Chapter 20 I’m Going to Take Everything From You.
Dead?
It was an odd thing to say on such an occasion.
"Mom's dead. Have you heard?" Her soft voice quivered slightly with a hint of sobbing.
The crowd couldn't help but frown at the sound.
Lillianna was taken aback but soon retorted, "What's all this nonsense you're talking about? My mother
is right here!"
Lacey busted out laughing after hearing that.
Walking up to a bartender, she then grabbed a glass of wine from his plate and downed it in one gulp.
"What are you doing?" Bailey hurried forward and grabbed her hand. His face filled with discontent.
She'd never had any alcohol before. As a result, the peppery sensation affected her greatly.
"Dad!" She chuckled, saying, "Your ex-wife is no longer alive. Are you happy with that?"
Lillianna rushed forward and grabbed Lacey's hand as soon as she realized the situation was not
looking good. "Lacey, you're drunk. Don't cause a commotion. Be good."
"Commotion?" Lacey's eyes were full of sarcasm, despite her grin. "Didn't you send her text messages
last night? Hadn't she mentioned she would commit suicide today, the day of her eldest daughter's
engagement? What a great day for you!"
"Slap!" Bailey had had enough and slapped her across the face.
He exerted every ounce of strength he had. Lacey was sick. Due to the shock of Maria's suicide and
the fact that she'd been soaking in the rain all day, her body couldn't take the slap.
Blood dripped from the corner of her mouth as she collapsed to the ground.
She felt a sharp pain in her head at that very moment.
And tears streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably.
She thought, "Mom, did you see that?"
"Although you are dead, they don't seem sorry at all."
"What they felt was disgust for me because I ruined the engagement party."
"The Carters sure was something else!"
Hastily, Lillianna squatted down and urged, "Lacey, don't make a scene. Why don't I take you home?"
Lillianna's positive reputation grew as a result of her actions.
Lacey, on the other hand, was loathed even more.
Looking up, Lacey grinned at Lillianna's hypocritical face.
"I'll take you back, Lacey. We'll talk when we get home, okay?" Lillianna was about to pull her up.
Suddenly, Lacey reached out and wrapped her arms around Lillianna, sobbing in her embrace.
"There, there, don't cry. I know you're feeling sad. Let's go. I'll take you home. Be good, alright~"
Lillianna patted her back.
Unbeknownst to her, Lacey's sobs grew closer. In a low voice that only the two of them could hear, she
added, "I'm going to take everything from you. I will destroy whatever it is that you are concerned
about!"
Lillianna went entirely still. She let go of Lacey and stared at her, dumbfounded.
Unlike what she expected, Lacey was still in tears. She looked sad and not at all as cruel as she
sounded.
Lillianna was in a bit of a trance at this point. Was what she had just heard a hallucination?
While Lillianna was in a daze, Lacey gradually got up with a dizzy head.
Her head was spinning wildly.
She did, however, manage to approach Sam.
With his hands in his pockets, Sam stood motionless. His obsidian eyes rested on her, and he made no
other facial expression. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Wobbling, Lacey took a few steps closer to him.
Her eyes were cold, despite a dazzling smile brightened her rosy face. "Congratulations, Sam, on your
engagement." She said.
Sam lowered his gaze to the girl, whose eyes were filled with tears as if she would cry at any moment.
Her light skin had gone crimson as a result of the alcohol.
"Sam, I have something to tell you. Could you bend over?" Swaying, Lacey waved at him.
"I can hear you." Sam remained unmoved, and his tone was plain.
Lillianna, on the other hand, was taken aback by the scene. She dashed over right away.
However, Lacey collapsed just as Lillianna approached. She was caught just in time, fortunately.
Sam's eyes were like ice needles, piercing through the girl in his arms.
"Sam, do I smell familiar?"
These were her final words before passing out.
