Chapter 1113 Julien's Consideration
Chapter 1113 Julien's Consideration
Julien didn’t like being surrounded by people, especially when they had a purpose.
He could see their intentions in their eyes, which disgusted him even more.
He knew very well why these people came up to him to greet him.
It was true that people wanted to take every opportunity they could get, but it wasn't a good time. Couldn't they see the sullen look on Julien's face?
Those people surrounded Julien and kept babbling. They introduced themselves to
Julien and talked to him about their company's products. They were trying to get Julien's investment so they could expand their business.
Their intentions were so obvious.
Usually, if someone ran into Julien and introduced his business, Julien would listen to him patiently and he might be interested.
Although Julien was the president of Flint Corporation, he never underestimated anyone. He respected small entrepreneurs and believed in the potential of their businesses. He would not turn down a small business if their business was profitable.
He started Flint Corporation as a small business.
He understood that small entrepreneurs wanted to build connections with him. It was wise for them to take advantage of any opportunity they could get. Seeking investment and partnerships was an important way to grow a business, and Julien was willing to give potential companies a chance. That was good for both parties.
But now Julien was off duty and he was enjoying his time with Sydney. He hated it when people bothered him at times like this.
He was shopping with his wife. NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
Although Julien was angry, he didn't drive them away.
They were at Shallow Bay, where Sydney's apartment was located. Sydney's father bought her this apartment when she was eighteen years old.
Sydney might move out of the apartment in the future, but she would never sell it. It would always be her home.
Therefore, Julien didn't want to upset Sydney's neighbors. He was worried that someone would vandalize Sydney's apartment later if he flew into a temper.
Even though Julien was a powerful man, he didn't want to take any risk if it concerned Sydney.
In order to protect Sydney's apartment, which was Harry's last gift to Sydney, even though Julien didn't want to deal with these people, he held back his temper. Finally, it was Julien and Sydney's turn to check out and they could get rid of those people.
They chose to have the groceries delivered to Sydney’s apartment, so they didn't have to carry the bags.
They linked their hands the whole way.
Julien felt so content, as if he had everything he wanted.
"Did you do that for me?" Sydney asked, looking up at the stars in the night sky.
Julien paused in his steps, but he quickly regained his footing and laughed softly, "What are you talking about?"
Sydney looked askance at Julein. "Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. When we were at the supermarket, people recognized you. They introduced themselves to you and wanted to build connections with you. I guess you were annoyed, but you didn't lose your temper or drive them away. That's not like you."
"Really?" Julien chuckled, "What do you think I should do?"
Sydney asked with a smirk, "Are you testing me?"
Julien nodded. "Yes. I want to know how well you know me."
Sydney grunted, "I think I know you very well. If we weren't in Shallow Bay, you would have driven them away. You wouldn't have been so patient with them. But you didn't lose your temper. You must have done it for a reason. You were afraid of something, not for yourself. You weren't afraid that offending them would make them resent you or get back at you. They don't have the guts to do that. And they can't get back at you, so you did it for me. There were just you and me. And I think there's another reason."
Sydney held up two fingers and waved them in front of Julien.
Her fair fingers looked delicate in the streetlight.
Julien stared at her fingers and asked in a low voice, "What's the second reason?"
Sydney lowered her hand and smiled, "You were concerned about me, so you didn't kick those people away. The second reason is simple. I live in this neighborhood. Sometimes you stay in the company overnight for work and I will be at home alone. You were worried that they would retaliate
against me. While you could protect me, you couldn't be by my side every second, so you chose to be patient with them."
Julien's eyes grew tender. He reached up and rubbed her hair. "You're so smart! What do you want as a reward?"
Sydney removed his hand from her head. "I don't need your reward. Your rewards are boring."
Julien's eyes dimmed. "What? Why didn't you tell me before?"
Sydney blushed at the wicked smile in Julien's eyes. She tapped him lightly on the shoulder. "Julien, that's enough! Don't make me say it."
Julien chuckled lowly. He was in a good mood.
After a moment, he coughed softly and said, "You're right. That's what I was worrying about, so I didn't turn them down. I could have ignored them. I wasn't afraid of them getting back at me, but you're different. They wouldn't dare do anything to you when I'm around you, but I can't be with you or take you with me all the time. They might do something to you when I'm not around. I never neglect anyone, even ordinary people."
Julien looked at the road ahead, and his face became serious. "The ordinary can be more cunning than people with power. Powerful people tend to be arrogant, and they don't use nasty means. But ordinary people may do anything to get what they want."
"I know." Sydney nodded. "Resources in society are limited and most of them are controlled by the powerful. If ordinary people want a piece of the pie, they need to take it from the powerful."
"That's right. Ordinary people are more difficult to deal with than the powerful. They can risk everything to take down the people with power. They aren't afraid to lose anything. They don’t have anything valuable to lose."
Sydney sighed, "I've heard of people who would risk losing everything to take down someone with power."
"I had to be patient to keep you safe." Julien looked at Sydney with a serious look on his face.
Sydney was touched. She felt indebted to Julien.
She tightened her hold on his hand slightly, looked him in the eye, and said, "Thank you for being so considerate of me."
