" Zack called out toward the office, setting Julien's phone back on the desk.

A man in a suit appeared at the door. "Sir?"

"Go to the PR department and tell them to bright down the heat of the rumor online," Zack instructed, his expression grim. "Delete all those negative comments. And make a list of all the media outlets and accounts that spread the rumor. Mr. Flint will deal with them personally."

The man nodded. "Will do."

"And one more thing," Zack added, his glasses glinting coldly. "Find out who's behind all this and report back to me immediately."

"Yes, sir," the man responded and left.

Zack pinched the bridge of his nose, cursing under his breath.

It was one thing after another.

Sydney seemed to attract trouble like a magnet.

He wondered which woman was behind it all this time.

Sydney had suspected that it was a woman, and Zack could tell it too.

He figured that Sydney had been in a bad mood earlier because she thought it was a woman who was interested in Julien, and that had made her uncomfortable.

After all, Julien was popular with the ladies.

But Julien had made it clear that he wouldn't tolerate any entanglements, and he had been ruthless in enforcing that rule.

So, no woman had dared to pester him over the years.

But now, someone had suddenly jumped out. Had she not heard Julien's warning, or did she see an opportunity because she thought he had softened recently?

Whichever the case, she was in for a rude awakening.

With a stony expression, Zack pushed up his glasses and picked up Julien's cell phone once more. He turned on his heel and strode out of the office, making his way toward the reception room.

He didn't know how long Julien's meeting with Mr. McDaniel would last, but he could wait there and inform Julien at the earliest possible time.

As he approached the door of the reception room, Zack noticed that it was wide open.

And he caught sight of an old man talking to Julien.

The old man was dressed in a neat suit. Despite his gray hair, his face was ruddy and full of vitality. He didn't even need a cane. At first glance, he appeared to be an elderly gentleman who took good care of his health and exercised regularly.

Perhaps because Zack's gaze was too direct, the old man noticed him and smiled at Julien, "Your assistant is outside. It seems he has something to tell you."
