Chapter13 I Apologise To You
Chapter13 I Apologise To You
The elevator door opened just as Eva was a little shocked by Pearl's words.
"I'll go back to work now, Dr. Yonng."
"Okay." Pearl took out her vibrating phone from her pocket and pressed the answer button: "Hi, how's it
going there?"
It was Ethan. He was with the policemen right now.
"We're taking notes now. Ken drank a lot, and he just vomited all over the place. We haven't got many
information from him, and will take him back to the station."
"Do you need to go with them as well?"
"Yes, so I need you to cover my shift at the ER."
Hearing this, Pearl looked at the time subconsciously.
As if Ethan could see what she was doing through the phone, he simply said, "I've called my mom and
told her that the children would stay with her tonight. The driver will send them straight to school
tomorrow."
They both needed to work overtime that night, but Pearl could have left before half-past
eight. Pearl was supposed to pick up her children, but it seemed that she couldn't make it now.
"Okay, got it." Pearl said.
"Okay, see you later then."
Pearl returned to the ER after hanging up.
Most of the patients who came here at midnight were either injured by accident or had acute problems
like gastroenteritis. There were no very serious cases.
Just as Pearl sat down in her office, the door was knocked.
"Knock, knock!"
"Please come in."
When the door was opened, a young girl with braided hair came in. It was Elaine.
"Dr. Yonng, can I come in?" Elaine blinked at her.
"You haven't left yet?" Pearl was stunned for a moment.
"It's yours." Elaine waved the white coat in her hand.
When she was dealing with Ken, Pearl casually took off her coat and threw it away. She didn't expect
Elaine to have picked it up.
"Thanks." Pearl stood up and took the white coat. Seeing the gauze on Elaine's neck, she asked with
concern, "Is your neck okay? Who bandaged it for you?"
"I'm okay. Dr. Louise bandaged it for me."
Hearing this, Pearl laughed, "Now you don't think he is a prevert anymore?"
Elaine felt a little embarrassed at Pearl's words, "I didn't mean that. My friend is timid and has a strict
family rule... I already apologised to Dr. Louise."
"He didn't scold you?" asked Pearl.

Pearl smiled again and said, "Well, Dr. Louise is not a petty man. You should go home now. Where is
your friend?"
"Her driver had already took her home."
"Then what about you? No one went to pick you up?"
Elaine shook her head. She was very different compared to how arrogant she was before.
It was almost 9 pm, so Pearl said, "How about this? I'll call a car to send you home. Where do you
live?"
However, Elaine asked, "Dr. Yonng, when will you get off work?"
"Umm, roughly in more than an hour."
It would take Ethan more than an hour to come back from the police station.
"Then I'll wait for you. Can you take me home?" Elaine said.
Hearing this, Pearl was a bit confused.
This little girl wasn't being courteous at all.
"Won't your family be worried if you went home after 10 pm?"
"It's okay. I often go home late," Elaine said. She then sat on the sofa, "Dr. Yonng, Dr. Louise told me
that you are the deputy director of the cardiac department, which means you are very familiar with
heart disease, aren't you?"
"You doubt my qualifications?"
Elaine smiled, "Sorry, I apologise."
"You don't need to apologise, as you are still young. After you grow up, you'll know that it's not okay to
judge a book by its cover. Real talents don't rely on age."
"I see."
Pearl still had to treat patients, so she didn't have much time to chat with Elaine. Elaine put her
earphones on, shutting the world off. She left Pearl be.
It was half-past ten, when Pearl received a call from Ethan after she walked out of the operating room.
"I'm now on my way to the hospital. You should head home."
"Okay." Pearl took a glance at Elaine who was lying on the sofa though the door. "I'll send a young girl
home first."
"Who?"
"The girl who called you a hooligan."
"D*mn...that girl still hasn't left yet?"
"She is still young so don't be petty with her. She told me she'd apologised to you."
It was late so Pearl had no time to bicker with Ethan. She hung up the phone and then went to the
office to call for Elaine.
"Let's go." Pearl took off her white coat. She waved to Elaine and said, "I'll send you home."
Elaine immediately propped up from the sofa. "You're off work?"
"Yes. Where do you live?"
"At Yoreast."
"So you live in Yoreast Hills Garden, don't you?"
Yoreast Hills Garden was the most luxurious residential area in Kityall City.
However, judging from the girl's attire, she probably was from a well-off family.
Elaine smiled, "Yeah. Do you want to come and visit my house?"
"I'm fine. I'll send you home as soon as possible so that your family won't think that you're kidnapped."
Pearl didn't use any navigation and directly headed towards Yoreast Hills Garden.
Elaine asked curiously, "Are you from Kityall City?"
"Yeah."
"No wonder you're so familiar with the roads. Your car looks good. My mom also has one but she is
terrible at driving. She bought it and had only drove it once."
Elaine was a chatterbox.
Pearl didn't ask her anything. But she'd already known that Lorraine's mom was a painter, her dad was
a businessman, and her younger brother seemed to be in poor health.
"Dr. Yonng, I want to ask you something."
"Yep."
"Do you need money?"
Pearl was startled. She glanced at Elaine in shock, thinking that she heard her wrong. "What did you
say?"
